Hi Kerrie
No we never really got chance to eat in the restaurant at lunchtime- but varied it for breakfast and dinner.
I did infact prefer it in there for my breakfast.
The queue in the lido was ofter quite long - so we flitted along to the restaurant and was seated immediatly.
The only thing to consider in the restaurant is that you are normally seated on a table with other guests.
This can be fine - but we had the odd miserable couple whom did not want to even say "Hello"- on the whole it can be quite interesting talking to new people though- especially if you are like me and like a good old natter
Shorts are fine as Luci says- so if not a skirt person do not worry
Have you done a Thomson or any other cruise before Kerrie?
Yes we went on the spirit may 2005 for our honeymoon and we had a wonderful time Although money has not permitted us to go again until now but that didnt stop me from dreaming. We are going to treat it like a second honeymoon
I really cant wait!!!! The thomson cruise suits us to a tee as there is no snobbery is there?? When we first went to the restaurant we asked for a table for two (with it being our honeymoon and all) but we were told that that there wasnt one but they would sort it out for next time, but the next day was captains night and we were on the captains table
So for the rest of the hols we decided to sit with the people we dined with our first night, It was a table for 8 but there was only the four of us.
Have you sailed on any other thomson ship other than the celebration??
If so which did you favour?? Hope i dont keep comparing the destiny to the spirit.
I will fill you in on all when i get back. To hear me you would think i am going tomorrow not november. I am soooooooooo EXCITED!!!!!!
Kerrie
How do the cabins in the Destiny compare with the Spirit or the Emerald. We did the Spirit this year and had a four berth cabin between three of us, that was on deck three (this was bigger than the Emerald).
I have only been on the spirit but from reading the posts the destiny cabins are much smaller.
Kerrie
I've been on the Destiny, when it was the Sunbird, and also on the Spirit and felt the cabins were roughly the same size. However we had an L-shaped layout on the Sunbird which made the cabin seem more spacious.
Cheers!
We have two large hard bodied cases and have usually managed to get them under the beds although we have had to lift the beds a little to get them under on a couple of ships.

We are going on the destiny on the 17th nov ( hubby is down the TA as we speak paying the balance I am so excited
You will have to fill us in on everything when you return.
Kerrie
Will let you know about the cruise as soon as we get back. Just looked on the calender and only 9 weeks to go!!!
We have some technicalities to sort out first (a. saving up enough pennies and b. finding someone to go who wants to share with my mum - she is so jealous we have been on the Destiny twice without her she won't tolerate us going again without her and if we don't find her a cabin partner she's going to throw a massive tantrum and we daren't book until then!).
But hopefully, fingers crossed very tightly, we will be back on Destiny for the second time this year, hurrah!
just a quick question. If i am hungry on my way back to my cabin in the early hours, can i take something back to my cabin from the lido or is this not allowed
All i seem to do is think about food and drink when i am thinking of cruises
Thanks
Kerrie
Everyone takes tea back to their room anyway. I think the best thing is to make sure you return your plates in the morning rather than leaving it for the steward and then no one is going to bat an eyelid.
I will probably not even be hungry after not stopping all day but i have to have all my options open before i go dont i
Kerrie
We are going on Colourful Coasts cruise on 20th October (6 weeks today! ) Cant wait. My main concern as I haven't cruised before is the sea sickness - is there help on board or can anyone recommend a really good solution?
jeccabean, i suffer if the sea is just slightly rough unfortunatly, but i now take sturgeron tablets in the 1st instant and im fine then, this year on emerald hubby wore the bands on his wrist when it was a bit choppy and he was fine so i can recommend those also. they do have tablets at reception on the ship and also the doctor will give you an injection if its real bad. dont want to make it sound like its always rough thats not the case at all its usually like a mill pond and then you dont even know your sailing
You many find the Colourful Coasts topic useful and also New to Cruising if you haven't read them already.
Regarding seasickness, I agree with laine that Stugeron is brilliant if you take it at the first signs or even before the ship sails if it is forecast to be rough. My hubby used to be sick one night every cruise until he started taking them and he hasn't been sick since. He was even OK going through the Bay of Biscay when the porthole resembled a washing machine!
On that itinerary it can tend to be choppy sailing between Lanzarote and Agadir and I would recommend taking the tablets 1/2 an hour before the ship sets sail that night.

Thanks for that info, I will be sure to invest in a supply of Stugeron just in case . Anything to stop my three children worrying! We have reserved 2 cabins on deck 3, one twin and one triple bedded. Are the cabins really small as other postings have suggested?
When we get back to Tenerife at the end of our cruise we dock at 7.00am. Our flight home is not until 10pm at night. We would like to go to Loro Parque during that day, is there a trip available and will we have enough time seen as we have to sort out our suitcases and disembark?
Some ships do organise excursions for the disembarkation day so you may be able to book something on the ship.
I've been told that that the majority of the crew on board the Thomson Spirit this summer will be on the Destiny next year (summer). Is this true?
