Due to our hotel location (Akti Beach) we didnt see too much of Paphos. We got the bus through one day and had lunch down at the harbour which was nice. We also got a taxi in one night and went to Bubble's, Woody's and a couple of the other disco pubs which were average for a holiday resort.
We visited Coral Bay which was quite disappointing, it looked as though it needed a good clean. However, if you go further along there a couple of nicer bay's which are a bit quieter too.

Paphos is a very clean resort but alot quieter then we expected. Bar Street is loud and fun for the young and young at heart, There are loads of restaurants but we were disappointed to find that the main Greek food was limited to 4 dishes in most of them (Kleftico, Aphelia, Mousaka and Steffano) - We followed the advise and went to Argo for his renouned Mousaka which was superb but one of the best meals we had was eaten next door to him in Windmill, here we were also offered a wider variety of Greek Fayre.
The beach in Paphos was very nice but the water was difficult to enter as it was very stony.
We would visit this resort again as it is ideal for a relaxing break - the only downside is the shops all sell the same things and gifts are quite expensive apart from Onyx which is very reasonable.
Food was priced at between CYP 6 - 8 (£8 - 12 GBP) for a set 3 course menu.
Locals were very friendly and helpful.

The resort was clean, although we found it unattractive, the coastline is very scrubby, and we only found one sandy beach 'coral bay' which we ended up going to most days. We were surprised at how English it was. There seemed to be something for everyone re: entertainment, although we saw a change in the week we were there, around the Bar Street area towards the end of the week, Bars were blasting out disco music as you walked past and we were approached at nearly every bar with offers of free drinks if we went in, they must have been desperate as we are 46 & 59!, age was definately getting younger and I'm not sure I would like in in July/August. Very disappointed in beaches, if it wasn't for Coral bay would have gone stir crazy. If your looking for a bit of culture/sophistication it's not for you, for a week in the sun to do nothing it was fine, but once you seen it I would not go back.

The Avanti Hotel is in the Kato Paphos area and definately in the prettier side of the resort.
There are some great restaurants in the vacinity including Sunbow, The Rib Shack and Rimini. We found the other side of the resort had slighlt cheaper restaurants beyond the harbour (near the Tomb of the Kings) which we can only describe as "Blackpool in the sun" and definately less pretty and dusty with lots of busy traffic.
There are not many public beach areas as most are taken up by private loungers for the string of hotels along the coast.
I recommend the small beach beside the Alexander the Great hotel which was CYP£3.50 daily for two loungers and a brolly. We spent many hours sunbathing there and it was just perfect.
There is not enough entertainment in this resort (well in May anyway). The same small group of entertainers in different bars. Disappointing!
Would we visit this resort again? Well we loved the local people. They were helpful, curteous and the nicest people on this small planet of ours.
That is surely one reason for returning without a doubt.

Everywhere you go there are unfinished building contracts.
There are also alot of neon signs advertising beer, football etc.
Paphos is not a pretty place, the drive from the Airport is full of abandoned vehicles.
The town is a concrete jungle and is very scruffy.

I think Paphos is a really clean resort and the people are very friendly. There is lots of bars and restaurants to vist down by the harbour. The beach is not great in paphos but an 8ocent bus ride away is coral bay where the beach is fantastic well worth the bus ride.
