I didnt ever really notice anything dirty , the backstreets are shabby and the only reason I cant give this a 5.
We are a couple with a small child so didnt use much of it but you can see there are bars clubs a bowling alley , water parks e.t.c its all there.
Woud I visit again I'm in love with the place , been back 2 weels and am going again in another 4 to buy a holiday home, forget your spain and france try Cyprus I havnt met one person who says they have regretted it

On the whole Paphos is a lovely place to stay.A lot of historical sites to visit and good shops and retaurants to eat in.Found Cyprus to be expensive though.

paphos is a very big and expanding resort with something for everyone. there are lots of opticians and estate agents. we purchased some designer prescription sunglasses at a fraction of uk prices. everywhere is clean and well maintained.

We went on the Cyprus night which was entertaining, the food and the firewater were an experience not to be missed and at the end we were encouraged to join in with the dancing, altogether a very fun evening!
A few places where we found to eat out were Chloe's Chinese on the seafront (with the best chinese food we have ever tasted). The Alkion Tavern which did a beautiful suckling pig (a must try). The Upper Crust Sandwich Shop lovely fresh butties made to order (tell them Jacqui and Mandy sent you)!

Having returned to Paphos after many years' absence we were bitterly disappointed. It's now a tacky, grossly over-developed place full of miserable bars and fast-food joints, time-share touts, estate agencies, car showrooms, housing and flat developments, and all the dross of a town that is still being totally spoiled and left with none of its original Greek-Cypriot character.
It's only saving grace is the historical monuments, which can be visited in less than a day. There are one or two good tavernas: we liked Scorpio's in the top town, but the harbour front is ruined with a few tacky places to eat and not good value.
Although we have rated the entertainment and the beach, we didn't use thr first and couldn't use the second (winter and freezing!) but were not impressed by what we could see.
Anyone who is used to the ambience of Greek coastal towns/villages will find absolutely none in Paphos. Going back there was - for us -a big mistake.

As it was really only the start of the holidays season the entertainment hadn't yet got into full swing. There seemed to be a lot of activities to experience. The weather didn't allow us to enjoy the outside pool or the beach, the Red Flag flew most of the week. The weather wasn't so good, even the Cypriots complained about the cold!!!
Would most certainly visit again, maybe at Easter.

The resort of paphos was excellent for shopping in the daytime and dancing in the nighttime, altough I would definitely recommend hiring a car. There isnt really a large beach here but a 30 minute drive over to coral bay offers beautiful crystal clear waters and pebbley beaches but overall a pleasant experience!

The pavements are terrible, if you have a pram or a wheelchair you will find it virtually impossible to get rom the centre of the resort to the beach.
Cars drive in the pedestrian areas during the day - and they dont slow down!
We went at the beginning of February and a lot of the bars were shut, but there were enough open to keep our family of 4 entertained.
There are some nice walks on the beach which goes at the back of all the nice hotels at the opposite end of the beach to the harbour.
Worst aspect was the hassle every time you stopped to look at a menu, someone would be straight out trying to drag you in, we ended up stopping going down to the beach front to eat it just wasnt worth all the hassle.

Pathos is a big real estate development site!A sprawling mess amongst the ruins and generally closed in January when we went.
You can look around the highly publicised Tomb of Kings in an hour-one hole in the ground looks very much like another,go on Sunday-its free!
The Mosaics are impressive but not jaw dropping and can be done in another hour.
The harbour area and sea front is pleasant enough and a walk to the old town should be done once, but there isnt much to see and the roads are narrow and Greek driving indifferent to be polite.
Bar Street is virtually closed in January notable exception is The Robin Hood pub -off bar street I recommend the hospitality of The 60s bar(very friendly).
Segafredo Coffee bar provides you with a decent if expensive 'real' coffee as you watch the British pensioners negotiate the incomplete pavements,Greek drivers, Time share sharks and building sites as shops and bars refurb for the summer season.
Get out on an excursion-Troodos Mountains is a must and do the North Cyprus day trip-much prettier, cheaper and friendlier!-book with Horizon travel on the sea front-not your rep.
We found Cyprus was very expensive, dirty and poorly planned. We always make the most of any of our holidays and did in this case but over spent by about £200 and didn't live it up!(mainly cos there was nothing to do!)
For Thomson to sell as a Winter sun destination is pushing their luck a bit as we only saw the sun twice!!

The resort was quiet when we travelled as it was out of season, it was clean and in the process of being spruced up for the season. We did not visit the beach but it looked like it needed cleaning ready for the season.
There ary many many attractions, such as the mosaics and tomb of the kings, plenty to keep the most active occupied, I would definitely go back again.
