Location
The hotel itself was VERY clean and the gardens were beautiful. The rooms were nice (not really 5* in my opinion, more like 3*) although they were absolutely spotlessly clean.
Our room was cleaned every day and the beds changed about 3 times even though we only stayed there for 1 week. 10/10 for cleanliness.
The pools were very nice and clean, although they were very cold!(and that is just what you need when you have been boiling in the sun). The main pool had a bar but the other 2 pools had nowhere that you could get a drink, so you had to walk up to the main pool which is a shame as the bottom pool was very nice and lovely and quiet.
The beach is a bit of an ordeal, it is tiered, if you are up the top then you are near the bar but are no where near ANY water, if you are down the bottom then you are near water but no where near the bar, it is very steep and there are lots of steps to deal with, not for the faint hearted or people who cannot walk very well, beleive me. To get down to the beach it is quite a hike as it is on a steep slope, getting back up from the beach is hard work.
The food in the restaurant was OK, again not what I would consider 5*, but there were quite a lot to choose from and there is fresh pizza being made every night if you don't like anything in the upstairs restaurant.
In the afternoon please be careful and make sure your burgers and hotdogs are properly cooked as this is the reason I think my partner and myself got ill. We both ate a hotdog for our lunch and from that evening on we were both very ill and it continued 10 days after we returned home, so this did put a bit of a damper on our holiday. A couple we met there also had hotdogs that day and they too were ill (upset tums) not very nice.
There isn't really that much to do in the evenings with regards to entertainment unless you go out of the resort and into town.
A little tip for those of you who would like to get a bit tipsy in the evening, take a bottle of something you like to drink as the drinks were NOT very strong at all, quite a few people had brought bottle's of Vodka, Bacardi etc with them because they had been forwarned.
We didn't make it into town as we kept putting it off until 'tomorrow' but then we fell ill and didn't make it. Friends we met there did go into town and got some very nice 'fake' designer bags! Cheap.
Overall it was a nice relaxing week in the lovely hot sunshine, but a bit boring in the evenings and didn't really think the hotel was worth a 5* rating more like 3* - 4*.

The reception staff were very welcoming and we sat in the magnificent foyer to fill in the paperwork while the porters unloaded our luggage from the coach. This done, we were taken with our luggage on an electric "golf cart" to our room, the driver pointing out the bars, restaurants and facilities on the way.
Our room was comfortably furnished and spotlessly clean with everything we could possibly need. It was air-conditioned and had a safe box. The room was kept beautifully clean and most days we returned to find a new towel sculpture had been created, which was a really nice touch.
We had paid for a sea view and, although we couldn't have been much nearer the beach, we couldn't see the sea from inside the room. It's just a small point which didn't detract from our enjoyment of the holiday, but I don't think I would pay for a sea view again - the hotel grounds are so lovely that I think most rooms would have a nice outlook anyway.
Having mentioned the grounds they are beautiful! There are a team of gardeners who seem to work constantly: watering, cutting the grass, pruning the trees etc. When we were there everything was flowering and looking great - a nice time to visit.
The food was pretty good too. We could always find something we liked and there was plenty of it. There wasn't a tremendous variety from one day to the next - a lot of the side dishes were a bit "samey" and I would think, over a fortnight, things might get a bit repetitive. We were there for a week though and managed fine! Whatever was served was of excellent quality.
There were, however, often flies and sparrows in the dining room, the sparrows quickly gorging themselves on any food left uncovered! Not millions of them but some. The sparrows didn't bother me but the flies could be rather persistent.
Drinks wise, the beer was great stuff and I found the wine OK too, perfectly drinkable. I'd read that the spirits weren't up to much but I got on fine with the gin and my partner liked the rum. I tried a few of the cocktails and they were OK too, though one was pretty much like another.
The hotel is ideally located right on its own beach complete with reef. The Red Sea is beautiful and the snorkelling is wonderful. You can see the most amazing fish from the floating pontoon leading out from the beach but snorkelling along the edge of the reef is simply breathtaking with hundreds of brightly-coloured fish.
I gather the resort town is a short bus-ride away but we didn't leave the hotel!
The staff were wonderful. Very friendly and helpful the manage to get the balance right - attentive without being overbearing. From the moment we arrived everything just seemed to go right - we couldn't have lifted a finger if we'd tried! Our drinks orders were remembered, our glasses topped up and the staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. They work long hours but were always cheerful and courteous.
Entertainment - I don't know, we didn't take much interest in it. The last night, though, was Egyptian night. All the tables were set out by the pool and the staff wore traditional costumes. There was a crowd of traditional entertainers and the noise of the band together with the floorshow and costumes and the smoke from the barbeque made for an atmospheric and truly memorable evening.
In short this was a wonderful holiday that was hard to fault. I would definitely look forward to another visit to the Hilton Sharks Bay.

What can I say, we had an excellent flight out there and although the airport was fair to say 'manic' we made it through to be greeted by some of the most cheerful reps I've ever known!
We were taken to our hotel on a clean air-conditioned bus and after only a 5 minute drive found ourselves pulling into the Hilton Sharks Bay. From arriving we were greeted with smiles by porters who unloaded our bags while we checked in, we were then whisked off down to our room on a golf buggy by a great porter who pointed out all the hotels amenities on the way.
Our room was of excellent standard, two what I'd describe as queen size beds, bigger than singles for sure, that were the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. A lockable fridge (stocked up daily with bottled water), tea and coffee making facilities and a great sea view, we'd paid for it and we sure got it, we did not have a balcony but we were right next to sunset bar so did not need it. You also have a free safe in the room to keep valuables in, though I would trust the staff in that hotel as they were the nicest ive known. The room boy was excellent, kept our room spotless and again left us some very amusing towel sculpture's and always made effort to say hello and ask us what we were doing with our day.
The beach area is excellent split into lots of little terraces, so you never feel too crowded, and the diving off the hotel pontoon is out of this world! The pool areas are excellent too, lots of shade and kept spotlessly clean. We tried the full body Eqyptian massage too in the health club, done wonderfully and they have a table by the beach too if you dont want to walk upto the health club.
Food, we both found was excellent, my travel companion is vegetarian and allergic to eggs and diary products, and he found something to eat at every meal time no problem. Especially enjoyed were the waffles and omelettes made to order at breakfast and pizzas and pasta dishes made to order at the main meal! It did seem to be a little repetitive but I've found that in all hotels I've worked, and no problems with tummy bugs at all, spotted a few sparrows as reported in past but had no problems with flies on the food at all.
The all inclusive beverage option is well served, the sakara beer was very drinkable, and the wines were good too. The cocktail menu was also tested too and was popular with us.
The hotel entertainment was a bit hit and miss and would be repetitive if there for more than one week, but was made up by the enthusiasm and friendlyness of the anaimation team, though the daytime activites were fun and well run.
During our week we went on two of the Thomson organised excursions, the first was a boat trip to Ras Mohammed National Park, you need a visa for this one but the snorkelling was amazing, little tip buy your own snorkelling gear if your hotel has a beach you'll use it there and saves you hiring it on this trip. The Lunch was very nice too, with both of us have good plateful.
The second was a quad biking trip to a bedouin camp in the desert, very bumpy but a lot of fun and the bedouin tea was quite nice. On both of these trips the guides were very professional but very friendly too, really made the difference on both these days.
This was our first trip to Egypt but definitely won't be the last. We will definitely stay at the Hilton Sharks Bay again and bring friends with us, but go for two weeks and take enough money to do all the activities next time as there was so much more we wanted to do.

All staff in the hotel could not do enough for you, they were always smiling and happy in their work. Each day we were eager to see what shape the houseboys had made from the towels. Our room was immaculately cleaned every day. The houseboys even came with a large floral display for me, we have never had this service at any other hotel.
The hotel food was a bit repetitive but there was a good variety and the Italian restaurant made really tasty pasta dishes.
The snorkelling was out of this world, this was the first time I had snorkelled properly and it was well worth it, the size and variety of the fish was amazing. My husband took many underwater photographs he was totally amazed by the variety of fish, he even saw one about 5 foot long, glad I didn't see that one.
The entertainment staff worked really hard but it was a bit repetitive.
The location of the Hotel is very good as long as you are able to walk up and down the sharp incline and steps to the beach. For the less mobile this could cause a problem, though staff will always give you a lift to the beach on their golf buggies, if you need it.
We would both visit this Hotel again, and would throughly recommend it to anyone travelling to Sharm el Sheikh. Women travelling in a small group would feel very safe at this Hotel, all staff were very respectful towards everyone and in particular towards women.

I would agree with most other posts, the hotel is constantly being cleaned, the staff are very friendly, the entertainment was varied with a different show 6 nights a week. If you didn't want the entertainment there were other areas of the complex to go to avoid it!
During the 2 weeks the food was varied, I managed to have different things every day, the make your own pizzas were especially good, as they are cooked in front of you.
The snorkelling from the hotel is wonderful, there is a reef on your doorstep, I brought my own snorkel and mask, but you can hire them on site.
We went on the Luxor trip, a full day starting with a coach pickup at 3am! But it was worth it, saw the Valley of the Kings, Karnak temple and other things as well, trip ended with a boat trip on the Nile - fantastic!
We only went in to the town on one night and decided not to go back, too full of people pestering you to buy/eat/drink/smoke anything! Would go back again! Great for a relaxing holiday, good mix of nationalities, German, Russian and Brits in equal quantities which made a refreshing change.
Never had a problem getting a sunbed. An indoor bar was opened the last day we were there which will be good as it can get a bit chilly at nights if you haven't got a fleece on.

Infact loads of my relatives including myself are going now to Hilton Sharks Bay next year over xmas.
You con go snorkling and they are amazing Im not a fan of them myself but i was so amazed i went in the sea. You can go on banana boats and go paragliding which is also fantasmagorical!
I made so many friends and they are so kind the house keeping people are experts at cleaning the rooms and the food was so nice my couisns had to move from the Maxim Plaza because the food was disgraceful and the food is a dream here.
The pools are fine and the jacuzzi and the sauna and the steam room is free what could be better. There is also a brand new disco room there and and it is massive. The mini golf is crazy cool and every shopkeeper is so kind and there manners are fantasmagorical!!

Hotel only 5km from the airport but little or no aircraft noise. The most friendly and courteous staff you could ever wish to meet.
The standard of food was high with something for everyone. Local alcohol including Egyptian red wine was fine and quite drinkable. 25 degrees every day during our visit with cloudless blue skies but cold in the evening.
All bars are out doors at the moment so take warm clothing for the evening although a new purpose built in door bar area is due to open late February this year.Everything is included even bottled drinking water in the rooms.
Take small denomination Euro or 1$ bills or pound coins to reward the staff for their excellent service! We shall certainly return - recommended!

On arrival we found our accommodation to be very good and it was kept spotless and thoughtfully tidied by the housekeeping staff.
The staff could not do enough for us and seemed to genuinely enjoy interacting with our 4 year old. They are very tactile with children, so be prepared.
The food was OK, nothing special, but do try the falafel and roasted vegetable sandwiches at the Sunset Bar. The food put out especially for children was very monotonous, pasta, baked potatoes, bolognaise sauce. At home my son will try most things, but I think the new eating environment threw him a bit, so it would have been nice to see some childrens basics once in a while eg chicken nuggets, baked beans, fish fingers.
Sadly, despite being advertised and the contact number being in the Welcome Pack, the Babysitting service did not materialise. The Kids club was not up to much either, it only ran for 3 1/2 hours a day and the staff from the Animation Team obviously did not enjoy running the club. Our son often left after a few minutes, because he did not want to do colouring again. It also came to light that as he was only 4 we needed to be present when he attended, something we were not told when we made our initial enquiries.
As a result of the non-existent child care we could not take full advantage of the diving on offer. However, we found the dive centre to be excellent with helpful and friendly staff.
We would visit this hotel again, if it was only myself and my husband.

The hotel is excellent, probably to UK 3* standard, but would not say it was 5* as advertised! However, everywhere is kept spotlessly clean, from public areas to gardens and beach terraces.
Honestly, I have never experienced staff friendlier, courteous in every detail, and just plain go out of their way to make sure you are welcomed and comfortable. I've seen "pasted-on" smiles in many places - Egyptian people are genuine and warm in every regard. This Hotel simply has to be applauded for their staff who are amongst the best I have ever encountered
