The resort was not to bad in the cleanliness department all rubbish is from the tourest but maybe more effort on the collection.
Entertainment was mainly bars and tavernas that are all very much alike.
The beaches are very regimented with row upon row of sunbeds and very little room for towels, mats and the like. We used the beach at the Maria end of the resort entry via the Ikaris Hotel road, this was a lot more open and a lot quieter.
Only reason we would not go back to the resort is the lack of footpaths/pavements as these are a must for the amount of mopeds/quadbikes that constantly fly up and down the beach road. These really are a pain and danger to everone on foot.
Some really good restaurants that serve local dishes the ones we enjoyed, Artemis,Anatolia(Sunday Roast try grrek version) and our favourite was the Creta right by the sea and on the odd night they get the guests up for a bit of a dance and plate smashing.

Stalis is a really good resort, nightlife goes on to the early hours and the beaches were really nice. The only downside about the resort is there's too many quad bikes and scooters which do scare you because there are no pavements but we just got use to them.

The usual mix of pubs, restaurants, shops,& supermarkets. The food in any restaurant we ate in was lovely and not too expensive. Try Roma, Corali, Akti and especially one further down opposite the palm beach hotel (can't remember the name).
Anybody interested in the price of smirnoff, the cheapest(1 ltr just under 11 euros) place to get it is the big supermarket where the ATM is outside.
Family resort with the usual entertainment but the noise of the quads sometimes was a bit much.
The beach was good but a bit narrow in places and was always packed. It would also have been about 15-20 minutes away from the apartments. Didn't think it worth the walk in the blazing sun when we had such a good pool.

Stalis is a lovely resort with plenty of bars and restaurants along the main beach.
The main beach of Stalis is about a 10-15min walk from the Lyda Horizon complex. When you reach the beach, don't settle at the beginning of the beach, walk another 2mins up the beach to where it gets a bit wider. Water sports and sun beds are also much cheaper further on up the beach. My wife and I went out on a jet ski for €35/20mins and it was excellent fun, totally recommend it. The beach is lined with plenty of snack bars and restaurants that are all very reasonably priced.
Stalis Beach Restaurants and Bars
Many of the restaurants we visited along the beach road served really nice food and each of them were very reasonably priced. I would recommend the Carpricciosa restaurant for their delicious pizzas and steaks, the staff are also extremely welcoming. The 9 Muses restaurant is also another great place for an evening meal with a menu to suit everyone – who knows the staff may even invite you to smash some plates. If you prefer a lighter snack then Akti Bar is a great place to visit, they also do great cocktails for €5 each. Edem restaurant serves up a great full English breakfast for only €3.90.
One of our holiday highlights was Dwyer's Irish Bar. Most of our nights were spent their as the craic and banter was mighty, with nightly live music from Brian (the human duke box) and other various singers. Shout up any request to lads on stage and they'll be sure to do your song request justice. They have various themed nights here like Paddy's Day and Christmas, dress up, join in the craic and you'll be sure to get yourself a free shot.

we stayed in stalis which was very friendly clean and had a lovely atmosphere! there were plenty for people of all ages to do with a good mix between traditional and tourists. the rest of crete was easy to access relativly cheaply and worth a look. we did some of the tour operators trips and book some independantly on the island too which were just as good if not better! would love to return was loads of fun!

Stalis is a clean well kept resort with plenty of restaurants to suit all tastes. Stalis is more of a family/older couple resort compared with Malia which is for the young teenagers who want to sleep all day and party all night.
Stalis beach is lovely clean sand with entertainment and plenty of beach facilites, but if you want a sunbed or parasol you will to pay.
Old Malia village worth a visit as not overrun by the rowdy teenagers.
Word of warning when out walking in Stalis/Malia especially from late July to late August when all the British teenagers tend to descend upon Malia. There are not many pavements provided so for most of the time you have to walk in the edge of the road. You have to be very wary of the idiots who go tearing around on their hired scooters and quadbikes. If you have any children with you make sure you keep them close to you.
Stalis is an ideal base for visiting other resorts along the north east corner of Crete. A wonderful resort to visit only spoilt during high season by the constant noise of the scooters and quadbikes and having to have eyes in the back of your head because of some of the idiots who ride them.

The resort is clean, but I found it a little too touristy for my liking. However, everyone was friendly - sometimes too friendly! It was very difficult to walk past restaurants without being asked to go into the establishment.
The beach was clean but every square inch seemed to have a hotel or restaurant sun lounger on it, for which you have to pay, so watch out.
Despite all this, we loved the holiday and hope to return in the summer.

The resort Stalis was excellent there are so many Taverners they are great the food was exceptionally great, there are many bars with loads of entertainment, too many to chose from, be carefull of the Robin hood bar as they do literally rob you, The beach was fabulous with many sunbeds and parasols to hire from as little as 3 euros
