The resort of Stalis is quite small. One street stretches miles though. The usual waiters trying to get you into the restaurants but they were not too pushy and mostof them were very sweet.
If you say you have eaten they give you a card and ask you to come back another night. There seemed to be a few clubs but we didn't use them being middle aged!!The prices for food was quite good and cheaper than the UK we found.
Trips can be booked in the town and there is also a little train that takes you around and up to Malia which is nice for a couple of hours.
The beach is quite small but the water is clear and vibrant blue. If you don't want to sit on the beach you can use the hotels along the front and use their pools and then walk onto the beach for another swim which is a nice touch.
Easy to get around on the buses which stop on the main road.
All in all I would go back to Stalis as the people are so friendly and there were no lager louts that we saw during our stay.

Stalis and it´s neighbour cities Chersonnisos and Malia provide a vast range of taverns, bars, clubs and shops, so i guess everyone will find what he is looking for.
The beach at Stalis even in early season often is very much overcrowded, but east of Malia there are some beautiful beaches, that are easy to reach.
If you like to see more of this beautiful island, i would recommend a rental car. From Stalis you can reach most of the island.

The resort was good fun for our family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers 17 & 15. Yes it is quite commercial but that worked for us. Teenages could hire mountain bikes 5 Euro per day so they could go off and explore resort. If you hire a car on a Sunday make sure it has petrol, as most petrol stations are closed. We would come back to this resort in October as it had just the right level of entertainment and not too busy. Try to go up the side streets as there are many good places to eat. Explore the area around as it is full of great pleces to visit.

All inclusive holidays are mainly confined to your hotel, the nana beach is a resort in itself, Clean, good entertainment there if you require, a lovly beach to swim, dive, snorkel or just laze away the day and yes i think in a few years i will go back again.

The beaches are lovely and clean, there are various watersports paragliding, jet ski etc .
We spent most of our evenings in either the Pegasus bar or the Coach and Horses (lovely engish food).
The resort has something for everyone you can either go wild or you can have a quite evening playing quizs & bingo.

Stalis was pitched as a quieter neighbour to Malia and Hersonissos, more suited for couples and families...which I suppose it probably is. However quiet it never was - even at end-of-season there were continual cars, scooters, and quad-bikes, some with silencers removed, which drove up-and-down the beach road and the main road at all hours of the day and night. During the day there were also flat-bed vans with PA systems on driving up and down the beach road, but speaking in Greek. And on Sunday mornings the Church bells go off at 7.30am...yet worse they are piped through loudspeakers on the beach road!!! This is followed at about 8am by nearly 2 hours of Greek Orthodox wailing, also through the loudspeakers.
In short, if you are a light sleeper, you are in trouble!
The resort looked very clean, however, and the beach was kept near-spotless, with acres of sunloungers taking up much of it (you won't get much privacy!). Entertainment is limited to a few clubs and a fair number of bars up and down the beach road, but Malia and Hersonnisos are almost walkable in either direction, and buses/taxis plentiful.
Food in Stalis was for the most part uninspiring (we were eating Greek food or seafood most days) - with the exception of the Amici Italian restaurant in Stalis, which was very good, we had better food in most other towns we visited around the island. There are though a few Greek restaurants in the resort which don't automatically serve chips, the best of which being Roma at the western end of the resort. Mythos and Golden Beach also served good food. At the other end of the scale, El Greco and Hoveli deserve particular mention for being very poor, despite both being recommended in guide-books or on websites.
I am sure much of the comments on noise also apply to the other main resorts on the island, but our visits to Ag Nik and Rethymnon did not reveal the same level. Location-wise Stalis is perfect for exploring the East and the Centre of the island, but as a resort we have reservations about recommending it - the beach and the location are it's only real good-points.
For car-hire, we used EuroMotor and were impressed. We also nearly used EuroCar, which looked marginally better, but they didn't have the right car available (booked at 1-day notice, so not really their fault). I would recommend either of these. I would also caution against quad-bike hire - in the fortnight before our arrival there were two rider-fatalities locally and one pedestrian badly injured by one.

Resort was great, beaches were beautiful and local people very friendly. Entertainment varied from traditional Greek dancing (wonderful) to live music, karaoke, quizzes etc. A good range of excursions on offer as well as excellent local bus service to other towns and resorts in Crete. Very noticeable litter free beaches and resort shopping areas. Wonderful churches throughout the area and well worth a visit for the sheer beauty of the decoration if nothing else.Range of eating establishments was fantastic with choices to suit all tastes. Only downside was number of motorcycles and quads going too fast in shopping areas but this is down to drivers not resort. Would definitely visit again, a lovely island and lovely people.

We stayed inbetween Stalis and Malia, Stalis was a much more quiet family resort with two main bars for the younger generation and alot of quieter taverners and cocktail bars. The beaches were very clean and there was always enough sunloungers for everyone. Stalis was much more of a family resort, whereas Malia was aimed more at my age range, although Malia was quite a small village, the ammenities, bars, clubs, resteraunts made up for its lack of size. I felt totally safe in the resort centre, with constant security guards patrolling late at night. As I came on this holiday for the clubs and nightlife, and i can say from everywhere i have been Malia has by far the best nightlife ive ever experienced!

Stalis is a very nice resort with plenty of facilities, lovely restaurants, many directly by the beach with sea views. There a lot of shops and bars, with a hand full of 'music bars'. It is only a short way from nearby Malia (18-30 heven... or hell!!) and a short taxi/bus ride to Hersonissos which has loads of shops, lively bars and nice sea front restaurants.
The beach at Stalis is clean, long and sandy, with loads of sunbeds/brollies for hire. Each bar/restaurant has their own patch on the beach, with the average cost being 3E for two beds+brollie for the day. You are of course expected to use that bar for your drinks, snacks etc whilst on their patch.
The 'beach road' is the main strip in Stalis were all the facilities are located. This runs all the way to Malia and can be walked in about 30 mins.
Unfortunately the main problem with Stail is the large number of Quad bikes, mopeds etc riden mostly by young Brits (from nearby Malia???) which go up and down the beach road all day and night. This is really annoying and quite dangerous, although we did not see any accidents there were some 'near misses'.
Direct Holidays and most Tour Ops do not recommend hiring them, and you aren't covered by most hol Insurance. We were told that next season they are going to ban them from the beach road, which would make Stalis a much nicer resort.
