kalamaki is a great family resort or for couples who want to be away from the hustle and bustle. loads of great places to eat. try milos restaurant, yannis is one hell of a guy, food was great and he and his staff always made you feel welcome, heras restaurant is another must to visit, freddy and the boys again made us feel welcome. but the place that topped the holiday off for us was the iguanas bar. harris spyros and angella, what can we say? if there were medals for customer service then they would get gold. they were absolutely fantastic and they gave us some great laughs throughout the holiday, we were so sad to leave them. first on our list to visit when we get back next year.

Bins overflowing but could stand that as we love the resort. beach lovely. we would come back to Kalamaki. from what we could make out there was plenty of entertainment in the resort.

Kalamaki Beach nearby is fantastic. We did lots of snorkelling and there is lots to see. I would recommend going to Kalamaki Beach and not Crystal Beach as it is bigger and has more sun beds. Also try Stani's Restaurant on Kalamaki Beach for lunch as it is extremely good!
I would also recommend Mermaids Restaurant on Kalamaki Strip if you want a lovely Greek meal! This place was always busy and the food fab! Had the best Greek meal here.
The whole resort is failry clean but the bins spill onto the street in some places and can be quite smelly to walk around.

I love Zante, thats why I have been there 4 times and would go back again. I feel very comfortable there, it is a busy place and cleanliness is not bad, obviously you have empty bottles and fag ends lying around but that is down the holiday makers having little or no respect for their surrounding, I found this amazing when on the beach in Kalamaki, as it is a protected area, where Turtles come to nest there are so many do's and don'ts set out but still nothing done about the condom packets and fag ends. Pleased people show some respect.

Kalamaki as a resort was a little grubby, beach the same due to the turtles not being diturbed, the resort bars fought to see who showed football on the largest screen, sadly no quiet tavernas to be found, although lots of restaurants.
Due to the infestation of Eastenders,Coronation street and Premiership football shown in most if not all bars. I doubt if I would return, although I must state that venue bar was clean, and had hard working staff.

I liked Kalamaki for the bars, restaurants and entertainment, but didn't like the beach. It was dirty and scruffy and i'm sure the beaches elsewhere on the island are much nicer. We had a lovely pool at the Antonis so it wasn't a problem.

Generally fairly tacky, aimed at British or Irish, with lots of bars with non-stop football on large TVs. Well back from the beach, which is closed in the evenings to protect the turtles.
Very good Italian restaurant is Buon Amici. Michaelos (5 mins back from the main street) excellent Greek food - lots of Greek customers, which is a good indicator. Other good restaurants were Dias, Hera, Tesoros and Zepos (neaar the beach). Many serve good and cheap breakfasts, but we were disappointed with Mermaids - cooked breakfasts were cold. Not impressed with Pandesia - our hotel had a 10% discount card, which the staff ignored. Staff rude and service slow at Zakintos and Escape, and Zakintos added extra for credit cards.
Tours from Friends cheaper than from tour reps. Avoid the cruise round the island - long and boring. The jeep safari was excellent, but driver a bit manic!

Kalamaki is a lovely place to holiday. Kalamaki Beach is beautiful and the variety of the bars and restuarants is great, especially the evening meals they served, the food was so delicious! We loved eating out in kalamaki. The evening entertainments in the bars was very fun, always gave us a laugh to be out in kalamaki. During the day kalamaki is quieter, but it's nice to just be able to amble along the main street browsing the shops at a relaxed pace.
The airport may be close by to kalamaki, but after a day or 2 you hardly notice, trust me, kalamaki is a lovely place to stay and we can't wait to holiday here again.

Loved Zante and Kalamaki, we went to Tsilivi last year and would be hard pressed to choose a favourite. Plenty of nice restaurants, our favourites being Escape, Dias and Stanis. The cave Bar is well worth a visit. We would definately give Castellos 0/10 the worst food out of 2 holidays by far. Check out the exchange rates in the local stores before using your hotel or apartment.
