Calangute is busy as I think most people are aware, the taxi drivers are annoying but they soon give up if you pay them no attention. There is a lot of choice of places to eat, many good restaurants too. However, Calangute Beach is far too commercial and I chose to travel to other areas to get away from all that manic hassle. The sunbeds are too close to one another and it feels as though the whole place is sponsored by Coca Cola. I like the little fixed price shops around Calangute, as it gives you a good idea of the true cost of things at the markets etc.

I'd only visit the area again because there are lots of options for taxis/restaurants, not because it is picturesque, because this it most certainly is not!

goa takes some getting use to at first no pavements loads of traffic rubbish and cows on the roadside, once you get over the initial shock youwill have a great holiday the beachs are great, the food is great and extreemly cheap, the people are all so willing too help .the resort could do with a few more bars with entertainment although one or two do open late.do recommend taking several trips but use the taxi drivers outside your hotel as they take far cheaper than the holiday reps

We spent much of our time on the beach and shopping in calangute and baga, with some days out spent further a field. I loved the beaches around calangute and baga and all the beach shacks we visited lived up to the recommendations.

All in all I would definately recommend goa and this hotel and a quick mention to First choice who I thought were fantastic, it was definately the best long haul flight I have been on!

Calangute resort is very busy and did not have the laid back charm that we had expected. The beach is very dirty at the main entrance and then there is beach shack after beach shack with disgusting sun beds that cannot we wiped down between users due to the material covering
Didn't get to experience the shopping as we moved to south goa which was idillyic with beautiful clean beaches and less busy with beach shacks but still plenty to do if just lazing on the beach is not your cup of tea.
Think carefully about what you want out of your holiday and research before deciding north or south

Resort was just the same as always, very dusty and busy.

Always something happening with regards to entertainment.

Beach standard was average.

We stayed on the outskirts of Calangute which had much less dust in the air than the centre. Everything you could need was just a couple of minutes walk away, chemist, jewellery shops, tailors, supermarkets, bars, restaurants and Daytrippers

It is noisy, dirty, smelly and hot butwith an ambiance which we have never experienced anywhere else. The beaches are fine with free sunbeda and towels but beach sellers can be a nuisance

Calangute is not the best of the three local resorts (Calangute, Baga and Candolim). While it is very handy for some great bars and restaurants it does seem to be dirtier and busier traffic-wise than the others

Entertainment is great provided you want good restaurants and bars. We ate out every lunchtime and evening, trying different places, and we didn't have a bad experience.

The Calangute beach is the one you walk past to get to Baga or Candolim. Better still - get a taxi past it.
