Hotel situated in the middle of Calagunte. The best enetertainment was sitting in the cafe on the corner and watching the traffic negotiating the roundabout, the occassional elephant and cow. Was a free for all !!!!!
Calagunte beach was a dissappointment due to the number of shacks which far exceeds demand. Beach littered with rubbish.

It must be remembered that this is a Third world country, but if you look beyond the litter and untidiness you can see that it's a friendly place.
Having been here four times, I can accept what I see more easily now.
Resort restaurants are very good, both in value and food.
Some beach bars are quite good, but you have to make your choice on which one you visit and they will provide you with a sunlounger, although these are not as clean as you would wish, so always make sure you have a towel with you.
And be prepared to see a herd of cows wandering about the beach, no hassle from them.
Yes I WILL visit this resort again, it's quite a long flight, but you chill out quickly and before you know it, the holiday is near it's end and it's over too soon.

One of the best small resorts in the locality, very close to the beach, excellent service, clean, homely, very moderately prized. Very Goan.

I have rated cleanliness as excellent as I have been to worse areas but what you have to remember is india is a poor country and don't expect to much. You do see rubbish laying about and it is dusty and noisy but that's goa and there are dirty areas of the resort but if you are worried about cleanliness go to spain!!! If you go to Goa understanding the poverty and go with your eyes wide open and not expecting too much then you will love it

Calangute is getting dirtier every year and no money is spend on anything to clean up the place or help the local people,it's becoming a tipping ground ,more people are homeless and begging and the many, many dogs are fouling the beach also rubbish is dumped anywhere and not cleaned ,the cars buses and motorbikes drive like mad.

Calangute is neither dirty nor spotless. It's a lot cleaner than a lot of English towns. Plenty of bars and restaurants catering for all tastes. A couple of fast food places have appeared along with a couple of 'English" run. Some are OK some avoid at all cost. Why travel all that way and eat food you would not eat at home just because it's 'English' run
Beach is fabulous, you can also walk to Candolim or Baga.

It's Goa, what do you expect. As long as you know you are in for manic roads with lots of beeping, lots of people, no pavements and dirt tracks then it's fine. Yes there is some rubbish along some of the roads but all shops and beach approaches are kept clean as are the beaches. The reception everywhere is friendly and helpful and you get any food you want from English (if you must) to pleasant multi-cultural restaurants to the basic Goan cafes where we and all the locals eat (try Sarvesh - opp Calangute market and Punjabi Daba (last roundabout before beach)
