Gran Canaria itself is a great place, but be aware if it rains there is absolutely nothing to do in the day!

Gran Canaria is a great place for either a singles / couples / family holiday. It provides all amenities for every group of interests.
Some of the comercial centres could do with a lick of paint and a little attention but I did visit at the start of the season. The beaches are fantastic and many on offer.
There are many holidays you can have here you can be the Brit abroad or you can venture and see some beautiful scenery or enjoy a taste of Spain in the wide choice of cuisine on offer.
Playa del Ingles makes a sound base for great holiday and caters for all.

This is a fantastic resort, with great entertainment, great beaches, great nightlife and plenty to do in the day.
There is everything you could want right on your doorstep, plenty of supermarkets, plenty of places to eat and plenty more places to drink.
We had a great week and highly recommenend this resort to anyone!

Playa del Ingles was a nice resort, the only thing that spoilt it for us was that out of seven days only one day it didnt rain, even the locals said they never had so much rain before.
There is nothing to do if it rains except to sit in a bar and drink!! Still hasnt put us off though, as we know that everywhere in the Caneries had suffered freak weather this year.

As the resort was in the middle of a 10 day festival it was like a dump every morning with mountains of litter everywhere. I have not come across such a mess even after a big football match.
The entertainment was all focused around the 10 day festival of the sardine with parades as big as I have ever seen, the main parade took about 4 hours to go about 1 mile. I believe the festival celebrates the prosperity of the sea but no one could give a definite answer.
Beware if you go on holiday at carnival time all of the entertainment ends with a show in the Yumbo centre and if I go again I would stay at least half a mile from there to avoid the disruption from the parades etc.
The beach was really good but very windy with fine sand blowing up. The best way to sunbathe on the beach is to get a couple of loungers and an umbrella to shelter you from the wind.
The resort is very large and has various centres. The Irish centre is about as Irish as cream tea and the standard of drink was as poor as I have had anywhere. Some of the spirits tasted like petrol, I would rather pay more and get the real thing rather than low quality, 2 for ones.
This was my second and last time in Playa Del Ingles.

Never tried the Las Burras beach but after a half hour walk ended up in the nudest section of the dunes. This was brill. Probably this time of year but no gangs of louts were roaming around. In fact the average age was about 90.
Made for a nice relaxing holiday. Saw a dead OAP though. He did'nt make it up a flight of stairs. Can think of worse places to end it.
Found a lovely eating place on the bottom floor of the San Augstin shopping center. Owned by a Vietnames chap. For about a fiver you got garlic bread, tuna salad, steak & chips, a drink of your choice and a sweet brandy to finish with. mmmmm.
All in all brill and I'd go again.

The resort has a lot to offer any person of any age, with quiet bars/restaurants through to nightclubs for people of all ages.
The beach runs through to the sand dunes of Maspalomas, where there is enough sand for everyone!!!
The only complaint is the dog mess in places in the resort, but then that's the same as most towns I suppose.
Overall I would definitely recommend Playa Del Ingles/Maspalomas for any holiday, and also they're only twenty-five minutes from the airport.

The island was spotless the beach was really clean the entertainment was good something for everyone. The only thing that did get on my nerves was the hawkers trying to get you in there bars.

Could not stay on the beach because there was a sand storm every day (you needed goggles).
Resort clean except for occasional dog excrement
