Not a 4star and dated, and some staff members rude , we book this hotel on its ratings , but it about a 3star

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

Cap Salou is very small and quiet. One street really with about 4 pub/restaraunts and couple os supermarkets and 1 pizza joint. That's it! There is an ok pub with good food called Smugglers, well worth a visit but very long waiting times for food service. Beach is ok, does not appear to be cleaned very often. Salou beaches better and La Pineda 10 mins walk superb!
Hope it does not sound to negative. We are family holiday veterans and this has ben our worst. First time so no big deal! Kids make the most of anything and thats the main thing! Would not go back...EVER!!!
Unbiased either way get on with anyone but it should have been called Little Ireland! Nothing but Irish people there. No Jocks, Couple of Welsh and a handful of English. Kids struggled to understand the Irish kids.

Catch the local road-train. Once on this train you pay roughly £1.50 and it takes you and you family on a steady tour around the neighbouring areas. Depending on whether you go clockwise or anti-clockwise, it takes you out of Cap Salou, into Salou itself, past Fort Aventura, onto La Pineda and back through Cap Salou Village until you arrive back at the Negresco. During this trip you will realise where you can walk to quickly for entertainment and where can be got to quickly by travelling.
Apart from the road-train there is also the option of going on the local buses which follow the same route but at less than half of the price, the train is better the first time to get your bearings but the bus is the one to choose if you are to use it frequently, they tend to come every 15 mins.
Salou - This is a busy resort both day and the night, it has pleanty of bars/shops for the adults and there are also parks and attractions for the kids. The beach here is especially busy with more than enough from beds to speed boats for hire. If you turn left out of the hotel it takes 15mins to walk or 2mins by bus.
Cap Salou Village - You have to be very carefull not to miss this as it is only small but it is a great place for the kids. It has a clean quiet beach and can easily be walked to within 2mins by turnind right out of the hotel.
La Pineda - This again is a quiter place than Salou by night, it is a more up-market resort and a nice place if you want to get away from it all. In La Pineda is the water park (Aquapolis) which we visited, well worth the money, and if the idea of such a place doesn't interest you then at night they open it up as a childs heaven, there are trampolines, crazy golf, remote control boats, go carts etc, but during the day it is again quite busy.
Port Aventura - Wow.Wow.Wow.Wow. - What a place, make sure you put a full day aside for this, we went at 10:00 am and spent the day on the rides and walking around the five themed areas. The best way to approach it is do all the rides in the day, then take in the shows at night because they make full use of lighting and fireworks. The ideal thing about the park is that if you spend the day time there you can get your hand stamped, go home for a shower and dinner, then return and get back in for free later, refreshed and ready to start again (doesn't close untill midnight). DEFINATELY WORTH DOING.
If you want to explore more than the close surroundings you can get a bus into Tarragona which has some of the nicer area of spain available or, continue into Barcalona where you can shop or be entertained to you your hearts content, these together will easily fill 3+ days.

we like salou and area. it offers plenty of choice for young and old alike.the nearby port adventura park is excellent.the rail links are first class. return ticket to barcelona is only 9.98 euros (excursions from hotels charge 30+ euros.the resort is clean as are the beaches. contrary to other parts of spain where we have stayed we found the locals neither friendly or helpful, again with some notable exceptions.

This seemed like a busy British resort such as Blackpool in the sun. It did have a nice harbour and marina and the sea front and promenade were very nice. Being all inclusive and a good 20 minutes from the sea front we did not use the bars or nightclubs of the resort so are unable to comment.

We only went to Salou for theme park, and well worth it, Salou is clean and friendly, lots of shops and a huge beach. I would recommend you stay nearer the portaventura end of salou as the other end is a bit tatty. Only two hour flight and 10 mins from reus airport makes it a must for familys with little ones.

Cleaned daily.
Could do with advertising entertainment in or arond hotels as we must have missed any entertainment that may have been going on.
beaches were very clean.
will not be visiting again.

the resort was excellent, it was very lively in most bars around 10 and 11 o'clock like at - 007bond and bus stop.there are a few clubs for young adults like - snoepys and crocs. drinks are very cheep 2 euro for a pint!
the beach is lovely, there are plenty water sports to do.
the sand is very hot you cant walk on it, you have to do a little dance to were ever you want to go.
i would recomend this holiday to familys with young kids and teenagers as there are plenty things to do like shopping and water parks and fair grounds.
i would definatly go again in the next two years!

we stayed in salou during the day it is a livly town with plenty of shops.the beach is well kept.it is also close to the portaventura theme park which is fantastic.well worth the money.at night salou comes alive with ravers and clubers.if it is not your seen then salou is not for you. we wont be staying in the heart of salou again as it is far to noisy.the shops and bars seem to close well into the early hours of the morning.even the beach comes alive at night with tractors and a litter patrol cleaning ang racking the sand for the next day.
