Not a 4star and dated, and some staff members rude , we book this hotel on its ratings , but it about a 3star

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

Reus airport -only 15 minutes drive away. Nice small airport - makes travelling a little more pleasant. Plenty of taxis that are properly licensed so you don't get ripped off! We decided to use public transport/ taxis for our holiday and even with five of us was a good decision. Buses and taxis are cheap and plentiful. Bus service puts ours in the shade!
Jeep safari - 44 euros per person - brilliant value and a fantastic day out! Got picked up from the hotel and spent the day in the mountains. Fantastic scenery, had a great lunch, a swim in a mountain lake and some brilliant off-roading. Not to be missed!
Boat trip from salou - excellent
Aquapolis - excellent
Portaventura - excellent. Allow at least two days though. we thought we could do it in one but barely managed a third. It is beautifully laid out and an enjoyable visit even if you aren't bothered about the rides!
So much to do here - will have to come back again to do the things we did not have time for.
We are not beach people but the beaches were fine. My personal favourite was Cala Crancs which was a sheltered, pretty cove. We had it all to ourselves on the day we went there. Mainly, I think, because it is slightly further away from the main Cap Salou beaches!
Easy to get to Salou itself which is jammed packed with all sorts of the usual tourist shops. Beautidul promenade along the length of the beach with some pretty fountains.
Lots of stuff going on in the Cap Salou village which seemed to be pretty lively at night but we never got there as we were too worn out from all our daytime activities!
Best thing was despite visiting at the end of the season everyone we had contact with was pleasant and charming, the area was clean and well cared-for and everywhere felt safe wherever, whenever you went.

port aventura and caribe resort were fab, the kids loved every minute, although very busy and having to queue for rides in the heat wasnt too good and the resort of salou has to be the worst i have ever been to, its vile, we went as a family and young lads from bars were trying to get us into nightclubs, i mean seriously a baby in a nightclub, the place was just rotten and skanky, i will never ever go back.

as far as the resort is concerned it was a noisy and rowdy place, ticket touts everywhere annoying and hassling you every night, if you are wanting a quiet and peaceful holiday do not go here.

The resort itself is stunning. We were only a 10 minute stroll away from the beach and new Salou town. Theres also a Mcdonalds and BurgerKing within 20 minutes away. Lots of little English bars and clubs. We even found a Weatherspoons, lol. Theres Jet ski's, banana boats and boat trips along the beach front too. And a hippy market at the top of the promenade. (If you do ever go there, look out for an african man, Demba, he makes lovely pictures and portraits out of sand, amazing work.) Theres also a market in Tarragona, a bus ride away. And a little train that takes you all around the resort and beach front for 6 euros. The beach is beautiful. Very clean also.
The resort really is lovely, The California Palace ruined my experience.

If there is a downside to Salou as a resort now it is the row upon row of British bars everywhere serving 'real British breakfasts and real British beer' and streets full of Indian market stallholder types selling tat in the souvenir shops. That was the real downside for me but, if you want home from home with mediterranean weather, then 5 minutes down the road from the Sol Costa Daurada hotel, your idea of Heaven awaits!

I always thought Benidorm was the capital of tat - Salou has it beaten hands down

Salou has some great beaches and the beachware is very reasonable to hire. We also went to La Pineda and a lesser known area called Torredembarre, further on up the coast past Tarragona. If you have a car, it's worth getting out and about and leave the masses to Salou

the resort was as clean as can be expected for a large tourist area, quite a lot of graffiti from the locals though, the main beech area was very nice and clean and theres plenty to do for most people the rac ralley was on when we were there with lots to look at,all in all we enjoyed our stay.
