Not a 4star and dated, and some staff members rude , we book this hotel on its ratings , but it about a 3star

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

Salou is ok. You go, enjoy yoursely take in the attractions and leave but Spain is huge so only because there are lots of other places to go in Spain I would not go back to Salou!

we liked the resort itself and the beach was clean , we liked the market stalls and we went to portaventura and the water park . we were disapointed that the colourful waterfall wasn,t working and that there wasn,t much happening entertainment wise on a night especially for the children but we got through the week ok. i don,t think we would go again unless it changed for the better.

salou is probably one of the most cleanest part of spain that i have been there are some great bars and restaurants it caters for all ages the people are friendly and accomodating the beach is excellent great for the family you do not get pestered by touts it has a calming effect on you i will certainly be visiting again and would love to live there as it is one of the best resorts in spain there is loads to do for the family from the theme parks close by there is go karting in reus which is 20-30 mins away and buses run daily from most local bus stops then there is barcelona for the shopping although salou has some great shopping there are some great markets in the surrounding area which are just a short bus ride away again from most local stops for a few euro theres also the fishing town of cambrils not far away

Salau is a very busy resort especially in august and is inundated with teenagers finding a space on the sand was very hard stepping overy people so we opted for the sunbeds with shade these are very expensive 14 euros for two so make the most of it and stay the day. plenty of supermarkets so avoid the beach bars for drinks and food etc double the price.. After a week we were tired of wandering around the very crowded streets. there are no bars suitable for familys etc to enjoy entertainment only teenage bars etc. So we would not go back to salau.

The resort was lively but mostly family orientated, the beach was fantastic and very clean.

The resort is a bit like Benidorm but not as tacky. There are lots of good placed to eat try Jack's bar it really good. Its just past Champions on down the next street on your right. It Irish/English home cooked food I never thought I could get a decent meal abroad. I didn't use any of the entertainment but I noticed quiet a few clubs as pubs which are local. Also the bus is a five minute walk from hotel which links you to Portaventura, Aquapolis, Barcelona, Tarragona etc. There is also a little train that transport you all around the resort 3 Euros adult 1.50 Euro's each child no matter where you go. The beach is ten minutes walk up hill and down hill you can avoid the steps if you walk up the coast and it is beautiful and not as busy as the beach at Salou centre. Directions- cross over the road from the hotel and take second left easy as that and you pass a bakery and chicken shop on the way back great for supper after a late swim.

You can get a bus right outside the hotel to Barcelona, Terragona, Salou and most importanly Port Aventura which was the reason for our going. The buses run late into the night so you can easily get back if you are out late. There are people working for the bus company in the street who can help you buy tickets and give timetables so there is really no need to hire a car.
The beach is very clean although the view of industrial Spain and the tankers in the back ground of our photos did remind me of Southend or Canvey Island!
There are lifeguards on the beach and the flag system in place for the currents as the sea does get quite rough. Sunbeds were available to hire all along the beach and a good range of beach kiosks and shops are available. There is a promenade which stretches almost the length of the beach which is very popular for joggers as well as walkers.
Port Aventura itself was excellent and unbelievabley reasonable for drinks and food, especially compared with the hotel!
There is a water park just down the road, in La Pineda, looks fabulous but be warned when you go, it cost us a family of 4 84E to get in and then you need to hire the rubber tyres to go on the rides or you have to queue at the bottom of the slides for hours sometimes just to get a go. The tyres cost 9E each to hire plus 5E deposit!! However we think this is a bit of a tourist scam as by the afternoon the lifeguards were only letting people have one go on the park tyres and then give them up to the next people in the queue so if you can wait you will save yourself money by not hiring. You feel you have to when you first get there but it's a bit like a fast track. There is an excellent dolphin and sea lion show which is worth a wait, so go have fun but don't get ripped off. Drinks and snacks inside this water park are also very expensive so all in all this could end up costing you a lot of money for a day out.
The water park at Port Aventura is better for slides and cheaper to get in as you get half price entrance with most tickets you purchase for the main park.
La Pineda is a good clean resort and has a lot to offer, but as I said earlier, we've been now and there's a big wide world out there so I doubt that we'll be back.

La Pineda is about 3km from Salou and has a lovely beach and lots of shops and bars and was very clean. Other than out hotel, we didn't find any entertainment around and people staying in other local hotels would come to ours in the evening and watch the entertainment.
