Not a 4star and dated, and some staff members rude , we book this hotel on its ratings , but it about a 3star

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

Blackpool with better weather. But something for everyone.

Salou has a lovely beach and promenade. The resort itself is a mix of hotels and residential properties which gives a good mix some nice bars like o'brians/titanic or the hole in the wall were good.
As it was nearing the end of the season it was quieter than at the peak but better for it in our opinion the best thing for us was how good the weather was considering how late in the year it was.

Salou, as a resort, is pretty much what we have come to expect from a Spanish resort which caters to the Northern European market. The area I stayed in was pretty quiet, but the further you go towards the centre the more built up and lively it becomes. Despite the fact that I enjoyed my holiday tremendously there were a few gripes I had with the upkeep of the area and the facilities available. For starters the pavements in the area all seem to be badly worn and there are holes in them which you could trip over if you weren't carefull. Most of the cafes and restaurants in the area cater for the British and Irish market but at a somewhat inflated price. If, however, you were like us, you will find some excellent local establishments frequented by the locals which sell tapas and bocadillos at an unfeasably good price and which are delicious. The prominade at the beach is lovely and well kept and the beach itself has everything that a self respecting sun worshipper could possibly want from a mediteranian beach. Just opposite McDonalds along the seafront the main bus depot for the area is located and you can buy tickets for all the main excursions to Barcelona and the surrounding areas from here which will save you quite a lot on the prices of the excursions which tour reps try to sell to you. We didn't really get to see much of the entertainment in the resort, preferring instead to make the short journey to Port Aventura on the outskirts of the town. This is the main reason that I would wish to return to Salou. Port Aventura has something for everyone and purchasing one of the three or seven day passes before you go means that you can saunter around it at your leisure or scare yourself silly on the thrill rides until the cows come home. The Feast Aventura is not to be missed either. This is the show at 11.45pm which wraps up the proceedings for the day with an impressive fireworks display. On a whole I would say that Salou has something for everyone of all ages and we will definitely be returning in the hopefully not too distant future.

The resort is a bit dirty but is probably due to most holidaymakers treating is badly. Roads are very busy and you have to be careful.
Lots of holiday shops selling the usual tat.
Restaurants selling basic food and entertainment.
Clubs cater for children early on but change after 11.
If you have teenagers keep an eye on them as the bars will sell them anything and give them shots (unfortunately my teenagers look more like 20 than 15).
Beach excellent; Sea warm (but did not see any life guards); sun beds 4 Euro, Parasols 6 Euro, (Lanzarote, Playa Blanca 2.50 Euros, July 2007); food drinks readily available on beach. WC close by.
Port Aventura (evening visit only 19:00-00:00) Excellent value but you have to push on to get around all rides.
Water Park at La Pineda Excellent value.
Get the local bus to these attractions as it is a lot cheaper. We saved 60 Euros on one trip doing it this way.

Salou is a nice beach resort, it has the usual souvenier shops and a few designer ones. There are lots of fountains around too! There was not much variety of restaurants from what we saw and all seemed quite expensive.
The area was always kept clean though and we saw many street cleaners during our stay.
the beach was clean but busy, it had shaded areas which were nice as it was so hot.
The entertainment for young people was not great. There were a variety of bars which apparently got busy at 1.00am, but we did not really feel this. The bars are also very spread out, there's about 3 or 4 together then you have to walk about 10 minutes to get to the next ones.
I would definitely recommend a trip to the water parks and to Portaventura, if you can get on the little train that takes you up there it is definitely worth 3euros rather than the 14euros we paid in a taxi! The bus is 1.55euros but is very busy and extremely stuffy on there with locals commuting and tourists getting on with lilos.
I probably wouldn't visit Salou again unless I was going with children, it is definitely a family resort.

Salou is busy, lively and very noisy. The main beach was heaving with people; however, there is a lovely beach near the hotel, which has a small cafe/shack on it and brilliant, safe waves for the kids to play in. There are loads of restaurants in Salou which offer inexpensive, tasty food. We generally paid 40 euros for a meal for 4.
We will definitely be returning to Salou.

The resort of la pineda is excellent you are away from the hustle and bustle of salou but there are still plenty of bars and restaurants and plenty of life if you want it .
The beach is lovely not overcrowded and the sea is very warm .
Portaventura is a five minute drive and salou about 10 minutes costing 10 euros in a taxi .
the airport costs 30 euros to the palas pineda hotel .
