Not a 4star and dated, and some staff members rude , we book this hotel on its ratings , but it about a 3star

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

the resort is spotless,
the entertainment is alright if you are aged between 18 and 38 as it it mostly discos and clubs, with music blasting out, donaire hotel is a family hotel and is just far enough away as not to be bothered by the noise,
the beach has got very pebbly since last year and could do with the sand being pushed back into the sea to make it nice and smooth again, the sand gets to hot to walk on with bare feet around mid day, so familys with very young children beware,
the beaches are cleaned every night or early morning,

The resort itself is very clean. Very Spanish. Have been to many areas in Spain and surrounding islands and Salou holds more of the Spannish tradition. Most bars allow children until 12 midnight but some of these are unsuitable due to the younger crowd. Loads of good bars, clubs. Charlie Chaplins, Bust Stob, Snopeys are a few i remember lol.
Beach is very clean. Different beaches to choose from, suitable for all.

Just got home from Cap Salou....
We've been to Salou on two previous occasions and this was our first time at Cap Salou, this will now be our area of choice for future visits. The Main part of Salou is about a 20min walk away along the coastal path / beach but be warned, if you walk along the beach there are around 160 steps climbing to road level at the end.
The walk to La Pineda is around the same distance in the opposite direction, no steps but far less scenic!
Cap Salou is quieter than Salou with only a few bars and restaurants. Route 66, The Knights Inn and Smugglers did it for us in Cap Salou. A walk into Salou itself and it was Icky's, Uncle Sam's and Boomerang.
Entertainment is provided by Tap House, The Knights Inn, The Crows Nest and Mickey's Karaoke bar.
Beaches are smaller and thankfully quieter tha the main one at Salou.
As I've said before, a return visit is on the cards.

The promenade is brill and the fountains all along are lovely some parts of salou are quite dirty and other parts are spotless so depends were you are staying. But on the whole not a bad place to stay.

Considering it's a 4* I expected to find a lot more to do there but sadly this wasn't the case, if you want to walk to Salou it takes 20 minutes but a bus & taxis are available.
If you go to Aqua Polis and have a child under 4 do not buy tickets off the reps as we did and then we found out when we got there that it was free for 0-4 year olds and cheaper so please don't get caught by this!.
Any trips you want to go on, there is a ticket office where you buy your bus tickets, get all your trips there a lot cheaper!!!
The resort is spotless very good cleaning staff!!! The entertainment staff are fab and they do put a lot on but I think a family hotel should quieten down by 10:30 p.m. at least when you have small children!!
The beaches are lovely and there is a nice beach opposite the hotel, it's very small but get's very busy and you have to climb down some rocky steps to get down there but is worth it.

shops and beach were a very short walk from our hotel which was a bonus with having a 3 year old, just neededd some more entertainment and things for younger children to do.

Salou were a nice resort with lots of shops and resteraunts. We didn't really find any good family bars as it were either a sit down pub with no atmosphere or a kareoke bar with bingo and quizes, nothing really in between.
We did see a few livelier bars but obviously having a 2 year old not for us.I would recommend the lazy wave or robin hoods if you have a family.Buddys bar do a mean burger, absolutely huge, definitley worth a visit.
The beach were nice and big with a nice lit promenade and good scenery. All of the beach huts sold nice food and cheap too. There is a gorgeous waterfall in the centre which is lit at nice.
All shops do seem to sell the same but I think they usually do when you are abroad. There were a few designer shops along the main strip and some nice resteraunts to.Salou were clean although some of the little side side streets where a little shabbier but not scruffy.
We didn't see any crime when we were there so that was good.Police were always patrolling the beach day and night so that were nice.
Taxis were avaliable at all times. We found some things in salou to be pricey, ie, i like my costume jewelry and you couldnt get a neclace for under 14 euro which is dearer than in England.
Food and drink id reasonably priced and there is a wide selection to choose from. Resort is quite lively all day and night but we didn't think there was much to do if you had young chidren.
We were told it was like benidorm but it wasn't. We wouldn't come back here unless we were on our own.

The resort of Costa Dorauda is a good family destination, with the brilliant theme park Portaventura and water park Costa Caribe close by, it has plenty to offer with a lovely clean beach and Barcelona an hour and a half away by coach, I would also recommend a jeep safari, it was our best day, Montserrat, which is an hour away was also beautiful, if you are looking for history and fantastic views, even our children thought they were beautiful. the shops near the seafront are however, typically tacky and I thought expensive, and if you look round one, you get followed around by the shopkeeper! The fountains along the promenade are lovely and give a lovely display in the evening, a recommended resort, but take lots of money! and if you do go to Portaventura, buy your tickets in the UK it was A LOT cheaper I paid 200 for a two week pass for four people and I didn't have to queue to get in, if you are going in peak season, I would recommend buying fast passes 20 euros for a few rides and 39 euros per person for all rides, and watch the fireworks, they were fantastic.
