Not a 4star and dated, and some staff members rude , we book this hotel on its ratings , but it about a 3star

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

The beach is crowded at the weekends but in the week plenty sunbeds and shade to hire. Plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from. Better to look around before buying as prices do vary for the same items from shop to shop.
Barcelona Football Stadium/ Zoo excursion very good day out for the family.
Also Portaventura theme park, although the height restrictions limited the rides for my 5 year old (140 cms)but again a great day out.
Public transport is easy accesible and cheap (bus and local 'noddy' train).
All in all a great holiday.

I liked the town and the beach and we all loved the caribe water park because it was different to others(all in walking distance or a short taxi ride away).
The fountains were fantastic of an evening, the maze was good for kids and adults, then futher along was a lazer show in the fountains with music and holagraphics.
There were lots of fire works going off as well and
lots of shops and supermarkets

Salou itself could do with a revamp and some decent nightlife.
The drivers are maniacs believe me a few near misses to me Salou caters for the middle aged people with plenty of pubs/restaurants with entertainment for the older generation all in all I wouldn't go back been to Bulgaria for the last 2 years and it knocks spots off this place.
Nice beaches nice people nice food good nightlife all these things disappointingly Salou did not have.

We went to Salou for a weeks holiday with family and friends. Hotel was very central to everything. Overall the hotel was very good. Cleanliness of the hotel was good and the food, most evenings, was very good. Good selection and the pancakes in the morning were delicious!! Poolside entertainment during the day was fine but at night time it was poor. Ok if you are a golden oldie (which we are not) for the old time dancing etc. Salou was overall very dirty and the Catalan people were not very friendly. Port Aventura park was good but expensive for a large family (no drinks or food allowed into the park). Weather was brilliant and we had sun-shine every day. Beach was very nice but extremely busy - would not like to take a todler there as it would be very easy to loose sight of them. Buddy's across the road from the hotel was excellent value for food and portion size. Go-karting very expensive but worth a try if you fancy it with a free bus running to and from it (but they have you as a captive audience while you wait for the bus and if you have young children there are plenty of gaming machines which will soon take all your money off you.
Overall we had an excellent holiday, would recommend the hotel mainly for it's central location and cleanliness.

This is a good resort to stay if your looking for things for the family to do.A bit like the Blackpool of Salou!
I would not however recommend the excursion to Barcelona Nou Camp....very disapointing and I didnt find the staff there at all friendly.
Overall rating though...4-5.....worth going!

As you can tell by the scores of the resort we didn't like salou one bit. we found alot of graffiti and 90% of the time in the town all you could smell was drains. the beach we visited twice and was like a tin of sardines and was not enjoyable at all. we found a couple of nice restaurants and bars, to name just a few The Robin Hood good food every time, Chippies (filled us up), Champions Bar (lovely owners), Buddy's & co (pricey but huge portions and worth every penny), Rosie Return (lovely British food), We visited an Italian but don't now the name but the food was to die for. The restaurants we didn't like were California WARNING do not eat here the food is awefull however there are a couple of restaurants with the same name the one we went to was by a bar called chip and dale, the captains cabin the food was lovely but the misses had a roach walking up her leg and it wasn't a baby more like mummy roach, on the way out there we seen some dead roaches on the floor by the kitchen, the next day we all had diarrhoea which is not nice with a 4 and 9 year old. all that said the best part of salou is the PORTUVENTURA park which is out of this world busy but worth every penny we had a 14day pass we found the best time to go up there was at around 330pm - 4pm as most of the crowds start dying down and there's no waiting for the big rides. Dragon Khan is awesome most have gone on it about 20 times. but what made the holiday was the new ride opening on the day we left its called FURIOUS BACO and trust me its furious 0 - 130KMH in 3 seconds all i can say is don't put your hands up your arms will hurt after. and try to smile at the start of the ride as that's when it takes your picture, when it starts you wont be smiling for long and if you can sit at the front as its the best seat and the scariest. the water park is good not the best ive been to but apparently there's a better one in La pineda. We will go back to salou but will stay at the park for a week and not bother with the town as we didn't like the place or the way the locals treated everybody.

The beach was very clean, well kept and very safe for young children. There were no water sports at this part of the beach.
The promenade which was the length of the resort was lovely for walking along in the evening and really well kept.
We enjoyed the water park at the top of the town, the dolphin show there was excellent.
Public transport was good, though they do like to fill the buses really well! we used it to go to Portaventura which worked out at 1.85 per person. It was very handy and there was always a bus ready to take you back to La Pineda.
We thought the restaurants were quite poor, wouldn't recommend 'The Captains Table' but the 'Waterfront' was really nice.
Also went to Cambrils for an evening - was lovely fishing town with lots of seafood restaurants.
