Port El Kantaoui is a very quiet resort. There are a couple of clubs (not open very often in November) but mainly restaurants and shops at the harbour. Luckily Sousse has everything and a cheap cab away.
Taxi's out there don't drive too crazy like in Egypt or Spain :-)
Sousse has most things even out of season, although the market is very dirty and the local men don't seem to understand women's personal space - I was grabbed in places I tend not to let complete strangers grab me in twice and when I shouted and pushed them away, I was stared at and made to feel like I was wrong for having a go at the guys. It was very scary and not enjoyable.
I have to say, I found the whole experience outside the hotel a bit third world which I wasn't prepared for and am not really suited to. Note to everyone: always carry some toilet paper with you and ask to see the toilet in a restaurant before eating there, the standard tends to be similar to the standard of food!!!
The place is good for buying leather, but it's amazing how the prices drop from 400 - 500 TD to 170 TD when you start to walk away. People here are rude to you if you don't want to pay their prices for things that you probably don't even want. We are always very polite people and found it really difficult to handle a 40 year old man having a tantrum and screwing up a receipt he insisted on writing even though we hadn't agreed we wanted to buy what he offered us. We just wanted to go away and think about spending 200 pounds on a coat we were later offered for just 60 pounds. He was quite agressive in the end and so we left quickly. I also paid GBP30 for a bag I was offered later for GBP4 so they really will rip you off at every possible opportunity. Check out the fixed price shopping centres first before haggling in tourist shops and markets. PS. Nabeul market was clean and we had no trouble there.
You can buy Jack Daniels in the Saloon Bar - wild west theme bar and restaurant, but it's a bit expensive. Live music there and very clean. Staff are friendly. Great place. Huge steaks.
Living - night club - staff are a bit rude and you can't sit down unless you buy whole bottles of spirits which I thought was very london for a third world club with just 10 people in most of the time due to November being out of season!!! Although third world is a bit unfair as the clubs were kitted out really well to be fair. Bananas was a bar-club next door which played quite good music and filled up a bit more. They do like theri RnB out there though!!!

I can only comment on the out of season 'entertainment' but basically everyone at the resort has either halfboard or all inc. That means that the marina area is very quiet during the evening and but for a few shops there is nothing to do.
Quite a few hotels close for the winter and that includes most of the watersport activities (particularly sailing)
That seemed silly as the beaches were well populated and the temp was in late 20's
The resort is clean and well maintained with a golf course virtually in the centre of the resort.
The marina is pleasant with adjacent shops and facilities (ATM etc - remember no cash can be taken out of country & the airport charge 30% to change back!)
Drinks and meals are really cheap even overlooking the marina.
Taxi's are very cheap (although some are very battered) and even cheaper are local minibuses which are the nearest thing to public transport.
A taxi to Sousse was only about £6 and well worth the effort (but get ready to haggle at the markets unless you stick to the fixed price shops)

Brilliant resort, especially the Marina, some lovely retaurants, only thing is the men who work on the stalls (never any women)get a bit annoying after a while and they tend to leer and stare at you!
felt a bit uncomfortable!
Still would go back again!!!

we enjoyed our stay in PEK, we stayed at Imperial Marhaba which is out of the main town. The marina area was lovely for a late lunch and drinks. we enjoyed the square area also for meals and drinks and wandering around the shops. A lovely resort. We visited Sousse for the day and we were glad we were not staying there, PEK definately better, although appreciate that it is purpose built.

The streets are a bit grubby and there seems to be a lot of rubbish everywhere but in the port itself it was very clean. We went into sousse to watch the football in the english bar otherwise stayed mainly around the hotel at night. If you are looking for bars and clubs you will not find them here (this is a muslim country) it is not Magaluf so you will be disappointed. It is mainly restaraunts where you sit have a quiet meal and watch the world go by. The beaches are long and clean with lots of sunbeds and activities.

The resort although purpose built has been done very tastefully always nice and clean plenty of cafe,s and restaurants to choose from not a great deal going on for children and no entertainment in the resort itself

Good resort P.E.K. This Hotel is a bit further out than we would have preferred but no great hassle. Plenty to do on the wonderful beach. The Port itself is a beautiful place and also worth a stroll round at night.

If you want to see “real” Tunisia this is not the place to go, it’s a town built for tourists and could be pretty much anywhere in the Med.
That said, if what you want is a relaxing holiday, plenty of sunshine, a perfect white sandy beach and you aren’t worried about having a huge choice of restaurants and bars to go to in the evening then this is a very pleasant place to stay.
As is to be expected in a place dedicated to tourists, there are plenty of locals trying to get you to come into their shop/their bar/on a trip of their boat but they’re no pushier than in Greece and if you say no they quickly lose interest.
If you want to see somewhere a bit more authentic, then Sousse is only a few miles away – taxis between the two are cheap, but make sure you agree a price up front (it’s worth haggling a bit to get the price down if it sounds too high).
Personally, one afternoon and evening in Sousse was enough for me, but if you want a wider choice of shops, restaurants and evening entertainment than Port El Kantaoui has to offer then you will find it in Sousse.
That said, the evening entertainment in Sousse was pretty lame (although that could be because we were there during Ramadan) we went to a few bars and a nightclub, all of which were fairly empty, and played terrible music.
There was one nice bar in Port El Kantaoui called “Brasserie”, but it emptied out by about 11pm. It seemed like Tunisia in general is not the place to go if you’re after night life.
Also, whatever you do, do not order cocktails in Tunisia! They sound nice on the menu, but when you get them they have orange squash instead of orange juice in, and I had one that tasted of fish!!
All in all, if what you want is a relaxing beach holiday in pleasant surroundings then I would definitely recommend Port El Kantaoui.
