Didn't see much of the surrounding area as the hotel was so good but I do recommend doing the three cities tour if you like a bit of culture. You go to 2 mosques and El Jem which in itself if astounding.
Also go on the camel ride with Fritz who is based in the hotel lobby. That was great fun and the people who take you love the English and get you all the best camels first.
The beach is nice but the sand gets very hot. The sea is a bit sea-weedy too but it still didn't put us off skinny dipping!!!

We were based in Hammam, which is about halfway between Sousse Town and Port El Kantoui. This area is only now being developed for tourism (although building work is on a small scale), so for now this is real Tunisia. It may be a little untidy in places, but nothing to constitute a health hazard.
Most entertainment is usually situated in the local hotels, but for a night out I would recommend O'Conners Irish pub for eating, karaoke, irish or line dancing or just a good night out.
The beach is excellent and each hotel has its own section for its guests with either beach bar or sun loungers and umbrellas (or both). These stretches are patrolled by hotel security to keep the traders and beggars away.
This resort is ideal for anyone who likes to go out and look for excitement but wants peace and quiet as well, it is well situated and contrary to what I had been told it is safe to go out and explore at night. The people are friendly and the country is beautiful. I can't wait to go again.

Walked everyday along the beach from hotel to Sousse.......beautiful beach. Water sports a little too close to shore to make swimming easy.
Everything very clean.
Sousse is not the Canaries.....if you want wild nights go somewhere else.

Sousse: interesting, busy and cosmopolitan. The climate is ideal; hot. Unfortunately ignore the Souk/market traders. Too much hassle.
Ideal location for taking the additional escorted tours through Tunisia. The Sahara tours are a must.
No bars or football, buy your alcohol on the plane on the way there.
Once over the hassle of the beach sellers (do talk to them once at least) the beach is wonderful. Very warm sea and typically flat. Nothing but sand (I wish I was there now).
Regards climate hot hot hot you'll burn and get a lovely tan.
Better for sunshine than Cyprus.

Resort was pretty good.
Older hotels in the area so you would be better staying else where.
Beautiful Beaches and Sea.
Plenty of place to eat and shops.
Town centre a £1.50 Taxi ride away.

can not really comment on the resort but it is very busy.we only visited the tej marhaba shopping centre which is well worth a visit(everything is fixed price,no haggling )the hotel is about 200 m.from the beach which is ok.paragliding costs 30 dinar for 2 people and what we were told is good value.the hotel is situated between pek and sousse(5 min taxi ride costing between 2 and 3 dinar)it is advisable to ask the taxi driver to swich on the meter or they will charge what they like.
