Have to try Tommy's bar (2 minutes over the road) - fantastic food and service - Also Meryhem (a 10 minute walk towards square) is absolutely the best if you like local cuisine - try the mixed meze starter - WoW!

Plenty of lovely restaurants close by, and depending if you like Boom Boom bars or places for a chill drink, everything is on your doorstep, but doesn't interfere with your sleep.

Icmeler is a nice quiet place, with a good beach about a quarter mile long. There are taxi boats to Marmaris for 7.5 YTL=£3, a Dolmus 1.5YTL=64p, Taxi’s at 15YTL=£6.30p or you can walk as we did, the 5 mile around the beach in under 2 hrs.
Note that the Bazaars and shops are at the FAR end of Marmaris, just before the Marina and Bar Street! Icmeler market is on a Wednesday and is signposted from the beach and canal-about a 10 min walk to the back and RHS of Icmeler.
Marmaris Indoor market is Thursdays and was packed! Dining out has increased in price over 3 years (a 3 course meal was £.3.50, now £7-£8) we always haggle for a free bottle of wine, garlic bread etc-the Prince Apartments also gave us 10% off everything!
Opposite the apartments was the Majestic restaurant, this served good value meals and THE BEST english breakfast for £2 inc tea/coffee (others charge £1-but a tea/coffee was an extra £1 and some were rubbish!) there is a Chinese rest.
At the back of resort offering ‘eat all you can’ for £8=20YTL and a free bottle of wine! Turn right up the canal and the ‘Florida rest.’ offered a good meal-try the PLANK steak; steak, veg, rice, etc + any sauce (pepper , Diane…) and mashed potatoes piped around the edge-served on a wooden board.
As others have said the Boat trips are cheap –all inclusive all day trip + drinks ,breakfast and lunch onboard for £10. 5 stops for swimming/snorkelling and a stop at Turinc village.
We booked ours at Marmaris with Memories travel –on the seafront, near the statue of ‘Atatack’. They will pick up in Icmeler. The water is very calm……….!!!! so no seasickness.
If you walk up the canal, away from the sea, and keep going, when you get to a ‘t’ junction turn right-TANSAS supermarket is here-much more choice and cheaper. The Dolmus stop is also here, but a ‘TIP’ going to Marmaris especially on market day, dolmus’s are full.
So go to beach, turn right and walk all the way to the end, you will see the Dolmus terminal. THIS is the only way you will get on and get a seat !!!
This is probably the last review of Turkey as they close at the end of October. The weather was in the low 70’s by day and 50-60 at night-and you may need more than a jumper !!!-but no rain.
The shops around the canal all sell silver jewelry at good prices, we bought 3 Zirconium rings at £18 ea. All the local PR men outside the restaurants were friendly and great fun…Don’t worry about any hassle! PS use your credit card –we got 2.40/£ and they all take £ notes (items are marked in Pounds/Euro’s and Lira.
To finish, turkey is more expensive now-and will be more so if they join the EU, but its still a great holiday destination and the mountain views across the bay rival Austria. Happy Holidays…….Peter.

The resort was very clean and very attractive. I really liked it. I visited Icmeler in October the last week of the season so it was fairly quiet, I really liked this as I was looking for a relaxing time of sun and food and lots of walking. I got it all in great quantities. Because Icmeler is a small resort you can really get the feel of having seen it all.
There are a great many very high quality restaurants in Icmeler, the food was amazingly good and the staff in the restaurants very friendly and professional.
The beach wasn't the best I have visited in regards to sand but the views were spectacular.
I wasn't interested in resort entertainment (for this week anyway, but will be in July 06 when I return) There was a great deal to do in and around the resort if you wished to do so.
This was my first visit to Turkey and I am extremely pleased I decided to go there, Icmeler in particular. I shall be returning to Icmeler in July 06, where I think it will be a tad more lively than it was in October.
Icmeler (the old village especially) is the loveliest holiday resort I have visited.

Although we travelled in October, we still found the weather really hot, but it did go alot cooler at night. The entertainment was quiter that usual as it was only a week to the close of season. we visited a fab bar called the Geordie Bar. The owner Christine from newcastle has been their 17 years Great food. Karaoke till midnight.

Lots of great restaurants with friendly staff that make you very welcome. Beach great, plenty of activities on offer at a good price. Plenty of shops without being too busy, altogether a lovely resort, will definitely visit again.

Admittedly it was the end of the season but the resort itself was dirty, ie. streets needed sweeping.
The resort entertainment was terrible unless you wanted to listen to loud disco music everywhere you went.
The beach was disgusting. They provide terracotta waste bins for rubbish and cigarette ends but no one seems to use them.

Fantastic resort for all!!
Locals are very friendly and there's a huge choice of bars/eateries/boat trips. Music gets turned off at midnight so you can be sure of a good night's sleep. Only one nightclub (that's open til 04.00), so if you want something livelier, it may be best to go down the road to Marmaris.
Beach is spotless, though more dirt/grit than sand with plenty of sunbeds and watersports. What can we say ...... went 3 times last year and planning same this year!! We have a 10 year old and 3 teenage girls and Icmeler offers something for all of us.

First visit to Turkey so didn't know what to expect. We found in very quite in Icmeler in October, with some bars and hotels already closed for the winter. It seemed to lack atmosphere but I should think it would be completley different in the summer. Would maybe go back to resort but at a different time of year. Some nights we were only people in bars.
Beach was OK, good scenery but not great sand.
Personally found the people very over bearing, trying to get you into bars, wouldn't take no for an answer.
Would maybe go back to Turkey, but not in a great rush.

As a frequent visitior to icmeler i find the beach always to be a pleasant place to lie for the day, especially round at the harmony bar / deniz kapasi - free beach.
As a family resort i fing the entertainment to be great - caters for all ages. The canal and surrounding areas are great. And not to forget little MJ !!!!
