Have to try Tommy's bar (2 minutes over the road) - fantastic food and service - Also Meryhem (a 10 minute walk towards square) is absolutely the best if you like local cuisine - try the mixed meze starter - WoW!

Plenty of lovely restaurants close by, and depending if you like Boom Boom bars or places for a chill drink, everything is on your doorstep, but doesn't interfere with your sleep.

Beaches

Icmeler was the cleanest place I have ever stayed in. The refuse collectors came twice a day compared to the once or twice a week in England. For a good breakfast, I would recommend the Titanic bar. For a lunch or evening meal, go to Savas's Cafe Anne on the seafront. The beach was brilliant. I would recommend the Blue Rainbow beach run by Oz Man. The sea is good for families and the sunbeds are only £1 for a day. I would definitely recommend Icmeler.

We loved our stay here as it is a very pretty resort and smaller than Marmaris which we disliked. We thought we would try a different part of Turkey as we last went to Kusadasi 10 years ago. The resort caters for the British taste but I would have liked to see a bit more of traditional Turkey as this resort seems to be purpose built with bars restaurants and shops all competing for trade until it shuts down end of October.
Please be polite and patient with them as they work very long hours on commission only plus tips. At the end of the season they have to leave to try to find work elsewhere.
We tried a couple of restaurants but by far the best was The Welcome opposite the Babadan appartments. If you go here tell Ghengis, Bilal and Teddy the Swansea family say "hello and send love to Tweety".
The beach looks pretty from a boat but we thought it was awful. It was more like dirty grit full of cigarette ends and thousands of sunbeds packed too close together. We only went there to do the watersports or catch the boat.
The trips are great but we recommend booking with a local tour operator as the prices are half the cost of Thompson.
We went on a lazy day boat trip, Turkish night, Dalyan and jeep safari and had no problems.(jeep safari is a must)
Don't book a trip to a Turkish bath, just walk to the middle of the village and go down the steps by the Kingsland Chinese resaurant and the Turkish bath here is brilliant. I was a bit nervous about going in with my teenage daughter as they are all men but they are very professional and respectful.
We noticed a big difference in the prices of food and gifts as there is very little haggling to be done now and even the markets are not that interested.

Although we intially was upset at how far out we were from the pubs, clubs and restaurants we were happy to find out that the Dolmus or taxis are very cheap and take you right into Icemeler.
There are three pubs right near to the hotel, Tommys, Stonehouse (gorgeous sunday lunch!!) and Petunia, we had a few good meals at Tommys and Stonehouse and quite a few late nights at Petunia with Ali and his mates getting you up to dance on the tables.
When in Icemeler the best pubs/restaurants are Pop-In then turning right from there are two nice Chinese restaurants if you follow the canal around there is all the night life with The Waterfall, Oscars (with Sky Sports) and our very favourite the Wonderboys. This although have very gorgeous men dancers is not at all threatening for men or children. Leo, Tariq, Jay-Jay, Kevin etc spend their time making sure you all have a great night. Even playing pool with the children on the free pool table.
Once you overcome the hassling of bars/restaurants/shops trying to get you to spend your money there and them telling you that they love you Icmeler is a
fantastic place to holiday and we are already trying to re-book to go back there very soon.

Good entertainment, has got a bit more expensive, but still good value.

Icmeler was superb for everything. All the bar entertainment stops at about midnight but you can carry on drinking.
There are a couple of clubs, try Eastenders Foam Party Club.
Be aware if you go to Marmaris and you intend to change money in the Change Bureau's.Make sure they count it out slowly ON TOP OF THE COUNTER not on the BOTTOM COUNTER as you will find you will find you'll be 20 Lira lighter when you come out of the Bureau to count it.
Double check at the counter.Or better still use the supermarkets and restaurants in Icmeler

Streets cleaned every day, even the mosquitoes are blasted through the night , so no mossies.
Plenty of restraunts and bars and reasonable prices. Beach is gritty but clean and plenty of loungers . This resort is the best I have been to anywhere, because the people are so friendly, and it still holds some of its Turkish character, especially in the old town.
I would recommend this resort to anyone. This is certainly a jewel in Turkeys crown.

Luckily we knew about the free beach oustide harmony bar, waiter service on beach, drinks a little more expensive but service from Adjan and the boys was excellent lots of laughs too.
Not too keen on the noisier parts of Icemler, i.e. three bells area. Highlight of our morning was meeting Crazy Billy (an old friend of ours from our 3 years spending in Icmeler) outside the Munamar Hotel (Joy)where he arranges boat trips, if you want a good, inexpensive day out on the water find Crazy Billy - a good time guaranteed.
For nice quiet meal visit the Dosta in the Old Village near the Efem Apartments, they also serve the cheapest and best breakfast in the resort.
We recommend the Chateaubreiand at the Mimosa at the the top the Canal, next to the International, the steak was the best we had on holiday, service brilliant and no hassle at all.

Great location, no matter where you are staying. The Beach is kept well maintained and the Bars and Restaurants are of a good to excellent quality especially down by the canal.
As a family it is nice to know all the Music in the Bars stops at 12.00 midnight which is fair enough although you can find later Music in certain Clubs if you want to

Restaurant owners dont let you walk down the road in peace and the market traders leap on you and took the bag my young son was carrying to see what he'd bought and how much he'd paid.
Kids loved the market though as very cheap things to be bought.
Resort noise was very good as everything shut down prompt as 12.30am near to the hotel.

Icmeler itself is a nice place to holiday , Its clean and there are lovely places to eat , you could eat somewhere different everynight and we never had a bad meal. There is something for everyone whether you want a nice quiet meal and drink or if you want lots of loud music and entertainment.Once you get past the hassle in shops and when choosing restaurants you can enjoy yourself.I wouldn`t come here just to enjoy the beach because it is shingle and rocks and when swimming in the sea you are not sure what you will put your feet on, my children only went once and didn`t enjoy it.I would visit again without a doubt.
