If you know Turkey you expect bad roads and a fair bit of rubbish about.Where it matters, Turkey is immaculate.
All resorts have everything you could need for entertainment.
The beach in Olu is lovely,if a little pebbly in areas, and the lagoon is stunning, but divided into small areas of sand.
Calis beach is pebbly and not the best, but a nice little resort and a lot cheaper than Olu area.

I have to point out that the beach is a 10 minute drive by dolmus although this did not affect our holiday one bit.
Ovacik is a lot more sedate than the nearby resort of Hisaronu but we liked the differences offered by both. Good after a late night to come back and not be disturbed by larger louts

We didn't really use the resort of Ovacik itself, only once or twice when we needed to buy something from the shops. We tended to go into Olu Deniz and Fethiye (20 mins taxi ride away).
We have been to Turkey many times and to this area once before, and although the place had grown enormously since our last visit 16 years ago it still retained its 'Turkishness' and the people were just as friendly.
The beach at Olu Deniz is lovely, and its great to watch the people coming in to land who have para-glided from the top of the mountain!
The hotel mini bus takes you to a private beach on the lagoon, but we prefer the main beach where the waves crash onto the beach rather than the still water of the lagoon. The kids did enjoy the pedalo ride in the lagoon though.
If you go to the main beach invest in a pair of beach/water shoes because the pebbles near the waters edge murder your feet!
The little town of Olu Deniz is lovely, a bit hippyish and bohemian which I love with plenty of places to eat and drink and lots of little shops and stalls.
We will definitely visit Olu Deniz again.

OOu Deniz was fantastic for watersports and just lazing by the beach. Hisaronu was great for eating out and plenty of bars for all types of people from late nights to quiet drinks. Shops were also handy for little souvenirs. Fethiye was great for market and the harbour was super where we took 12 island cruise.

Staying in Ovacik was ideal as you were at a central point to all other resorts. There was a few restaurants and shops along the main road. The small buses (dolmush)ran frequently, linking you with Hisaronu, Olu Deniz and Fethiye. This time we hired a jeep for two days, which was an exhilarating experince, especially along the mountain roads. The views were breath-taking, it was an ideal oppurtunity to get out and about on your own, instead of doing the usual excursions! Next time we will hire a jeep for the whole week!

Hisaronu and Olu deniz offer a good range of facilities for all travellers whether you are a beach bum or a high adrenaline junkie. Olu Deniz has good beaches although the beach is small pebbles rather than sand. Beaches at nearby Gemiler Island offer a quieter alternative as does the beach next to the Lykia World resort just round the bay from Olu Deniz. Great range of eating houses in both Hisaronou and Olu Deniz to suit all tastes i.e. Indian, Chinese, Turkish, Briish and Italian on offer. Both resorts are lively and you can feel a bit hassled by some of the restaurant touts. Both resorts are very commercial with little ecidence of how they would have been before tourism. Would recommend car hire as this gives you the opportunity and freedom to explore a little further. Would also recommend the area between Hisaronou and Gemiler island which also incudes the ghost village of Kaya, some lovelly forest areas and a couple of really good beaches for those who prefer peace an quiet.

The beach area was very clean but too far from our hotel, Hisaronu town was small and friendly, lots of places to eat and drink and loads of shops but again too far from our hotel.

Not even a beach in Ovacik unless you want to catch bus.
