Thanks for the info, has anyone got any experience of the water taxi, how long it takes to get in to fetiyhe.
also anyone got any tips for somewhere to eat in fetiyhe.
thanks
the water taxi does get full quickly and if its full leaves early, so you need to get there early, cant remember exactly how long it took about 15-20 mins i guess. we didnt eat out in fethiye, but if you like perfume there is a great little shop that blends all makes of perfume for you at really good prices and they told me its from the original oils etc used in france, we bought some and it was lovely, you tell them the brand and name of the perfume you want and they let you smell their sample
I agree with Ellie_meg, I think the boat took around 15-20 mins. There are a lot of bars and restaurants around the harbour, we didn't eat out either ( the food at Letoonia, was lovely and plentiful, so didn't feel the need.....)
Like Ellie_meg says the boat leaves when full so you need to be there early and also some nationalities don't believe in queing like us Brits. If you missed the last boat (around 7.30pm if I remember correctly) you would need to get a taxi back as the dolmus doesn't go to Letoonia. The taxi's weren't expensive, but agree a price first.
The Letoonia is an excellent hotel/resort, you will have a great time!!

I s the beer Efes or do the have other choice also how good is the wine, and do they have self service pumps for the beer and wine.
I'm sure the beer is Effes, maybe someone else can confirm?
I don't drink wine myself, but the friend that we went with does, she didn't like a couple of the first ones she had, but once she found the one she liked, she took a note of the name and asked for that one, if they didn't have it at the bar we were at, they went and got her one from somewhere else - no problem.

Has anyone been to this hotel at the end of october and is everything open in town and what is the weather likely to be like.
we have been mid oct and everything in town was open but not everything in the hotel complex was, which was a shame as we loved letoonia but most of the restaurants including the ones with view were all closed down, the nightclub was closed although that didnt bother us.
the weather whilst we were there was good for about 4-5 days and the rest pouring rain and tropical storm, it does get chilly at night and a jacket or cardy is needed.
hope this helps

We have a price for the Club Letoonia next September. Hotel Rooms are £180pppw more than Bungalow rooms. I was wondering if anyone knew what the difference would be staying in either. I expect the bungalows are located away from the main complex, but that sounds an advantage to me?
Any help would be appreciated.

we stayed in the hotel and were pleased we had as some of the bungalows have around 100 steps or more to get to them and i couldnt have coped with that with a young child in tow. the bungalows are dotted around the complex so you could be anywhere high up or quite a walk from the reception, but might be nearer the beach or 1 of the other restaurants etc as the complex does stretch out across the peninsular , not sure if the standard of bungalows is worse than the hotel or not as we didnt go inside 1 of them. the hotel room we had was very roomy and had sea views, wasnt 5* which is typical of turkey more 3-4 but we enjoyed our holiday at letoonia, lovely complex and would recommend it. hope this helps

As Ellie-meg says the bungalows can be a long way from the amenities. Ours was up several steps (at least 100) and ours was by no means the highest! The trouble is that the steps are not even, and not very well lit, so it can be a little dangerous, especially at night. The views are excellent though!
The bungalow rooms are in need of updating, but they are spotlessly clean and are roomy. I had heard that the hotel itself was being demolished and being rebuilt, as it does not meet health and safety standards (UK), and I have noticed that British travel companies do not place customers in the hotel, - only the bungalows.
The resort itself is definitley 5* though, the food is excellent, as are the drinks. Plenty to do and free watersports. Hope this helps.

We stayed in one of the bungalows and I wouldn't recommend it! The steps and the walking didn't bother us at all but the standard of the bungalow was very shabby indeed, no balcony, paper thin walls (I had to complain about the noise from a neighbouring bungalow) and I found at least 3 large beetles during the week we stayed. The shower was useless and it was very difficult to control the temperature. We had twin beds and when we requested a double they said there were only 15 in total - unbelievable! The rooms in the hotel looked of a more acceptable standard for this class of hotel and I agree you always have to knock a star or 2 off in Turkey. The food was good but that wouldn't tempt me to return.
Interesting to learn that the hotel building isn't up to standard, any idea what the problem is?

Lara, I heard it was because it is a wooden construction? I think if you book DIY you can get a hotel room, but not if you go through a UK travel agent. Don't know how true it is though.!!
Sorry you didn't enjoy your stay there. I agree the bungalows are shabby, but ours was spotlessly clean. Really enjoyed the resort though and I would return.

Thanks Denny, we booked independently and did get the option to book a hotel room, and yes a lot of wood in the construction. This was our first time abroad without kids and we wanted something a bit special, good for families though.

We've been to Letoonia three times now and we've always stayed in an upstairs room in a bungalow. The hotel complex is away from the main pool area and entertainment, although there is a hotel at the pool. We always book an upstairs room in a bungalow (sounds daft I know!), but we do that as the rooms are bigger, also they have a nice large balcony (see our pics in the pics section). If I went again I would book the same type of room again. As for double beds, the three rooms we have stayed in have all had kingsize beds, if not bigger!.
The only way I would stay in the hotel is if I had a problem with steps (as per all other posts). I normally book then email the hotel and request the type of room I want a few weeks before I go and everytime they have given me what i wanted.
