Thanks for the lists! Yes, I know every airline has its ups and downs with regards to being on time. I travel enough (3 times a year) on long haul holidays to know this. I wouldn't have gone with First Choice again if I didn't realise this. However, as many know, for some reasons, some flights tend to leave late week after week.

Not bothered! 1 more week and Jamaica here I come!

Found this this thread 'by mistake' and its fantastic !.
Flying to Varadero on Wednesday from Gatwick, FCA082. A little concerned about the seat allocation as I am always a little nervous and don't like the idea of maybe not sitting with my husband. We booked Premium Star Class with First choice.
Any info on the aircraft etc.
Thanks in advance.

lorrie50,

Have a look over the pages of this thread. There's loads of information about the aircraft (Boeing 767-300/ER). Any particular questions you have, fire away.

Just like to thank the drunk women who delayed our flight to Hurghada on July 4th from LGW for 45 mins whilst arguing over getting drink before take off. Why do people in this state even get past the desk to hand in their boarding card? As for flight home on the 18th, most cramped and uncomfortable plane I have EVER been on. Booked long haul for next year just to make sure I dont have the same comfort issues again! Time to sort out your short haul now Thom/FC!

Flew on the same aircraft (G-OOOX) back from Cape Verde 4 days before and can only agree with you. Did you notice the tissue stuffed into the air conditioning vents to prevent them from leaking?

Gail,

Your flights are operated by Thomsonfly rather than First Choice. They've merged so it doesn't make a lot of difference. I don't have the winter aircraft schedule as yet, but I'd guess MAN-ACE-MAN (TOM2411/2) are operated by a Boeing 757-204. They're configured 3-3 with 28" seat pitch. I should have the schedule by the end of August if you wanted to remind me to double check.

Hi Dazbo

I'm going with FC on 1st Sept from Bristol to Ibiza and back on the following Monday 8th, any ideas what I am flying on, guessing it is going to be an A320 or something?

Cheers
Gary

PS. How did you enjoy the dakota flight? Did mine in June, amazing experience, couldnt fly too long in it though, very noisy and quite bumpy, but lots of fun.

garyholc,

BRS-IBZ-BRS (FCA7102/3) is operated by a Boeing 757-200.

The Dak was great. We very nearly didn't get a ride because one of the pilots due to fly us was ill. I got a call the day before to say all operations were cancelled. About an hour later, they called back to say they've found a relief pilot so it was back on! I posted a few photos: Dakota Fairwell Tour 2008, Blackpool; flying 1940's style. I prefered the Dragon Rapide, that's a lovely little aircraft. The Dak needs bigger windows!

A question on hold luggage!! We have used First Choice for the last few years and have always pooled our luggage allowance, although rarely is one case over the individual limit. However this year, to make it easier for both the children and loading the car, I have bought the kids roller holdalls. I suspect that our cases will therefore end up perhaps slightly over the limit or we will have 5 bags to check in for 4 of us. Will First Choice allow this now they are part of Thomsons, who I believe don't allow pooling of the luggage allowances?

Thanks for any help, would rather know in advance and if need be we will have to go back to 4 cases.

keepupwith,

Even though FCA and TOM have merged, you are still travelling with FCA so their policy is applicable. FCA's baggage policy is on their website. Your allowance, unless on a Skytours or saver holiday is 20 kg (15kg if on the other). The maximum permissable weight of any suitcase is 23kg. Anything over that will be refused travel and you are likely to incur excess charges if you exceed the limits of your party. If you are taking 4 cases, you aren't really pooling your allowance. I think you are limited to one piece of checked luggage per person.

Thanks Darren, that does help. Can't see anything on the website that stipulates just one piece of luggage each so I may give them a call. I usually view our luggage allowance as a whole, so for example this trip we could have 2 cases at say 20 and 18kg, 2 roller holdalls for the kids at 15kg each plus a normal holdall at 10kg, which would be within our total limit, however that would be 5 pieces of luggage between us, which is what we have had in the past. I know things are continually being reviewed though and I don't want to get caught out!!

Thanks again

keepupwith,

Unless they've changed the policy, it's one piece of checked luggage each. The last time I flew with them (before the 23kg rule came in to force) I enquired as I was taking diving equipment with me and had an increased allowance of 30kg (20kg + 10kg divers allowance). I only needed about 25kg but I was travelling the month before the 23kg rule was brought in so like you, didn't want to get caught out. I asked about taking two cases and was told passengers are only permitted to check-in one each. It's certainly worth giving them a call to check though in case they've relaxed the rule. My last long haul was with Bmi who allow 2 pieces of 23kg each (46kg allowance!), even taking all my diving gear was nowhere near the limit (took 33kg :tup ).

We are travelling from Gatwick to Cozumel on the 27th September 08 and are booked in the premier seats. They advise us that we can check in at 08.30am and our plane departs at 10.30am. Is it available for us to check in around 7 - 7.30am as this is the time we will only be able to be dropped at the airport! Will the seperate check in be open this early?

Thank you
