It doesn"t specify a time on the website now, so would have thought you would be okay.
You need to pre book at Manchester so you would need to phone them, the number is on the website under "at the airport".
cazB, Dazbo5,
Thank you for your replies. I have received my tickets and the book which they came in does state that this service is only for flights departing before 9.am. However I have spoken to a rep' on the F.C. desk at M/cr airport who informed us just to turn up with our luggage the day before. I just don't trust anything that they say or print!

Does anyone know when FC changed their Premium Longhaul Service Baggage Allowance from 30kg to 23kg?
I need to check when I get home but I am absolutely positive that when I booked in January the allowance was 30kg, and that the online manage your booking showed 30kg. It now shows 23kg?

Miccie, you are correct. The FC baggage allowance for Premier used to be 30Kg. However, it changed earlier this year and the maximum baggage they will handle is 23Kg, whether you are travelling Premier or not. Current brochures and the FC website also state that no baggage over 23Kg will be accepted.
We have a booking for October and it clearly states on my confirmation that the allowance is 30Kg but I read on here that this had changed to 23Kg. I wondered whether this was only for new bookings and phoned the airline but they say when my tickets arrive they will show 23Kg.

Hi Cazzholly,
I knew I wasn't going mad! The lady I spoke with at FC this morning told me that this allowance had changed in 2006!, which I said could not have been the case as I was positive that at the time of booking it stated 30kg, but she was adament that I was incorrect, even though I pointed out that I would not have just pulled the figure out of thin air.
I think I read on this website somewhere else that if you have a booking confirmation which states 30kg then this has to be honoured? I wonder how we do actually stand, after all the service was offered with a 30kg baggage allowance and this is what was purchased in the upgrade.
I would appreciate anyones further input on this.

It did change in 2006. I think it was December 2006. I had booked for an August 2007 holiday in August 2006 and I got the 30 kg at that time because I had book pre Dec. 2006. I booked in Oct. 2007 for August 2008 and it was definitely down to 23 kg. So, I don't think there was any way you could have booked under the old 30 kg.
Both times it was with the upgraded Premium Class.

I have a confirmation invoice for my October 08 holiday which clearly states 30Kg. I certainly didn't book it in 2006!
hi im travelling to tenerife sth on 17 oct flying with first choice at 19.50 hrs from manchester and returning a week later arriving at 05.30.what type of plane will i be flying on.thank you
thanks darren for your quick replies, regarding the question i asked you regarding flights to florida ,when we initially booked our holiday with first choice we were booked on fca outward and thomson on return but looking on their website its now down to both thomson flights,do you know why this is and in your opinion which airline do you think gives the best service for comfort food etc
Aircraft wise FCA planes are more comfy but I suspect it is just a result of the merger- all First Choice flights will change over from FCA prefix to TOM prefix- it is more likely going to just be the prefix change rather than aircraft change.
Service wise they are very similar in both economy and premium. with the only major difference's being china rather than plastic dishware-in premier/premium.

Just checked my paperwork. When I booked the holiday in November 2007 the baggage allowance was confirmed as 25kg that was just for the star class cabin. In January 2008 I upgraded our flights to the premium cabin and I have written confirmation that the baggage allowance is 30kg. This is a longhaul flight. Part of the sales pitch for the reasoning behind £219 per person was that you got 30kg each.
As it stands now they are proposing that our baggage allowance is less than that booked in November 2007! I think they must have to honour the service as sold.

I also have printed out conformation that the Premium Class flight which I booked in February states 30kg. They must think we are daft as FC are adamant it did not say that, I am going to send them a copy don't know what good that will do
Well I intend to speak with them tomorrow, no it probably won't do any good at all. Would help if we had a brochure which also stated it
KJF,
As BY-TOM-AMM-FCA says, there's little difference in terms of service levels although I prefer the FCA aircraft because they have more elbow room, ie 2-3-2 configuration throughout to TOM's 2-4-2 in economy. There's not much in it though.

Just returned from Varadero. Was in Star class premier and the baggage allowance was 23kgs, Clearly stated on our tickets. We booked our holiday in 2007.
I went to dom rep last year with FC SCP and luggage allowance was 23kgs and we booked that in Feb 2007. I booked our holiday to mexico also flying SCP next month in October 2007 and it again states 23kgs.

m&n tried your link but it didn't work for some reason
what a shame, perhaps you could try to pm it to me?
I have just got off the phone from FC, most dissatisfied with them, apart from them almost accusing me of lying to them, although I have paperwork to back up my claim - they wanted to know where I had managed to get the paperwork from! I have to send it all to their Customer Service Department and it will go into a pool and god knows who will attend to it! Really don't expect to get anywhere with this but I really am most annoyed about the whole thing and think there should be some follow through with it
