Me and Hubby along with 2 children didn't have to pay for any of our jabs and we had to have them all!
Maybe worth checking up why they asked you to pay.
stefk says you don't have to pay, i didn't, and they didn't ask me to pay, you should get a refund, that's a valuable £12 that you could be spending in turkey
I have read most got there jags free is this the case anymore? live in scotland
Even if it does cost , you cant put a price on health as we have a friend who came back from holiday in Turkey with Hep A . a few years a go.
Yes this is right
I finally had my jabs yesterday
I had three but only paid for one as they had some in stock in the fridge at the surgery
Must admit though I was a bit worried that they would find a big needle for me !! after all I did drop the surgery in it by ringing my local health authority
But I don't feel that guilty after all thats what we pay national ins for
good luck to you all and hope you all have a good holiday
we've all had our jabs and didnt cost us a penny see you all june17th ...........Mark Donna Laura and Zak
The nurse told us that typhoid is only required if staying long term and/or backpacking and staying in rural areas or accommodation - normal tourist areas and hotels are fine.
She did say that if we had been going to Side/extreme east/north-east area of Turkey we would need malaria as well.
It also gave a brief note on terrorism robbery, assaults, the earthquake 6th June and loads of other stuff that has happened last year.
My daughter wish she'd never seen it as shes now worried that somethings going to happen.
i feel ripped off by my doctor and nurse now!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sue
not going to the Tropical untill oct but can anyone tell me what jabs my family and i need?
thanks for your help
thecruickshanksgang
do u have to pay for them aswell???
my doctors receptionist never said anything to me when i picked up forms to fill out for all of us .
thanks again
My family all had our jabs on Monday!
We had tetanus/diptheria in one and typhoid/hepatitis in the other. they didnt hurt at the time but they do make your arm ache for a couple of days after!
Think its worth it for peace of mind especially where kids are concerned!!
and yes they are free!!!
can put you all at rest now, been to have jabs today me and 2 kids we all had 2 jabs each one in each arm tyhpoid and hepaptis kids did not need tetnus as they are still covered from school ones. i did not have to have one as nurse said you only need to have 5 in your lifetime so i did not bother she also stated that if anything happened on holiday they would more than likely give you one did not have to pay for ANY OF THEM one of the injection hurt slightly more than others but had to deal with daughter who freaked regardless even thou i got some of the numbing gel from doctor. This was the best bit thou the nurse who gave us the jabs went to turkey last year and guess what.......... didnt bother with any of the jabs, makes you wonder if we really needed to bother, have got 1 achey arm at moment but feel better anyway for having them done, so the bottom line is i think it is entirely your choice whether you do or dont bother now what do you all think

ps by the way got my mossie wrist bands from superdrug £2.99 a pack of 2
went to doctors yesterday for something else and was told again that they didn't recommend any
Myself, hubby and two kids, had one in each arm, only small p***k, sore arm to touch for a couple of days, but mine wasn't achey. Kids obviously screamed the docs down, the oldest who's 9 screamed before the nurse was anywhere near her. Hence the waiting room cleared outside!!!!
I know I'm going to a 4* hotel but if you happen to venture out, and you do pick anything up, I'd never forgive myself for my kids sake.
So I think it s worth a couple of screams. Also if you go back between 8-12months of having the injections, you can get a booster for Hepatitis A which then will cover you for 10 years.
The typhoid covers for 3 years, so will have to go for a bootster probably after 2 years.
Can anyone tell me what jabs my family needs to go to Serigarme neat Dalaman. I do not wqant to make my children have injections if they do not really need them
i think the best thing is to check with your dr - some doctors say no some say yes
did you not read my thing about jabs (teddy just before yours) but anyway you do not HAVE to have any injections if you dont want them but i opted to have them as they are only a recommendation so its entirely your choice, me and the kids had 1 injection in each arm hep a and typhoid i did not have a tetnus nor did my kids if your kids are 5 and over they will be covered by their pre school jabs for that, which will last 10 years or so. I did not have to pay anything for mine as the nurse had them in her room as some people have had to pay for the prescription but as far as i am aware they should be free regardless.
so the choice is yours as to if you have them or not, the nurse who gave me mine went to turkey last year and didnt even bother with any of them so it just goes to show.
