Never been to Kos before. Anyone recommend a resort for 50 somethings. Like the beach and wining and dining, want a bit of nightlife but not to much, any suggestions please. Also anyone recommend a place to stay. Thanks

Hi Sneezy, Go and have a look at my post of May 27th, 2007. The Hotel would be perfect for you, read the Review I posted in the Hotel section. We, too, are 50 somethings !!

I would be inclined to take enough evro for the first day/evening and sterling cash to change on the second day [it will give you the chance to look for the best in-resort rate

what sort of rates are the euro there are they better than uk?

If you shop around you will find someone giving the same as the international rate but no charges for changing it. It works out at quite a few beer tokens over a 2 week holiday.

Lisa - Yes stayed at Albatross a few years back - it is a smashing place lovely pool and a great location right across the little road from the harbour. The view at sunrise from the apartments is breathtaking. Now managed by an english guy. You should have no problems at all - if you need any further adv re Kefalos ask away or PM me as we have been going now since 1994

We are a party of 30 mixed age adults 18 to 63 visiting kardemena for our yearly holiday get together next week. We are staying at Plousia appartments. Can someone advise what pool the apartments use and any good lively bars for the 'older' revellers? I also need the number of a boat owner that will consider a private charter for our party. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, sorry I can't comment on your appartments or be of help with regards a boat but I just wanted to say I'm sure you'll all have a great time in Kardamena. We had a family holiday there about 3 years ago. There were 11 of us ranging in age between 1 yr and 69 and every one of us had a marvellous holiday. There won't be a shortage of bars for you all to enjoy. There was also a little road train running round the resort. A few of us used to enjoy fishing off the harbour using a piece of string with bait :D
Have a great time.

Was a bit worried we may be a bit old for the resort. if we are we can just sit on the land train all week !

Would anybody please be able to tell me what are the meals are like in Tingaki, are they rushed? I have been to a few greek resorts and i find that some of them we felt a bit rush with our meal as they try to get as many people in and out as possible. We like to make a night out of our meal and take our time, but in Zante although the food was fantastic it was a bit rushed as soon as we ordered our food the starter was out within 2mins and when that was taken away our main came out right away not giving us enought time to relax, but when we went to Crete it took a good three hours for us to have a starter main and sometime a sweet, and we took our time and relaxed over some wine. So could anyone tell me what i can expect in Tingaki. Im pregnant this year so im not drinking so our evening meal is quite an imprortant part of our evening.

try getting away from the resort area [if its trad Greek food you want] find places full of locals, its totally different experience to conveyor system in resort restaurants

Jubbie we have been staying in tingaki for 10 years and love it, we have found that the best restraunts to eat in are vassilis on the main street, katras on the beach front to the left of the fountain, ikarus about a 10 min walk along the beach road.We have spent many evenings in all of these tavernas and have never felt rushed at all.
