The visa agent in Bolton is on the Birmingham High commision web site.
It costs £30+£10 handling charge per visa.

Thanks a lot :)
thats handy, its just up the road from where i work.

So it costs £40 per visa? We usually pay around £62 for two visa's, so there isnt really much difference in price is there.

I received my visas back from Puja travel today, they received them on the 31st of August so it has taken, 13 days, the visas were stamped on 3rd of september, so it has taken ten days to send back to me.

Not bad though.

I am ready to goooooooooooooooooooo

I sent my visa applications off to Puja Travel on the 5th and they arrived today (8 days) which is quicker than I thought it would be.

One less thing to worry about now.

Hi everyone
Just clicked on today and am a little bit confused re visas. We are going to Goa in mid November and obviously have to get visas. As we live in the far south west (Cornwall), we do not have a Clinic anywhere near us. I was going to apply to the Indian High Commission in London by post. Am I being stupid, can we not do that now??!!

have a look at this thread and the other sticky we have on visas for info - but the short answer is, no you can't apply by post anymore. The first post of this thread gives the link to the recommended TAs who will process your visas.

Afraid not, you need to use an authorised travel agency to get them for you or visit the HCI in London which I`m sure isn`t really an option for you :( check your local larger travel agent who should be able to help out.

Just to say sent 4 Visa's applications off to Puja Travel got them back today took 13 days, all we have to do now is get Jabs OUCH!!!!!!!
Never been to Goa before now looking forward to it.
Only concern the visa's duration is Sep to Mar, not our travel date which is Dec what if I like it so much I wanted to go back in April, is this common practise?

You will need another visa if you want to return in April as your present visa runs out in March :!: Visas last for six months from date of issue and for multiple entries within that period

"They take all the applications to Birmingham on Thursdays and then pick them up the following Thursday"

Hughsey,
I take it by your post above that this means that a visa applicants passport would be travelling up and down the motorway in the boot of someones car, and I take it if they required an emergency toilet relief, then the passports would be lying on the tarmac at a service station in between Bolton and Birmingham.

Well it would not be my passport......

I think this whole episode is becoming more farcical by the day and someone in the HCI needs to wake up or it will not only cost peoples jobs but also there lives, people who rely on the tourist trade to provide there families with food and shelter during the holiday & monsoon season, these people will not be able to make a living if this visa nonsense carries on, and this will also have an impact not only in Goa but all over India, people will be put off at the nonsense in trying to obtain a visitors visa.......
Anyone else got any views on this farce..........

PS it looks like the Far East for me next year......jxk8

Have posted similar opinions myself. However when have you ever known the Indians to do the sensible thing?I fear this one is going to run and run.Tough call for all of us to make.We all love Goa but when it is being made so hard for us to get there what do they think will happen to the visitor numbers.

Read today about visitors from the U.K. to the US being down by around 4% due to the nightmare getting in.Bigger drop forecast by me to Goa.

If the journey was not bad enough. Then the farce of the airport. Then the lunatic taxi drivers. Then the quite honestly shocking standard of accomodation compared to many destinations. Then the hassle from sellers. Now they hit us with this visa farce.

Makes you wonder why we bother.Well you all know why we bother but its a big world out there and my money can be spent anywhere.

I will repeat my experience of Thailand.Get off plane,go to immigration, get passport stamped quickly and efficiently. No bullying from porters visa fee now included in flight ticket.Collect bags from carousel not from floor.Get taxi.Start holiday.

Come on work it out how many will just say enough?

Regards

Take a lot more than this situation with the issuing of Visas to make me go back to America, that's all I can say!

Going to visa surgery in Nottingham in mid October - never been before to a surgery - will go early as it is quite near to me but do they do a quota like they do in Birmingham High Commission etc?
I want to book a flight for 20th October as I have found a good price but shall I book now and hope I can get a visa from the surgery a few days before?
Birmingham - where I always posted to is a no hoper for a visa as they are only taking 50 and I will not have much time if I don't get one from the surgery.
Would not bother but parents are paying for my hols :D :D :D

you can send for your visas to:- your travelshop .com. 409 derby street, bolton, greater manchester. BL3 6LT
send them special delivery, and send another special delivery envelope with it, for them to send your passports back.
the fee at the moment is £10 per visa handling charge and £30 for the visa. so you have to send £40 for each visa you need.
also because they deal with birmingham CGI, you need to download the application forms from their site. http://www.cgibirmingham.org
i live in plymouth, and i am told this is perfectly acceptable.
in fact i have already sent my application off to them for my visas.
hope this helps BOB
