I have been to Cyprus every year of my life and i am 20 now, i have got bitten badly every time except last year when i went with my boyfriend. We bought a mossie spray from Asda only cheap and sprayed it on our legs and arms before going out at night also on our beds when returning from a night out. It really did work because i didnt get bitten once!! They have it in store now!

Heading back to Paphos on Monday, just wondering if there were many mosquitos around or any other evil bitey flying things?!

Thanks

No not at the moment...probably less than the UK, just take normal nightly walkabout anti-sting cream first...but I have not been bitten for sometime.

if you go back over on this forum to page 5 you will see that people were bitten in april and said it is more than likely that they will be about this time of year i saw a few in september last year. my mam and dad are in cyprus at the minute when they ring next i'll ask them if they have been bitten as they love the taste of my dad's ankles!!!

I was really surprised, as I normally get eaten as soon as they see me getting off the plane, I have scars from over 14 months ago from where I got eaten, but in Cyprus (we returned last week) I did not get bitten once :) how fab is that! There were some around, but not overly so, and maybe the VIt b1 and the odourless garlic worked a treat :)

we didnt need to use any repellant, and I others around us hadnt encountered any probs at that time either....just thought Id let you know

yes you may have been saying, but that doesnt mean that we are not allowed to give thoughts, opinions and experiences either.

I was simply saying that although there were some there, it hadnt been too bad, it doesnt take it to be a problem for me to get eaten, so to have had a positive experience I wanted to share.

I thought that this was what these boards were for...for EVERYONE to give their thoughts and also recent experiences, and as such I have done so.

We are going to Cyprus last two weeks in may next year. Is there a lot of mozzzies about at that time of year and will I be able to buy a mosquito plug over there as the one i have is a two pin plug and I hear in Cyprus they have three pin ones like England.
Thanks.

Hi.

I actually find that we don't need the plug ins in Cyprus as we've never been bothered by Mossies in all the years we've been visiting

But if you really feel the need then you just buy an adaptor with UK type 3 pin plug with the Eu type 2 pins to plug your mossie plug into.....so kinda reverse. You can buy them in most eletrical shops as they're not tended to be classed as a Travel type adaptor. I use one for my home phone and it was approx £1.20 from B&Q
