i paid aprox 26 pound,
About december we noticed the diamond had come out and was lost, we emailed the jewellers who advised us to return the ring, and certificate.
In less than three weeks the ring was returned coplete with new diamond for no charge.
could you imagine that service in England ?
had the ring valued today in a local jewellers free of charge. It turns out the diamonds in the ring are real and the ring is worth between 600-700 pounds which is 3 times what we paid for it so good news
I'm surprised to hear about your ring from Kurt and I have dealt with them for years and never had a problem. You should have got a certificate when you bought your ring which lasts 5 years. If you have a problem with the ring I would advise you to contact Kurt and let them know.
Their email address is

I suppose its a matter of trust whos to say jewellers in Hirasonu was telling the truth.
Jewellers over here charge between 1-2% of valuation price when doing a valuation, but if you go to a reputable jewellers here they should be able to tell you if diamonds are real without you having to get a valuation done most places will do that for free.
I hope you get this sorted theres nothing worse than feeling let down or ripped off.

I had the ring valued and everythings ok.To be honest we thought it was real diamonds as we had never heard anything bad about Kurts but there was still a small niggling doubt in the back of our minds. At least its all cleared up now
I'm glad you got it sorted.
Isnt is nice to know you have had a bargain.
I must admit even though Steve at Kurt is a friend you had me wondering about mine
Going over in Sept to buy more hubby is panicking

Just got my jewellery valued... whooopeeeee!!!!
I can honestly say that every piece of gold i have bought from Turkey has been worth at least 3 times as much here. I was worried because our engagement rings cost us 250ytl for both, (two coloured gold) and wedding rings cost us 600ytl, when valued here i learned that the engagement rings should be insured for at least 350 quid and our wedding rings 850 quid. Also the same with several other pieces of gold we have purchased. We bought all ours from a small place in marmaris, in the bazaar, in the winter time. Normally shops are more expensive in the winter time, as they dont have as much custom as summer, but i was glad to hear all our purchases had been real bargains!!! As said in previous post, make sure you get the certificate, as you can always go back if you think you have been done!
I took in 2 rings, a bracelet and a necklace which I have bought from Olu Deniz, Icmeler and Kusadasi over recent years and have cost in total £670. The valuation has come back at £2475!!!!!
The biggest increase is for a 14ct gold figaro necklace that I paid £180 for and is worth £1050.
I just can't believe it!! I don't intend to sell any of it but the increase would pay for another holiday wouldn't it??
I looked at a few jewellers in Olu Deniz so may well after hearing this go ahead and buy some jewellery. Any recommendations??
Anne
I was disappointed with the jewellers Macri in Olu Deniz main street. I took the ring I had bought there last year back for a replacement stone. (Ruby.) They quoted £25 but after I said this was about the same price as in England they dropped the price to £20. I collected the ring, just before flying home but when I looked at it the next day I could see right through the replacement stone, so it must be glass.
Hi Dadooronron, Should you return to Olu Deniz for a holiday, then I recommend you take the dolmus up to Hisaronu and visit Pinara Gold, a family run establishment. As you go into Hisaronu, the Mosque is on the left and Pinara Gold is in the next parade of shops on your left. We bought from here seven years ago.
I just got a pair of diamond earrings in Sarigerme, they are 18ct white gold and 1/2 carat diamond. I just saw a very similar pair in H Samuels for £999 !!!!! Mines cost 949 ytl, they said it would be £325 but appeared as £349 on the cc statemet. Still good value I'd say!
Scottishmum, You are right, Turkish jewellery is excellent value, my wife buys something nearly every visit, purely because of the unique designs, many of which you would never see in this country.
I have now made it my mission to ensure that dh buys me something diamond for every visit we make to Turkey! lol
I keep saying I am going to get it valued - i have to get it made slightly smaller so I will get it valued then.
Can you post photos on here?
Hi Mrs Gannet, You will find that your ring will be valued at between two and three times the amount you paid for it. This is why Turkish Jewelery is such excellent value.
all you jewelery lovers should try one of the tours while in turkey ,they take you to a jewelery factory where a lot of stuff is made , they try to get you to buy some ,but you are under no obligation, some of the stufff is fasinating , and is well worth a visit
On the subject of price - I think a piece of jewellary is worth whatever you're prepared to pay for it. I don't take much notice of valuations either - I'm sure jewellars have a secret agenda for inflating the true cost when giving a valuation. I had a ring valued some years ago for insurance purposes and I'm convinced the jewellar over-valued it (I had an idea of it's worth as I'd inherited it from my mother). And I know that if I were to ask him to buy it off me. he would probably offer me about one fifth of what he valued it at. So for insurance purposes and if you lose an item, a high valuation is a good thing, but you'll never sell it at that price.
As for the jewellary in Turkey - there's some really unusual pieces out there which you can't find back home. and that's good enough reason for me to treat myself!
