jjackie, have a look at this item number on ebay 130012225590 its a ph neutral box thats the right size for putting in the overhead locker on the plane. There is also acid free tissue paper so the dress doesn't get stained etc.
I got a large one to pack my dress away after our wedding last year and they are good quality.

We are getting wed at the Nissi Beach Hotel on the 17th May 07. I am having the same problems with the reception as you, there is in between 17-20 of us!!! Have you booked through a tour operator?
Annette
Hi Lillian i saw your post regarding where to have your reception, like you we had 33 people in paphos, we visited many restaurants and none were that private, have you thought about hiring a yacht for your reception, we booked exclusive yacht weddings, we had the boat all to ourselves, and when you think of paying £25 per head and may not get the privacy you want, its better off paying a little extra to make it private and special!
Oh we fly out on the 16th!! Will be thinking of you on the 17th! We will be at the Town Hall on the 17th putting in our application for marriage!
We are doing everything ourselves and not via a Tour Operator or Co-ordinator. The good thing is if there is anything we are really struggling with to arrange then we can get a co-ordinator to arrange it for us but so far it has been ok. What about you are you doing it on your own or via Tour Operator?
Hi "Not Yet Married"
I thought about the yacht but then that's only for a few hours too is it not (and my H2B doesn't like boats )? I am really looking for somewhere we can be all night with a dj or something along those lines....but thanks for suggestion.
Bye
Lillian
Thats a shame, my Mother in law is the same so we had the boat docked at the harbour, and she got on and off when she pleased, we had the boat from 2pm till 12pm so had our full reception meal and everything on board, got MIL full of the wine and sailed out into the sunset! Hope you have a wonderful wedding and well done for doing all the organising yourself!
We have booked the wedding through Thomas Cook, but I was trying to see if I could get better prices for the extra's by booking them direct.
You mentioned the The Corner Restaurant and Blueberries were are these?
Annette
http://www.thecornerrestaurant.com/article.php?id=15 - The Corner Restaurant is in Protaras. It looks reallly nice. I'm not that keen on their set menus though (you can view their packages on their site)so have emailed them to ask if you can select your own.
http://www.blueberriesrestaurant.com/article.php?id=14 - Is in Ayia Napa and as you will see from the web site was voted best restaurant in Time Out for 2005.
I haven't been to either of them bu my mum and dad in law to be have been to Blueberries, they said that it is on a street that doesn't look great but that inside is lovely and the food, service etc was fantastic (some of the pictures on the site look quite old). I emailed them and they sent me sample menus which at £18 are fantastic - Here is one:
STEAK DIANE
OR
SIRLOIN STEAK FLAMED IN BRANDY & RED WINE, MUSHROOMS & ONIONS FINISHED IN A FRESH CREAM SAUCE WITH FRENCH MUSTARD
OR
PEPPERED STEAK
PRIME SIRLOIN STEAK FLAMED IN BRANDY & RED WINE, FINISHED IN A FRESH CREAM SAUCE WITH GROUND, CRUSHED OR
CHICKEN MARSALA
SUCCULENT CHICKEN BREAST SAUTE WITH MUSHROOMS & ONIONS WITH MARSALA WINE IN A FRESH CREAM SAUCE
BLACK PEPPER
THE MAIN COURSE WILL BE SERVED WITH ONE CHOICE OF THE FOLLOWING POTATOES, CHIPS, JACKET, BOILED
DESSERT
FRESH STRAWBERRIES WITH CREAM OR BLACKCURRANT ICE CREAM CHEESE CAKE
I found the Corner Restaurant on the Internet.
I've emailed a couple of hotels to see if they have function rooms for hire.......you probably need to be staying in their hotel to get one but it's worth a try
Let me know what you think of the restaurants and if you find any more yourself.
Bye
Lillian
Are they letting you select your own menu at the corner restaurant, I must admit I prefer the look of this one. Do you know how long it takes to get from Nissi Beach to Protaros? Sorry for all the questions, youv'e been very helpful though thanks.
Annette
I prefer the look of the Corner Restaurant too but like I say the menu's aren't very appealing. I am waiting on them getting back to me to let me know if you can select your own menus (I don't see why they wouldn't let you do this).
Protaras is not very far from Ayia Napa, I would say in a car/bus it's probably about 15-20 minutes away (if even). Here's a link to a map although it's not great I'm afraid:
http://www.kypros.com/Cyprus/maps/Cyhotel_map.JPG
I emailed the hotel we are staying in and they have confirmed they have a conference room that they use for weddings etc so they have asked for numbers and the date so they can check availability!! I didn't think they would as it's not a five start or anything but has recently been refurbished. So hopefully we can have our party after all! Even if they don't do the meal we could have the meal at the Corner Restaurant or Blueberries and then head to the hotel to party So fingers crossed!!
Are you taking flowers with you or getting them there?
Bye
Lillian
That sounds like a good plan.
I have an added bonus that my bridesmaid is a florist so she is going to do them when we get there , i do have this website of a florist in aya napa its Arocariaflowers.com they have a contact email on there website.

Is anybody getting married in paphos town hall & have been told they can't find out the date & time they get married until they get to cyprus. I gave 2 preferred dates when we booked & chose afternoon, but first choice said we have to wait until we get there. i've seen so many people talking about the time & date they're getting married I just wanted to know whether anybody knows if this is true or not?
we are also getting married at the town hall 12 noon 27 Sept 07 and not using a coordinator
there are about 60 of us going so emailed various restaurants as we want a meze late afternoon including this one
http://www.mikrolimano.com/index.html
and Kalamies which is in Pernera overlooking a little bay - we had a meze there last year and it was fab !!
the evening is more of a problem as like you I don't want to wander around Protaras in my dress so thinks maybe a quiet restaurant off the main strip where we can stay and take cd's of music to play for the evening
but if you are in a hotel maybe they could put something on for you
I have been to 2 weddings at the golden coast we ate at there both times and one we stayed as there was a disco on for the residents and the other we went over the road to the above restaurant and he put music on and we drank and danced - it was empty of customers anyway

We're not sending invites. We have told family and friends where we are going and when the wedding will be and asked them to let us know if they will make it or not asap for if we need to pay a deposit for meals, arrange a bus for guests or anything. I think we will give until end Sept, early October to get definates from people and any stragglers we will a rearrange anything needed then.
Hi Mato
60 wow!! That will be a fab day! and a fab holiday! You must be excited! Have you still to decide on the restaurant you are having? The link in your post - the restaurant looks really nice and family run which usually means a more personal service where they will go out of their way to ensure happy guests.
I am just waiting on my hotel getting back to me as they confirmed they have a conference room but need to check availability for me. Am not very patient and keep checking my email every two seconds
How have you found organising everything without any help from a tour operator or a co-ordinator? Have you got everything organised or do you still have things to do?
Hi Stacey
I'm not sure how it works with Paphos Town Hall although I have read from past posts that the majority of people who book through a Tour Operator can be messed about with their wedding date i.e. like you say you find out when you arrive, which isn't good if you have guests coming who need to arrange their holiday around your wedding date.
Someone in a previous post (or on another site, I can't remember I check out that many for helpful info!!) had said that they just called the Town Hall direct and it was simple so I did the same. The woman at Paralimni Town Hall told me dates and times that were available and I picked one there and then and that was it.....easy and it meant we could tell our guests immediately and they could organise their holiday too. She told me what would be required before we got married, made our appontment so that we go to apply for the marriage on the second day of our holiday (her suggestion to allow me to rest after our flight), said I have to call her again two months before we fly out and she will remind me of everything that we will need. She was really nice and really helpful.
3 weeks on Wednesday! So close! Are you nervous, excited? Where are you having your reception, will it be a meal and a party, how many guests are going, do you intend to wear your dress all night?
Bye
Lillian
Mato, can I ask what the weddings where like at the Golden Coast hotel ? My friend has booked hers for next September there.
we're both really excited i just believe how quick it's come round. There's only 8 of us going out there so it should be nice, we're wanted to go to a restaurant so we can have a meal & hopefully somewhere that has a bit of entertainment or music, we have been given the name of a few & the wedding co ordinator said she'll take us to see them when we get there & we can choose what we want. I'm wanting to wear my dress all day & night, well for as long as i can really depending on hot i am as it's quite a big dress.
thanks for the info
stacey
the weddings at the golden coast were lovely everything went as the brides wanted
you don't have to stay there to get married - you can just book it for the wedding service or including reception
one was in the chapel - organised by tour operator- it only holds about 10 people at the most but they put chairs outside for the rest of the guests
it was mid September at 3pm and still hot but great as whilst the newlyweds went to have photos everyone mingled on the terrace area which also had cover
one on the terrace -overlooking the sea- they used someone at the hotel to organise everything -this was end of August and very hot but they had large parasols covering the area so it kept eveyone cooler -
for both we ate on the terrace inside a marquee and had a hot buffet which was excellent -
also even though the hotel was very busy you never felt overlooked
we have sorted most things - just need to find silk flowers and contact a couple of photographers we have details for and going to leave restaurant until we arrive - maybe send everyone off to eat at potential restaurants !!
including a list with tick boxes !
hope this helps
