Santa Ponca fireworks and party on the beach were excellent last night. Do visitors get to know that these things are going on?
The weekends festivities would be a good reason for someone to choose Santa Ponca at this time of year - if only they knew!!
Have been watching this discussion most of the summer eagerly awaiting September so I could post my 'sleeps' ( 5 to go by the way)!
I just presumed everybody has had their holiday and now gone off the boil.
I was calm until yesterday - now have clothes in all parts of house, trying to decide which suitcases to take, double-checking toiletries! Argh! Nightmare! The lists get longer!
Watching weather forecast too - some are good some are bad - but I'd rather be in Majorca than here. But got fingers and toes crossed we going to have a nice week in Cala D'or.
Last time we went to Cala D'or was 1986 - really excited to see how it's changed.
Oh, well - back to reality - off to work soon.
Roll on next week!!!
Paul, I think that regular visitors to Santa Ponsa would be aware of the fiesta this week, one is Calabonagirl a regular contributor to this forum who is there at the moment and I think for the fiesta by choice. The important fiesta in Port Soller is held in May and it is very difficult to get accomodation, the place gets packed.
Maybe people are running out of questions
We were in SP in June and thought the resort very quiet compared to previous years. One of the bar owners said it was quiet because of the World Cup but I wouldnt have thought that would make any difference.
I dont know how some of the bars & restaurants survive because the season seems to be getting shorter & shorter.
Have flights booked to Palma for next year but still undecided on where to stay - I would like to try somewhere new but at the moment I am out-voted. Husband & son think Santa Ponsa cannot be beaten, no doubt they will get there way!
Getting rid of husband in 2 weeks for his annual golf holiday with his golf cronies. So I will have a lovely week just my son & I, then the week after he gets back I am off to the Costa Blanca with the girls. Yippee no house work for a week (I know ther will be loads when I get back). Its weird going away with the girls - I am so used to looking for places with bouncy castles or trying to find restaurants that serve nuggets that being able to go anywhere we want and eat where we like seems strange. I can actually take small handbags with me that aren't stuffed with gameboys, top trump cards or ninja turtles I think I miss my son more that he misses me - he is only bothered about me bringing him a present back.
Never mind its quiet we will all keep posting.
Carmel
Carmel. Sounds great. Me and my friend go to Majorca twice a year but always with the kids
Looking forward to the time when we can have a 'girly' week
Hi Tis and all the gang . been very busy in the garden and painting, so not been as regular on the site, things will warm up soon John,,,,
I hope you are all well. I have had a lovely time in Santa Ponsa. First time for the Fiesta it was excellent. I saw everything that was going on the parades , equestrian show ,karate displays , concerts , film on the beach ,medieval markets and the fabulous fireworks. Sometimes we were the only English tourists but we were made welcome. Hubby has lots of photos so when he gets sorted he will put then on the site for you all to have a look at. Speak to you all later CBG

Just packing toiletries etc, thought i'd have a quick look at forum - I see they're relaxing the hand luggage restrictions from Tuesday - Great!! We fly this Saturday!!
It's the width - both our hand luggage bags measure 17cm wide - max on restrictions are 16cm - with no exceptions clearly stated on website!
Decided to pack all usual stuff in hand luggage and just place inside suitcase!
That way I know where everything is and will have hand luggage for return journey! Sounds odd I know - but since I've had my child my brain has disappeared!
Sounds too simple - will probably be pulling my hair out Friday night when trying to fit clothes in case too!!
Nearly done now except for clothes and they'll be going in case Friday! Weather is looking more promising too! Yipee!!
Oh well - back to it, another glass of wine might help I think.
I always take a separate case for toiletries, beach towels, etc. much to hubby's distress Then I know where all sun lotion, shampoo, etc is so I dont have to unpack straight away
What a good idea to pack toiletries etc separately. I always seem to end up with all that stuff in my suitcase and then, my hubby complaines that I've got too much in my case, and he is pleased with himself, as he has managed to pack all his stuff in the smallest case!
I'm starting my countdown now. I've been watching everyones postings, and have been getting more excited for my holiday . Glad you all seem to have had good holidays. Roll on 21st October.
Just hope the hotel is ok, as there have been quite a few bad reports the last few months, but, whatever its like, I am determined to have a great time.

Hubby doing the usual "do we really need to take all that" moan! All he keeps harping on about is will he be able to fit his cheap ciggies in the case on the return flight!!! Then retires back downstairs leaving me with the packing and lists!
Sorry about the rant! Feel better now got that moan off my chest!
Off to work for last day, then bit of pain and pampering on way home - pedicure and waxing!
Hubby has put our holiday snaps of Santa Ponsa in the photo gallery for you all to have a look at.
Cases are almost packed - just a few more items to iron - where does it all come from????
List are been checked and re-checked, little one asleep (phew), Given the house a once over with the hoover, changed the beds, hubby due back from work at 8.30, cook tea, finish packing, have shower and hopefully in bed by 9.30 (fat chance!) up at 4am - brother in law picking us up at 5.15 - airport for 6.
Hopefully in Majorca for 11.15!!
No wonder i need a holiday!!!!
Have a great time to all who are taking off shortly! See you when I get back from Cala D'or! Yipee!!!
although it seems never ending at the moment .......you will get there in the end! i hate the build up to the holiday the day before !
just keep checking your list, have a large glass of wine and try not to worry about anything !
hope you have a wonderful holiday
lou x
have a great holiday
Finally finished - now time for a shower and half hour relax before going to bed!
Tried to cut back on what i'm taking this year and it still looks like we're about to emigrate in the hall!
Still rather have stuff with me than have hubby moaning!
Noted down all the recommended restaurants and will let you know my favourite when I return a stone heavier!
That's all for now - see you when i get back Slightly excited - can you tell!
Hubby put our Photos on the galleries then they were lost BUT today I found them if you want to have a look click here . Holiday is just a memory now. But never fear planning the next one with military precision May 07 Cala Bona or Cala Millor or S'Illot too many sleeps to count yet.
Just got back from Cala Bona on Saturday, had a fabulous time. Weather was great, and hotel (Bonaire) was fantastic!
Hi all, we got back on saturday from Palma nova, had a great time despite the thunderstorms!! Just a word to any smokers out there, you cannot smoke anywhere in Palma airport after you've gone through the security checks, we didn't know until we'd gone through & we were delayed an hour and a half. Just thought I'd let you know. Have a great time all of you going soon.
