Chilly the last time we were there was dec 04. We stopped off at a bar on a small highway and had a cold beer after a hard days slog :rofl

Anyway, I was dying for a pee, so I asked my old man to go on a toilet reckie

He came back and said I had to see this one its a classic. So I followed him around the corner and it was a typical indian toilet, no door also. So he held a towel up and I went into full flow while the traffic went by. Just about 20 ft away an old man loaded his truck with water, so what does OM do, he drops the towel and runs back to the bar. I nearly died of shock and shouted :swear for him to come back. The old man turned round and saw my look of horror and started laughing, I could not stop peeing to save my life . I grabbed my towel and was just about to leg it back to the bar and I heard a grunting noise, I walked around the back of the building and there was pigs licking up my pee. :yuck
Well Chilly, I had bacon on toast for brecky and I can tell you I havent touched it since :yuck :rofl :rofl

Going to Goa for the first time on 19th and must admit all this talk about toilets has put me off Pork (previously my favourite meat) for life! :yuck

:rofl :rofl GL that is how all the toilets used to be years ago thats why we dont eat pork out there :yuck common practise .......... as you did your big business  !!!!! :rofl :yuck ........ they gobbled it up from behind you!! my Goan friends house still has that, puts me right off :rofl

Most of the toilets now are the septic tank type. There's very few piggies running around these days. Well in South Goa anyway. A lot of the Pork comes from proper farms so I wouldn't worry about bacon and the like. I do suspect however that the Goa sausages being sold in the market are made by pigs that live in the villages so God knows what they eat.

I would take a hell of a lot of persuading to entice me with a goan sausage or a rasher whilst in Goa :yuck :rofl :rofl

So many dishes to die for! I loved the Fish Curry at the Arabian shack in Candolim, OH loved the Chicken Tikka Masala at Mango Grove and Indiana's, the Butter Chicken at Indiana's tasted great but I was really bad afterwards. We loved the food at Just Chinese and just about every dish everywhere else!

The samosas at Anjuna market were made and cooked fresh and are the best I've ever tasted, and the vegetable fried rice at the top of Vagator was excellent. The lunch at the Spice Plantation was excellent too.

Oh, and the garlic butter naans. Mmmm! Next time it isn't a beach holiday in Goa, it's an eating holiday...

The Momos from Calangute Association are fantastic. They cost 30rps for 8-10 and are cooked by a Tibetan woman who runs her business from there, they are served with a wonderfully spicy homemade chilli sauce. The lady we use to buy silver (Sonan) says the still make a decent profit and living from selling them.
Can't wait to taste them again.
I know I shouldn't be saying this, but, Amanda, my wife loves them, and gets very excited when she burps a couple of hours later and gets the aftertaste

Hi hotxbun what are momos
Reply
Hi Sammy, momos are tibetan filled dumplings, the ones we prefer are filled with minced beef, garlic, coriander. They are normally steamed or sometimes deep fried. You can try them at either of the saturday night markets.
If the flights go to plan we should be getting some around 1230 next friday
