You'll be fine in Denizli, it is only few hours away from Marmaris so not really any different to the tourist areas health wise. Obviously go for bottled water and follow other similar advice. We regularly go to Afyon (well off the tourist trail) and haven't bothered with anything.

Hi all, am just wondering if im right in thinking that you dont need jabs for turkey. We last went to turkey 20yrs ago and had to have them then and mosquito tablets.

I assume you are talking about tourist resorts and no you don't. I would check if you are going right out east but anywhere else and you'll be fine.

I asked my GP yesterday and she said that although many people go with no vaccinations and are fine. NHS Scotland recommends that everyone has Hep A and a booster for Diptheria, Polio and Thyphoid(available as a three in one). I'm already immune to Hep A so I only need the booster. I'll probably make sure the missus and kids get their as well. Not sure we'll need them but I'd hate for the kids to get anything while on holiday.

Hi

We will be going to Lykia World, Olu Deniz and it's our first venture to Turkey.

Can anyone please advise if we would be likely to need vaccinations please? We don't plan to venture far from the complex.

In essence, no you don't need any but have a look at the FCO's recommendations for further advice.

We don't plan to venture far from the complex.

You should do, see some real Turkey!

Thanks for your replies :D

I did contact my doctor and they recommend a host of them for me and hubby and a couple for the kids!!

As for getting about, I do know what you mean but I have to admit that last years bombings have made me very cautious and rightly or wrongly am nervous about taking the children out and about. That said the complex is vast and I'm sure they'll be plenty to do and people to meet.

pamplemousse,

I flew out to Icmeler last year the week after the bombing in Marmaris and the place was deserted. First time I've ever seen no-one on the beach in Marmaris and it was the quietest I've ever seen Icmeler in August / September. I'm sure I speak for most of the Turkey regulars here, please don't let the bombings put you off going out. There's as much chance, if not more of a chance of a terrorist attack in this country as there is in Turkey at the moment. When we were there, although the police had a covert presence, they were out in force and they even had coast guard helicopters doing a sweep of the bay in the morning and evening. There's much to see and do in Turkey so get out and about enjoy. Don't worry about the idiots.

hi

ive been travelling to turkey around 25 years now going up to 5 times a year and lost count of the amount of times ive been to many too mention lol, mainly taking my children and none of us has had any jabs nor any other problems. my mother lives there and she hasnt had any either. i never feel worried or unsafe in turkey, sadly these bombers are everywhere and if we thought about it too much we wouldnt even visit london etc. so dont let this put you off. also ive been to lykia world and its a fab place, with lots to do, but please visit olu deniz and the lagoon at least, we went to lykia with 30 other people some didnt leave the complex and regretted it once they got home after they realised some of the fa scenery they missed. the lagoon is so warm, tranquil ideal for the kids to swim and paddle in. we stayed mainly at suara beach area which suited us great. if i can help with any other questions let me know
