Brilliant, thanks for your help. I'll have a look for those on ebay. You said you use 3 tubes, what size was that?

So, it's between P20 and the piz buin one now. Can anyone that's used P20 tell me how many bottles they needed for 2 weeks?

If you look on ebay at the moment there are 6x100 ml for £21.00 plus p&p,it would be more than enough for you,I still get a good tan with factor 30,I have looked and it doesn't seem that factor 20 exists. We usually holiday in May but this year we're going to Turkey in August and it will be very hot,I have got about 8x 100ml for 2 of us,I'll keep any that are not opened for next year, have got my son 6x100ml for his 3 week holiday to Florida because I know that he would rather burn than use his spending money to get more,it should be far too much as he will not be sunbathing and mostly wearing a t-shirt but rather safe than sorry is my motto.T.

I've just looked up the piz buin once a day and in the instructions it says to reapply frequently after swimming, sweating or towelling so I think I might stick to the P20 as I was really looking for something that I didn't have to reapply through the day. I normally just go for the tesco's own or something but fancied a holiday free of worrying about reapplying lotion all day especially as I regularly go into the pool for a swim.

Thanks for your help though!

You're welcome.I am too scared of burning to trust any lotion completely, please let us know how you get on with it as I must admit I'd rather not bother about reapplying,T.

Just for info, I saw a skin specialist once with my son (he had an unusual rash, which he sorted straight away) and I asked him about sun tan lotion for my son as his skin is so sensitive. The one thing he told me to never use was P20. The reason you get more of tan with it is because it is like using a sunbed (and you know how harmful they are) it only blocks out 1 type of ray (can't remember which one UVB or UVA!) He told me it was banned in some countries and that it was very dangerous to use. This was a few years ago so don't know if it has changed at all. Anyway, for this reason I would never use this or any of the other once a day lotions either (in case they are the same) I mean I would never put my 6yr old on a sunbed, would you?.

He recommended a lotion called Sun Sense (made in Australia) and I get it online, I use this on my son all the time and he has never had any problems. It mostly has high factors and I usually use 40/50 for my son. On the high street he said Soltan was fine to buy, I think the reason that most people have a problem is they wear too low a factor (never go under 15) and also don't put enough lotion on. You really have to coat yourself and at least twice a day (minimum, if really hot)

Anyway, sure someone will correct me if P20 has changed for the better.

I got some for my grown up son when we were going to Portugal in April. He was training and didn't want to have to keep worrying about burning. He didn't like and he burnt. Ended up using his dads Nivea Factor 20.

I've always used Piz buin - sometimes the one especially for allergy and sometimes the ordinary. I thought I'd found another good suncream when I bought nivea light feel. I've been using it this weekend in this intense heat, it has a lovely smell but I've noticed tonight that I've come out in lumps and bumps under the skin- like prickly heat without the prickly sensation :( Has anybody had trouble with the nivea creams or is it likely to be something to do with the british heat :que Just wondering if I should leave it behind when I go to Turkey in the summer and stick to the piz buin.

I personally hate Nivea sun cream, I got burnt really badly in Greece using a factor 30. I don't tan very well at all and have to wear a high factor so I could have put this down to me, but my husband who is much darker and does tan also burnt using this factor 30!

I like Roc for my chest area (if you know where I mean) as that is where I usually suffer with prickly heat but it is getting harder to get hold off (the spray type) and also getting dearer. Just interesting to know the rating on Roc is not 5 star yet I really like it. Just goes to show everyone is different. I also like ambre solaire clear protect spray. I find the sprays go on much better. Might try the Rona Ross prickly heat gel this year, people on here have recommended it, the only thing is seems to be lower factor than I would need

Hi Shirley
I don't use Nivea but hubby does. He never has a problem. He does go dark but can burn first if not careful. Maybe the humidity is the cause rather than the cream?
I always use Piz Buin or Lancaster for the majority of me :rofl and L'Oreal Anti Wrinkle and Brown Spot creams for face and neck.
I think it's a question of finding out what works for you. Everyone has different skin and it changes through the age ranges. :(

i cant use Nivea , i got badly burnt one year using it , tried it again a few years later , just to see if it was a bad batch , but the same thing happened , i also had those horrible lumps and bumps without the itch , have never been tempted to buy it again , i usually stick with the avon range , i did try the dry oil spray at the weekend and didn't burn at all .

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll leave the nivea at home as I don't want to risk it. I used to like the avon suncreams so I might give them a go again if I can't find the piz buin on offer. Does anybody know if there's a BOGOF offer on Piz Buin anywhere at the moment please? thanks

I normally don't go above a SPF 15 apart from a 20 on the first 2 days but I think I'll stick with the 20 throughout this time.

I saw a couple of people with an aerosol type can by Piz buin this year. Not sure if they were English but it looked so much easier to apply .

Can anyone tell me what it might have been . We are fair skinned so it would be no good for us if it is low factor or more designed for those that oil themselves and go deep brown within the hour . I see a dry oil spray mentioned a couple of pages back but couldnt find anything with that type of description on the boots website .

Hi lynwestie,I got all my piz buin from e-bay,we mostly use once a day when we are abroad and although I tan quite easily we are using factor 30 in August when we go to Turkey as it should be very hot,I've got 8x100ml tubes,2 left over from last year and 6 I got at a very reasonable price, there are bogof offers at most pharmacies, also some of the supermarkets,I paid about £30 for 6 from e-bay.T.

I usually buy a combination of Piz buin and Ambra Solaire but this Aerosol can caught my eye .

Probably wouldnt use something like that for the main morning application as I never feel enough has gone on with the spray type but looks good and easy for top up applications .

Will have a search on Ebay .

TJ Hughes are advertising Piz Buin 200ml allergy lotions in factors 15, 30 & 50 multibuy 2 for £10.

Shirley, Piz buin is BOGOF in Boots and Superdrug at the moment. I have bought the one day long Piz Buin in 15 and 30 which I think is really good. I noticed it on offer in TJ Hughes for £5.99 but this is only for 100ml. It is £18 in Superdrug for 200ml and BOGOF.

Maybe cheaper on Ebay.

Lyn, I have seen an 'Active Spray' aerosol in Piz Buin. I haven't tried it but it is supposed to be a cooling spray. I have seen spf 20 and 30 :)
