Thanks Emma and Sallington
The forecasters keep changing their minds. (No change there). The bbc one is pretty good. At least we know it's not going to be scorchio back here.....sorry to you all trying to entertain the kids in a rainy half term. Hope it's better than they are predicting for you.
Saw the new review on this site.....fantastic. We are so excited. My two boys are bouncing off the walls!
Emma, I see you are off to the Delphin palace in September. Lucky you, it looks fab. Might go and look for future reference. The Barut Lara also seems to come out on top. Didn't look like it had so much to do for kids though.
I will post a review on our return. Must think about packing now. :D :D

We got back last night from a fantastic week at Titanic. Will do a review when I have waded through the washing and got some food in the house!
Wish we were still there.

hi emmao2,

have just read your review and now im concerned,we too have booked interconnecting rooms at titanic, did people really have to move hotels due too over booking???
we have other relatives staying at the hotel at the same time so that could never be an option i would do.i just hope its all ok!
how bad was it? is it a frequent thing happening???

   :?:

Hi Sallington
Sorry, didn't mean to worry you. Didn't hear of any british people being moved. It seemed to be the dutch being moved to Topkapi palace for two days and the brits being upgraded. Lots of people talking about it. I spoke to one woman who's family got upgraded to the huge suite on the top floor because there were no inter-connecting rooms left...lucky things.
We emailed the hotel before we left and requested a room high up which we got, so that may be an idea. We personally found our room a bit cramped for the four of us and we wished we had two rooms. Have you booked sea views?
We had a fab time at the Titanic. It was fantastic. Wish we could go back.

When we were there last year there was us (family of 5) and another british family (also 5) who had both booked inter-connecting rooms. There were none left so we got upgraded to the VIP poolside villas! I'm sure you will be okay if they have over-booked. Sure they won't have though.

Both emmas - glad you enjoyed it. I'd love to go back as we had such a ball, but funds this year would not allow. Boo hoo!

thanks for all your help, lets hope if they are over booked that its for the better rooms!!

no such luck!!

i will e-mail the hotel to request a higher room as we normally choose them anyway.

are the interconnecting rooms are high?
are the suites high?

sorry to ask so much!!!

there are several interconnecting rooms on each floor. don't think it will be a problem for you. regards denny

Hi Sallington
Really sorry...didn't intend to panic you. There were several wedding parties on the Saturday before we arrived and apparently this is what caused problems. I don't know if the interconnecting rooms are scattered about or what. I recommend asking for rooms towards the front of the hotel. The left hand side has the best views. The views from the back aren't great at all. Having said that, we spent so little time in our room. The swimming pool space was just incredible. We are looking to book another hotel in Turkey for next May. Don't know where to go though. Worried nowhere will live up to the Titanic.
The suites are on every floor at the front of the hotel. They must have fab views. I could rave about this hotel all day!

over booked hotel!!

they are moving british guests that are arriving on sunday ,yes this sunday.we are arriving on sunday and to cut a long story short my brother and family sre going as well, only problem is we havent been moved but he has. They let him no this morning,3 days before he goes!!!!

Moved to the royal wings, yes it looks fab,but we are still at titanic.

Does anyone no haw far apart they are?
THis is really bad as its obviously not the first time!!!!!!!!!

Any suggestions welcome!!!!

oh by the way the only reason we havent been moved is cause there are no interconnecting rooms anywhere else!!!

That's awful. Can you not have two seperate rooms as we always do, lot's cheaper and go for some compensation?
Reply
thanks but kids are only 12 and 8 they are too young to have a room all to themselves and it might not be nxt to ours either.Dare not risk it!!!!

thanks anyway

sallington, mine are between 6-11 but hubby and I split up and have 2 apiece. We have never not got rooms next door to each other. The reason we do this is the prices are far cheaper for us as we often manage to get 2 free kids.

Oh Sallington !!

How very annoying for you :x

I would definitely tell him to kick up a fuss about this and stand his ground - he should tell them he can't be moved as you are celebrating something together (anniversary or some other family occasion - the whole purpose of the trip I would say) so you HAVE to eat together ...tell them anything !!

- for all purposes your bookings are linked as you are relatives - he should insist he stays with you...perhaps if he kicks up enough fuss with the T/A and/or directly with the hotel, they might relent - worth a try.

I'd be so annoyed if this happens to us, and its annoying that it is allowed to go on - like going into a garage to buy a Ford and being told you must have a Nissan, because its still the same standard of car

We have booked independently with an accommodation only provider - so I'm hoping that we wouldn't be quite so vunerable...

But, there again its difficult to know if the fault lies with the hotel or the tour operator - its difficult to concieve how this happens. Perhaps someone in the industry can enlighten us ????.....however, these big tour operators seem to be a law unto themselves, once they have your money !
