Quara/Buggiba: To cater for the brits the place is a bit like Southend of the Med. There are your usual cruddy souvenir shops and tacky bars but there are also some nice places to go to as well. Look for Di's Bar (a memorial to Princess Di) tacky as Elizabeth Duke jewellery but has amazing home made cherry wine!! All depends what your looking for but there are noisy places and quiet places. There is no beach as is the case for most if Malta, but there are plenty of bars on the rocks with pools and these are mosty really great places!! Enjoy your holidays all.

The Resort, like all Malta was of a good standard of cleanliness. Other hotels in the area offered entertainment and their were just one or two clubs. The beach is non existant as the sea front is made up of rocks that have had concrete put down to fill the larger holes. Snorkelling is wonderfull but the sea bed is very undulating so is realy for the stronger swimmer.

Qawra (pronounced OWRAH) was nice but the neighbouring Bugibba was lovely, go in the evening along the promenade to the main square where you will find some superb restaurants.
Highly recommend The Salad Bowl, where I tried 2 local specialities(Beef Olives, and Pan Fried Rabbit) and opposite Salad Bowl is Freewheelers again food and service were fantastic!
We will definitely be back to these resorts but won't be staying at The Palm Court!!

We were sold the hotel as St Pauls Bay, but the hotel is actually at Qawra point. Malta is a very dry dusty place and so I have ignored this when I scored the resort cleanliness. There was no litter, so I feel it was reasonably clean.
There was very little in the way of entertainment in this area. A few pubs and a couple of restaurants. You need to walk to Bugibba for a better selection of pubs and restaurants.
There were no beaches, only rocky outcrops or concrete slabs overhanging the waters edge.
Nothing for kids from 10 to 16 to do.
Got a bus to Golden Bay which was a nice sandy beach and worth a visit.
Malta is definately for couples.

Qwara is not an attractive place. There are a lot of high rise buildings and generally the place looks grubby. St Pauls, further up the coast, is far more attractive. There are no sandy beaches on this part of the coaast but you can get into the sea from the rocks and hire umbrellas and beds. This can get expensive each day.
The entertainment in out hotel consisted of karaokee and quizes. Around and about there were one or two discos, and lots of bars and and restaurants. there are lidos along the front but these were crowded. There are much better places to stay on Malta than this built-up resort.

Qawra is a small town next to Bugibba. There is not a lot of nightlife. The best place to go is a club called El Fuego. For nightlife the best thing is to take a bus to Paceville.
Also I was disappointed there is no sandy beach - just rocks, but it is possible to swim.
Various hotels provide musical entertainment, plus there is the nightclub I mentioned above.

The resort was ok and had numerous bars and restaurants. The beaches in malta are mainly rocky. I can't fault the resort as a base it offered some good outings eg. the blue lagoon.

Qawra is a fairly lively resort with lots of bars and restaurants catering to every possible taste.
There is no beach but has a rocky forshore which can be used for bathing however there are some lovely beaches about 25 minutes bus ride away. On the whole it was clean ( about the same as UK) people friendly.
There are lots of things to do on the Island and there is an excellent bus system across the whole Island, I would however reccomend those more adventurious to hire a car for a few days ( get one with no accident excess as the Maltese style of 'go for it and sound the horn' could get a bit expensive.
Car hire was cheap and allowed us to explore the backroads a bit.
Gozo the neighbouring Island is 40 minutes ferry and has some beautiful beaches.

A lot of new hotels/apartments being build. Plenty of bars offering food as well as drink along the front. More choice in Bugibba than Qawra. Was warned about timeshare but did not notice any.

We stayed in Qawra, it had everything you needed.
Bars, a couple of clubs, some good restaurants. The streets are clean and well kept, some pavements are a bit slippery. We didn't come across any litter anywhere.
The area of Qawra doesn't have any sandy beaches, its all rocky, but beautiful. we took a speed boat ride for 40 minutes around St.Pauls bay for Lm12 which is close to £20.
The nearest sandy beach is roughly 20 minutes away-also very clean.
We would definetly visit Qawra again.
