I tend to visit Malta in the Autumn, Winter and Spring, and I have to say I'm not a "Beach Animal", not that Buggiba beach, [what beach?] is extensive.

Buggiba/Qawra is commercialised, clean in parts, mucky in others, clean at times, mucky at others.

Bit like Spanish, Greek and English resorts, I suppose, but there is a small army of people cleaning it, [like painting the Forth Bridge?]

It's got Bars, Cafes, Shops, Hotels that have entertainment, so if you don't like what's on in your hotel, you can visit another, [try that in Britain, if you dare!!!], a Bus Station, a Laundrette, lots of smiling people, and quite often, in the winter, the wind blows and it rains, sometimes the sun shines!

What more could you want? Roll on Holiday!!

Rocky 'beach' - literally just a concrete block. Lots of bars not too far but all the same. Few decent places for lunch.

We liked Quara but it could do with a good tidying up, the timeshare idiots tend to spoil it(mostly british).

Resort pretty much as expected, usual shops selling tourist tack. plenty of bars and places to eat. beach no good for sun worshppers as is all rocks, there are few beaches in malta. Hotel is very close to bus station (not on bus route so no noise) so it is easy to explore the whole of malta very cheaply. we got bus to ferry terminal in north and then took ferry over to Gozo, much cheaper and more fun to do it yourself, saying that there are lots of places offering organised trips which are good value. Sw3imming with dolphins was a great experience if expensive (aprox £70) Beware of aggressive time share/holidat club sales people who offer all sorts of freebies and lie to get in to there offices, very difficult to get back out and the freebies are non existent, they will tell you everything, they need you to come or they dont get paid, you only need to look around a display, unless you want to buy DO NOT GO.. People all seemed friendly, in winter seems to be mainly penshioners in the resort.

I can't comment on this, as we were out from 09:30hrs - 18:00hrs or so diving. The general area was fine, apart from a timeshare pest I nicknamed 'Wobble Chops'!

There was nothing to do in the resort (we initally put it down to being out of season, but looking around found it difficult to imagine anything happening in the summer). You could take a 10 minute walk to Buggiba to the shops who all sell the same(lace, jewellery, or knitwear), or get the bus from the station to another area with nothing to do. Although people say " you either love or hate Malta", I didnt hate it, but there is nothing there that I would go back for.

Qwara is pretty and very English. There aren't beaches to speak of but the island is nice to look round and all the Maltese are polite and friendly

The resort of Qawra was just the right mix, not too noisy and not to quiet situated well for travelling around the island and right next to the bus terminus.

No beach so if you like sand dont go!

Incredibly touristy, not a nice location at all. The main bus station is not far though so that is a plus. The rocky beach on the other side the road from the hotel is ok and there were people fishing off the rocks but it's by a busy road so not that peaceful.
