We have visited Quawa and buggiba many times The resort is whatever t it to be, good resturants, entertainment, and lovely local people. It would be a shame for anyone to be put off visiting Malta because of poor standards and dont care attitudes of a firm like Malta Bargains

The resort itself was disappointing with virtually no entertainment and the same type of shop and cafe / restaurant in each street you visited, but the people were very friendly and most spoke excellent English.
We hired a car and were told by staff that an underground car park under the hotel grounds cost ML1 per day. Avoid this like the plague as it is municiple and you are charged ML1 wether you stay in it 12 hours or 12 minutes as it has a ticket and barrier system. My one overnighjt parking cost me ML2 and a 35 minute stay cost ML1. We found a public car park just around the corner where we parked the rest of the time.
In all though hotel staff were brilliant and would go out of their way to help you. Phillipe, one of the reception mamagers spent a considerable time phoning around to find somewhere for me to hire a light aircraft to tour the island and staff willingly answered any queries and you did not get the impression that you were being fobbed off.
Although there is an extensive road building programme, in general roads are shocking and virtually no signposts at roundabouts etc. You just have to take pot luck. Drivers are worse just pulling out in front of you and sticking in thge middle of the road at about 20mph where you couldn't overtake although often drivers would just overtake on the left so you had to adopt their method of driving or be stuck, but for all that there was never any road rage or bad temper.
We visited a lot of places shown on brochures but many of them were shut.
Cost of living generally is expensive and you have to shop around. Changing travellers cheques at the hotel is expensive and there is a bank on the opposite corner where the rate is far better.
Generally if the hotel had been in a more exciting country we would definately go back time and again as we could not fault it apart from the breakfasts but would not visit Malta in the future. However we spoke to many who have gone back each year so this is just a personal preference.

Bugibba/Qawra has plenty of bars and restaurants with loads of entertainment in the bars to choose from. The beach is rocky and the sea is very clean and clear. A nice stroll from Buggiba round Qawra Point is a good way to pass an hour or so. The bus station is handy to get to any place on the island cheaply.

The resort seamed to be clean and tidy.
Lots to do, shops, cafe's, bars, restaurants and sightseeing.
No beach a such just a rocky coastline with places to enter the sea for bathing.
I would visit this resort again , it has something for everyone, young and old.

First impressions werent great - stopped by timeshare touts 3 times in the first hour from leaving hotel - they even pulled up in cars and asked us to get in and they'd take us to presentation. You soon learn to pretend you dont speak english/ignore them etc. Qawra itself is pretty small but the walk along to Bugibba along the sea is nice takes about 20-25 mins at slow wandering pace - we didnt actually discover til the second week you can do it in ten or less if you go up through Qawra and through the bus station. Most of the bars are touristy or ex-pat owned, not really my sort of thing - I like to feel I'm in another country in aspects other than the weather but there were some good ones. The Canadian Road Stop one was particularly good - Tucker's I think it was called. hills are a bit steep from seafront up to the town so if you arent very mobile that might be a pain. Theres not a whole lot going on in Qawra but its not exactly peaceful either. Entertainment was of the karaoke or singers doing the classic old covers style, aimed at an older audience than us. We did get a bit of a scare when in the departure lone we could only see a couple of others around our age (36 & 28) but Id rather that than hoardes of 18-20 year olds :o).

Food isnt half bad - mostly pasta and pizza - you must go to the little bakery on Tourist street and try the pea cakes and pies - fantastic, think Greggs but 100 times better. Vegetarians like me will survive - though i don't want another pizza in a long time. Best food we found was the Mirabelle in Bugibba. Prices are similar or less than UK but pizza and pasta way better than ours - why there is a Pizza Hut in Bugibba is beyond me

Would probably go to Qawra again if we return to Malta but theres so many other countries I want to see first.

The resort was very clean with a few shops, restaurants and bars. Buggiba was lively and only a 10/15 min walk away which was very good and we found ourselves going here most nights. The seafront is rocky but at least you don't burn your feet on the sand!

The bus's go overwhere and are really cheap so getting to a sandy beach wasn't a problem. I would definitely go back to Malta again but would probably stay in Buggiba.
