As a family holiday resort Qawra has limitations. The coast is rocky, but the water clean. There are more activities a short drive away. There are many bars and restaurants locally, some offering excellant meals. The locals on the main are very friendly and most speak good English.I love Malta, it's so laid back and will return.

We booked this holiday as a sort of quick getaway, so knew about the rocky seafronts. Beautiful island if you are into scenery and the likes and really good weather.
We found 2 really good beaches, Golden Bay and melliha (spelt wrong I think) Bay, the 2nd being the best great water sports facilities beautiful sandy beaches, crystal clear water.
I strongly recommend the trip to the Blue Lagoon on the Romantika boat! Excellent. Crystal clear water, the odd bit of rubbish but thats us tourists unfortunately.
Would not go again purely because it is an older generation resort. Do not stay at Canifor/Dorirose!

There are plenty of shops - the entertainment is brilliant - the locals are very friendly and helpful - the buses - well thats an entertainment in its own right - they are old fashioned and brilliant - Qawra/buggiba - everything great -

Qwara was nice and it was only a short walk to Buggiba and St Pauls bay, also there was lots of buses to get around the island and they were realy cheap.
We visited a couple of sandy beaches as the beach in Qwara is rocks.
We found the local people very friendly and we would love to go back to the same hotel and resort again.

There is no "beach" just rocks, but the pool is OK, but will get very crowded. The bars in Bugeba are full of atmosphere, especially when England were playing in the world cup. Car hire from the hire shop next to the hotel was very cheap, but the roads very very bumpy, but keep to the side roads for that true experience of Maltese roads, even the pothole repairs have got pot hole repairs.

Qawra does not have much to offer but five minute walk to Buggiba which has many shops bars and restaraunts, local people very friendly but got a bit fed up with cars screeching to a halt beside us and crys of "are you english" "no we are not time share honestly" Yeah right but at least most took no for an answer. dont go here if you want long sandy beaches as there are not many but easily assessable by the cheap "bumpy" bus service even though the timetable appeared to be a bit haphazard Lot of building work going on around the island and unfinished properties (something to do with paying taxes we were told)but on the whole very clean and plenty of rubbish bins . definately going back here in sept 06

Only go to Qwara / Buggiba for a quiet holiday, there is little entertainment, most the bars of which there are not that many tend to have football on large screens coming at you from every direction or karaoke bars. If you want something different try Watsons Drag bar in Qwara behind the George pub. Valletta is a must see day trip.
The promenade and rocky areas were kept clean. I,m glad i've been to Malta but cannot forsee a return visit.

We liked Qawra / Bugibba, it was easy to get to Sliema, Valletta, Mdina and other places by local bus.
We enjoyed the walk along the sea front to the pretty St Pauls Bay.
The time share people are a real nuisance, but we just keep walking.
There is an awful lot of building work going on.
The locals we met and chatted with were very friendly.
It was our second visit to Malta and we enjoyed it much more than when we stayed in Sliema six years ago.Although we did enjoy returning to Sliema for several visits and for a boat trip around the harbour.

I had not stayed in Bugibba before, usually going to Marsascala, however, I found the town of Bugibba a Qawra pleasant and very ammeniable with plenty of good restuarants. As I visit Malta often I would be happy to return to the area. With the bus station centrally placed it was handy to get all around the island cheaply, plus the town had dropped kerbs for helping disabled people and those in wheelchairs.

We had a good time in Malta. Riding on these fantastic buses please look after them it would'nt be the same without them.
We are not beach lovers so it did'nt matter where we stayed there was'nt a beach. The promanade was excellent we walk most of the time had a sit down and a couple or so drinks.
