Santa Ponsa (as far as I know) is a “young” resort, in as much as it’s not been around for as long (20 years ??) as some of the others (Magalluf, Palma Nova, Alcudia). There are PLENTY of places to eat including an unexpectedly large amount of Chinese restaurants !! and even includes a MacDonalds and a Burger King close to the beachfront. The beach is GLORIOUS. Large, and with plenty of sunbeds and straw parasols (ALL E1.50 each …so it would cost 2 people E7.50 for the 2 sunbeds and the straw parasol). One unusual point is that there are a fair few trees !!! growing at the front of the beach which provide free shade (as opposed to paying for a parasol). The local police patrol the beach front and the paved area between the main road and the beach and there is a tourist information office close by.
One drawback regarding food, the lack of veg !! – if you want to keep your veg intake up while in Santa Ponsa you have to go and find the restaurants that do veg. Most of the café’s etc… are pizza, pasta, chips, and various other fast food. One restaurant I would REALLY recommend is “Crocodillo’s” just overlooking the beech at the south end of the beech. This is one place that serves veg but also some other very nice dishes, including Cajun Chicken and there own sautéed potatoes served in a side dish. They tasted slightly Indian Restaurantesq. All food was served on crisp white plates and the deserts were dusted with icing sugar, a la carte style, even though a 3 course meal for 2 would cost about £20 with coffee after (also heavenly !!) . They even do Crocodile meat !!. It’s a Dutch restaurant but the staff speak perfect English, Dutch, German, and Spanish. They have their own website (www.cocodillos.com). Anyone going to Santa Ponsa MUST visit Crocodillos. There is a lot of demand and queues form after around 7:30 as it’s THAT popular. You can phone ahead to reserve a table.
There are PLENTY of shops for gifts and also there are at least 2 DECENT perfume shops for mens and ladies fragrances (who also take sterling). Also there is a TABAC shop for VERY cheap tobacco. Couldn’t believe the prices (equivalent of £15 for 200 Royals, or £25 for B&H or Embassy as well as prices of £10 - £20 for other brands inc Spanish, English and American), FAR cheaper than duty free when you leave the UK.
There are also a fair sprinkling of British bar’s including Scottish “The Jaggy Thistle” bar and “The Rovers Return” bar close to Crocodillo’s and also “The Dubliner” round past Burger King at the other end of the beach.
Places to visits…well we only went to the Pirates adventure evening which runs every evening. It’s a REALLY good show, BUT…. The food they serve (supposedly traditional pirate food of Sausages/beans/potatoe wedges/chicken on the bone) was a bit on the meagre side. They served free fizzy in 2ltr bottles of orangeade or cola on the tables (of 8) but EVERY bottle we had was flat and tasted very cheap. They do 2 shows, 7pm and 9:30. Both are busy but the 7pm show may be better for the kids as the 9:30 show is sometimes an “adult show”. Not sure what it would contain, but there isn’t a great story to it, but PLENTY of acrobats and dancers. It’s right next to the Aqua water park and though we took a taxi, you could do the earlier show by bus as the bus stops have good maps and timetables/prices and appeared clean and tidy.
Santa Ponsa is NOT Magalluf but has the best of both noisier and quieter worlds.
I would recommend it.

Flat parts of Sa Coma could do with being tidied up lots of spare ground and rubbish lying around.

A more up market part of Majorca. Loads of shops and Restaurants. Would think it could be a bit claustrophobic in main Season though. Would definately go back there

Santa ponsa has a very clean and tidy cresent shaped beach which is safe for all ages to swim in the sea. There are a number of lifeguards on duty at the beach.Try the square for the best entertainment in santa ponsa, here they have tribute singers on every night ie madonna, the four tops, abba. For a more relaxing drink try Bar Lucinda, your host Martello will make you feel more than welcome,it`s next to the square. Both water parks and crazy golf are a short taxi ride away and all are worth a vist, about 8 euros in a taxi.

We have given the resort high scores because there was nothing wrong with it and there was lots of entertainment available. Lots of Irish pubs with singers, the square with its "kids club" and Beatles Tribute band type entertainment. Just not our cup of tea but that is our problem as most people we spoke to were very impressed.
The beach was excellent, clean and well organised with either lots of open space to lay your towel down for free or rent a couple of loungers and a parasol for 7.5 euro a day.
Wish I could pick up the hotel an put it in a resort with a bit more of Spain around it.

We were staying at Hotel Punta Del Mar and nearest entertainment area was "The Square". We spent one night there and decided we would avoid it like the plague! If you are a family with kids then its definely the place to go, but for a couple like us it was hell on earth with all the kids running about out of control. We spent most evenings down in Santa Ponsa itself amongst the Irish bars, and we had a great time. Everyone was very friendly and drink prices were fine, around €2.50 for a pint. We spent one evening by getting a taxi to Magaluf and we had a good laugh there also. Can't comment on the beach too much as we spent most days by pool at our hotel, but each time we walked past it looked very clean. Would definately go back to Santa Ponsa, but you can keep "The Square"!!

The resort itself was clean but there was always a sewage type smell as though a drainage cover was not fitting properly. Public toilets were provided but not very clearly marked male or female, can't have everything can you.

Very nice seemed quiet at first but when you look around plenty to do. Better for families with younger children.
