Playa del Ingles, really is the place to go for the best package holiday ever! There is so much to do within a short distance you have trouble fitting it all in in just a week. Buses are frequent and on time but you really should hire a car to get the most out of it. Nearby is a waterpark, go karting (2), a million bars and restaurants ans shopping centres. 15 minutes drive away, check out the Atlantico shopping centre for the best bargains on clothes and local food and gifts. There is also a huge Carrefour supermarket which is just like Asda Hypermarket for everything you'll need for your holiday.
I really must recommend the Barbados Restaurant located on the roundabout behind the Yumbo, food was of excellent quality and the service was impeccable. There is loads of fillet steak dishes on the menu, go for the fillet syeak cooked in salt coat. It was to die for!
Can't wait to go back there again.

The Kasbah was brilliant, the Irish Tavern was like home, as was the Betuwe bar. Tonnes of wee souviner shops too, and resuraunts were delicious, particularly the Tauro Negro.
The only annoying thing was the amount of people coming up to you asking to go to their bar/resturaunt, but that happens everywhere you go anyways.
About one minute from the Kasbah was the Plaza, 3 floors going down into the ground. Top floor was all arcade games, second floor had Burger King, Molly Malones and a huge shopping complex with jewlers, gift shops, clothes shops, perfumeries etc.
Bottom floor was a mass of clubs, the best being, in my opinion, Se7en. Drinks were decent prices, although Betuwe was cheapest, 5Euro for two. Everywhere is two drinks, a so called Happy Hour, but two for 8 or 9 Euro wasn't exactly cheap, that was for alcopops.
Spirits were a lot cheaper, and the measures were shockingly big!
Alcohol prices in shops was great. Litre of Smirnoff for 10Euro etc. Cigarettes were cheap too, normally around 17-19Euro for 200.
About 5 minutes away was the Jumbo center, similar to the Kasbah and Plaza. It included a lot of gay clubs and shops, so that's where you need to head if applicable!

Think the resort could do with more dedicated cleaning patrols, but there's only so much can be done when you have folk dumping bottles etc at all hours of the day. It was quite clean to be honest. Entertainment-wise, there's plenty on offer and I don't think anywhere is too far from anything. Maspalomas dunes are a must but you have the usual problem of disgarded cigarettes which is really disgusting around your feet.

I would definately visit Playa del Ingles again! There is so much to do here it is unbelievable. In the evenings make sure you visit the Kasbah as this is were you will find most of the major clubs and bars all trying to entice you within!
The waterpark is definately worth the visit, and the sand dunes of the beach are an absolutely stunning sight! One not to be missed!
The food was a bit hit and miss but the hard rock cafe is definately worth a visit. The food is a lot lot cheaper than the ones in the UK and a table outside is a real bonus.
The resort was great for us as a group of 12 18 year olds, but it also offered a lot for families!

Playa de Ingles is very spread apart and most interesting things are in the Commercial Centres. Although it isn't great to directly face one (noise, noise, noise!) they are where most of the action happens. Its quite cheap to taxi yourself around them (2-3 euros).
The beach is fabulous and very spread out. Definetly worth it.
The market in San Fernando on Wednesday and Saturday is quite good to find all your fake bargains, again a taxi took 5-10 mins and only cost 4 euros.
We are quite active, but ound that you can't possibly walk to all the places in Playa de Ingles because its just too spread out.

RESORT & PLACES TO EAT
Not the classiest of places we have been to but as the lads are getting older they want a bit more to do. The Las Margaritas are about 7-8 minutes walk from both the Chapperal centre and the Yumbo. Only visited Chaperal once when we had an easily forgetable meal. Tended to visit the Yumbo more often, although we were always heading back to the apt before it got too wild. Ate at two restaurants in the Yumbo. The Windsor Gardens wasn’t bad but not the best and another right in the centre that was very good but have forgotten it’s name. Had a drink at Diamonds a few times while the boys were on the huge trampolines with harnesses !!!
What we tended to do was eat on the way down to Yumbo on Ave Tirajana on the left hand side just past the roundabout. Just before you get to the alleyway that leads down to the Yumbo there are a number of restaurants set down from the roadside. We ate at three of these – El Duke (pushy tout but decent food), Benny Hills (corny name but excellent food, very friendly staff – say hello to Tariq (the tout) if he is still there. Be careful about wearing white socks when you go here, even if they are the trainer type !!!) & H.C.Anderson El Molino (very classy restaurant with high backed leather chairs, oak tables etc., you paid a little more but the luxury was worth it. Peppered steak was brill – say hello to Kundy the head waiter).
Another place to visit and eat is the Boulevard that runs west along the sea front from the Lighthouse at Maspalomas. The shops and restaurants along here are excellent and the view as the sunsets is stunning. A taxi from Las Margaritas is approximately 4 euros. Just go out to the road and flag one down, easier than waiting for reception to call one and then waiting for the right one to turn up.
We normally hire a car when we are on holiday but because they are so cheap decided to rely on local taxis. We visited Aqualand twice as there was a special offer on – if you bought 2 days entrance (at Aquland) the cost for a family of 4 was only 100 euros (approx £70). You could use your second day anytime upto the end of October. First Choice were charging more than 100 euros for just one day and then your time there was restricted. On our second visit we didn’t have to queue, just straight in and on the first slides by 10:15am. Didn’t leave both days until the park closed at 6pm. Again taxi was just less than 4 euros each way.
PDI beach is about 20-25 mins walk down hill (takes slightly longer coming back) but there is a free bus service from the apartments to either PDI or Maspalomas running regularly throughout the day. You get a little timetable when you check in. Thought PBI beach was great if a little overcrowded, however we had great time body surfing on the waves. Watch out there are some big ones that can knock you flying. A bit tedious on the return as the bus drops off at a number of other hotels. To be honest next time we will just use taxis to get to the beach and back.

I stayed in Playa del Ingles and I had a great time, wasn't sure about going to the Yumbo centre at first with my friend, but it was great and everyone was down to earth and up for a laugh.
One place which is a must is Cafe la Belle it is hilarious, the Kasbah is great as well, especially Chinawhites and Zig Zags.

Gran Canaria is the best resort iv ever been to. There is so much to do and there are lots of places to visit within a short distance (the sand dunes are a great place to see but do get very hot!).
Our rep gave us a welcome speech pointing out all the hot spots which was very helpful, however we didn't have time to see them all in the two weeks. we paid for quite a few excursions which were great.
The waterpark followed by the massive foam party with all night free bar was one of the favourites closely followed by surf and turf which is keeping in the mountains followed by dolphin watching, the sights are amazing.
