We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in playa del ingles, it started to feel like home!
There were loads of restaurants dotted around serving every single type of food from italian to indian. Our favourite restaurant was one by the beach called Roma where the food was cooked to perfection especially the steaks and fish.
The nightlife was good..there are two main centres in the resort, the Kasbah which had all the mainstream clubs such as pascha, china whites and cream. however i would not recommend the Kasbah at the time of year we went as it was not very busy. However im sure at peak season it would be excellent.
Round the corner from our hotel was the Yumbo Centre which was fantastic. There were shops, restaurants, bars and clubs galore. bear in mind the Yumbo caters aswell for gay people, however they are some of the friendliest people i have ever met, and as 2 straight girls we had a great time with all the gay guys. One of the weeks we went was Gay Pride week, so one of the days there was a massive parade which was a great experience.
Playa Del Ingles beach was about a 20 minute stroll down the hill which was nice, however the cabs are ridiculously cheap at like £1.50 each way to get to the beach and back to the hotel. The beach itself was gorgeuous, i strongly recommend walking far along it until you reach the sand dunes as they are one of the most amazing sites i have ever seen. I also recommend getting a cab (about £2.50) to maspalamos beach as it is a lovely beach, and makes a change from the main one.
I would definately return to this resort again.

The resort was a great place to stay. There is loads of entertainment. The retaurant I would recommend would be Restaurant H C Anderson. This is on the main road opposite the Auld Triangle Irish bar. Excellent fine dining (with a touch of class)..though you do have to pay a little more.
I would also recommend an excursion called the Sea Observer. This is not through MyTravel or Thompson, but a local trip that was recommended by our travel rep. It was amazing. You go on a speed boat in search of the dolphins and whales, and you are guaranteed to find them! It is so much better that going on a ferry or a glass bottom as you are so close to them (you can reach down and touch them). We also saw turtles, and you get to go for a swim and snorkle.

The beach was a reasonable walk from the hotel but it was pleasant and hassle free. Bus service was reliable and fequent. The beach is lovely and we walked to Masapalomas along the beach; well worth the walk!
Plenty for us to do all day and in the evenings. The Yumbo centre is interesting and had fun in the duty free shops. We have enough 'smellies' to last a life time!
We found some Gran Canarians, shop keepers, a bit 'cold' and in one shop a sales woman was quite hostile for no rhyme nor reason. They do not seem a particularly friendly people; just a general observation.
We would return and possibly to the lovely hotel Riu Flamingo.

There is plenty to do at this resort.
Many bars and restaurants serving snacks to three course meals.
The beach is beautiful and clean well worth a walk to the sand dunes.

PDI is a bit 'characterless' - a HUGE resort with lots of big hotels and most of the bars grouped together in various commercial centres. Our hotel was in walking distance of the Yumbo and Gran Chapparel centres. The Yumbo is OK for shopping, and has some good bars later on.
Playa del ‘Ingles’ is the most inappropriately named place I have ever seen – everything is German! Apparently Puerto Rico is more for Brits, but I’ve never yet found any all-inclusives up there in any of our UK brochures.
Our hotel was a very long way to the beach, but there was a free bus so we went down to PDI beach one day but it was very windy and cold and the sand was blowing everywhere, even into our eyes with sunglasses on – nobody was in the sea and nobody was using the sunbeds – apparently we’d picked a bad day, I nipped down there again a couple of days later to pay for a trip and it was really calm and hot and everyone was in the sea with pedaloes and banana boats etc… just our bad luck…
We booked the waterpark with the hotel rep, which meant we got a ‘queue-jump’ ticket, although it was fairly quiet there anyway until early afternoon. The floor is very rough and the kids still have sore feet from running around without flip-flops, but at least the staff at Aqualand don’t seem to mind people wearing t-shirts in the pools, which has been a problem for us ‘pale-skins’ at other waterparks.
We also went on the Camel Safari up in the mountains in Fataga. I booked this with an agent down at the beach – First Choice only sold the camel rides in the dunes which we didn’t fancy because of the wind blowing the sand around and because they only do it on Saturdays when we were getting ready to go home. The Fataga safari was good fun, with Canarian lunch included, a sloppy kiss from a camel and the chance to buy a video of your day.
I probably wouldn't go to PDI again - as far as large busy resorts go, we preferred Playa de las Americas in Tenerife.

Well looked after resort clean and tidy.
We used the hotel entertainment most of the time. There is lots of live music, bars, restruantes etc.
The beach is excellent one of the best you will find in the world.
Yes we would go back to Gran Canaria as its a beautiful island.
