If you are visiting during the winter months then ask reception for extra warm blankets for the cold nights and also ask for the WiFi code ....
Plenty of food places to try although buffet places charge high costs on soft drinks with your meal ..

Pool side apartments mean kids can just go and play while being watched from the apartment.

fantastic resort stacks n stacks of bars;shops;ect.we walked from one side to the other.anyone doing this will need a spare two hours.
i have been going to lanzarote since i was 13 and at 20 i have been every year since my first time sometimes even twice a year. i would love to stay there for a few months and then eventually live there. it is a lovely island with plenty to see and the locals are lovely. it is very friendly and when going into the bars you are made very welcome. i really recommend the american indian cafe, ruta 66, tropical and harley rock. harley rock have a live band every night except thursday which is ladies fantasy night. the staff make you feel welcome in all the above places. also harley rock have amazing food as do american indian cafe. universe is the place to go for cocktails it is beside mc donalds along the strip of puerto del carmen.
We have been to Lanzarote twice now and prefer Carmen to Teguise as we had stayed there 6 months previous and plan to go again Sept 04 for another week. The beaches are beautiful and well maintained as long as you don't mind the darker sand found here which gets unbearably hot under foot. We had a range of nights out, from a quiet drink in a tavern to full blown party nights and found there to be something for all tastes. The food was great and again all tastes and forms of cuisine are catered for somewhere along the main strip. We found in particular the Chinese restraunts to be exceptional value for money and the staff always smiling and pleasant. Puerto Del Carmen is a place I intend to re-visit again and again and would highly reccommend it to anyone from young singles, families even pensioners, there is something here for everyone. Enjoy.
The resort of Puerto Del Carmen was littered with loads of different shops selling everything from novelties to alcohol with restaurants a plenty.
We visited lots of different places to eat and to name a few: The Purple Turtle was good for good old English Tucker and others, the Tex Mex restaurant at the start of the hill going down was good for evening dinner steaks etc, there is a super market "Super Sol" for those wishing to "DIY" the restaurant called MHF was ok for eat all you want carvery in the evening a bit further down the hill, but the breakfast wasnt very good I'm afraid to say very tasteless.
The best place to eat was around the back of our apartments, Mario's pizza and pasta, their Lasagne was something to die for and their pizza'a, they did lots more inclding breakfasts from 3.95 euros that would satify even the hungriest of English men, definitely worth a visit.
The resort was clean and the entertainment we used on our complex, the beaches we visited were clean and beautiful and pure white sand.
We will definaiely be going back. One last thing, if you hire a car check the local laws etc it differs from town to town across Lanzarote and the local police are targeting motorists as we found out to our cost! The 1st thing they ask when they stop you is "Tourist?" then that's it bang out comes the little book, "on the spot fines for whatever they can find"

The resort itself I really enjoyed, the apartments were about a three minute walk downhill to the centre of the new town.
We did go into the old town one evening by taxi but it was far too hilly for my liking.
We found a lovely restaurant right on the beach at the start of the new town food was lovely and the sound of the waves lapping was really nice.

The resort is very nice, clean and tidy, with plenty of shops, bars of all types, and bucket loads of restaurants to visit for all differing tastes.
I've been several times to Puerto Del Carmen and like it a lot, I think there's something for everyone, unless you like isolation.
I will definitely return here time after time.

We stayed in the new town which has mainly restaurants not bars. Drinks were approx 2.5 Euros for a large beer.
We found a couple of bars worth a mention, CHURCHILLS BAR not posh but you will find Ronnie very welcoming unless Rangers or Real Madrid are on the box and are losing. Nice choice of draught beers eg John Smiths & Guinness at reasonable prices. The bar is downstairs on the main road near Topgun which you will see previous comments about good British food.
Also if you turn off the main road by Macdonalds the first bar on the right is The Ramblers Bar this must be 1 of the cheapest places to drink in this resort.
If you are looking for a chinese try The Great Wall Of China which is opposite the casino, also from the casino head away from the old town & take the first left (NO ENTRY if driving) approx 200metres you will find the GRAPEVINE restaurant, it was superb.
Finely on eating out if you fancy traditional tapas ask a taxi drver to take you to Bodegon Bar Tapas it is around the corner from the taxi rank in the old town, Ronnie from Churchills & a taxi driver both recommended it to us and it was well worth going
My last advice is if hiring a car we used Plus Cars in the side street opposite the casino they did not have a Renault Megane which I wanted to try so they gave me a new shape VW Golf on the Sunday and said if I wanted the Megane to go back on Tuesday and they would change them which they did. Yhe cost was quoted at 230 Euros I thought why not ask for discount and with a phone call to her boss was told (Don't tell everybody - as if!! ) 200 Euros was quoted which I accepted. There are many smaller cars much cheaper than this, but this was our choice. I will say check the cost quoted includes insurance because on the boards outside the rental shops the prices you see will not include insurance

Pto. del Carmen is one of the nicest places we have visited. The resort is clean, the people are really friendly, and the atmosphere is really good. We have visited this resort about 10 times in the last 7 years that's how much we like it. The beach goes on for miles and is never too overcrowded, it's always clean and well maintained. The entertainment is excellent with endless bars and restaurants all along the strip. We will be going back really soon, we love it.
We knew it wouldnt be as busy there as tenerife but that wasn't what we wanted, and reading the reviews I expected it to be quiet but it wasn't. Theres lots of bars restaurants clubs etc, and lots of nice shops.
During our stay we did what most 18yr olds would do on holiday, beach shopping and clubs! And girls, beware of the Sean the barman in paradise, and his mate Mielo the barman in big apple, there both slags!!
Paradise and Big apple are the best clubs, although theres no shortage of them.
The one thing I wish is that we looked around more or went on a excursion as we only really stayed in one place, theres a lot more to do there, you can get a boat to another island or go to the La Teguise market, and the old towns not far, but we ended sleeping most of the day and then going back to the bars again!
We should have plenty of time to look about next time though, because we liked it so much we going back in April to live there for a few months!!!

Good resort. Old town food is lovely. Best restaurent is along the harbour seafront. 3rd one with waiters wearing blue shirts. Octopus starter is a delicacy.
