Not a 4star and dated, and some staff members rude , we book this hotel on its ratings , but it about a 3star

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

Now salou was a different matter, To be honest i fyour looking for a little culture or a place that has qaint nooks and crannies to sit in salou is not the resort for you.. i found it very commercial with very little character. It was clean enough and tidy enough with a beautful sandy beach but i quickly was getting bored. Having said that there is a fabulous bus service on the main drag which take syou just about anywhere every few mins cheeply but i won't be going back to be honest...
Port Adventura theme park was fab i really didn't want to go as i'm not a theme park person but was luckily offered some free tickets from a Guy from Arbroath who had 4 tickets on the 14 day flexi pass and he was going home with 4 days still remaining so he gave them to us for free... yipeee and my god it made the holiday.
It would take far to long to describe it to you all i can say is go you won't be disapointed go for more then a day tho as we saw far more on our 2nd and third day then we did on our first...
For those of you who has young kids tho please take note of what i say they have heigh restrictions for some kids but don't mension the age and to be honest we took out three year old daughter on things which are still giving her nightmares.
The Temple of Fire/Space oddysey was great but really not suitable for under 8 year olds my son was 9 and didn't want to go back in...My daughter is still talking about it. We had asked the staff if it was too scary for her and they said no the spanish must have a strange idea of whats suitable for kids.. The best thing i can say is one of the parent nip in on your own first and mske your own mind up if your child can handle it.. although they are not really rides they are never the less very scary.
PLEASE PLEASE don't miss out on the Bird/Parrot show in POLYNESIA it was absolutely amazing and the best one we have ever seen. ( and we have been to loads ) its not just parrots its all sorts of birds and my husband who is a vet said it was simply the best ever display he had seen we found it on the last day and wished we had found it on day one to be honest so we could have gone a few times..
Also the cowboy show in the FARWEST was brillient and so funny and the POLYNESIAN DANCING show was fab too..
In summing up its a shame we didn't like salou really as i really liekd the hotel and woudl have liked to return to it and the Port Adventura park its def worth going tho... :0)

We were in Cap Salou but there was a regular bus service into salou. Cap Salou only had a limited number of bars and places to eat so we spent time in salou.
Love Salou have been a few times nice resort plenty of decent places to eat and lots of bars although it was coming to the end of the season lots of places still open.
Spent alot of time in shankleys bar lovely excellent service and friendly staff it was spotless (would recommend).

I would certainly visit Salou again! There is plenty for everyone to do...You have the themepark, beach, waterparks, markets, the beach, shops and all the different variety of restaurants to pick from. The bars have different types of entertainment so you will be sure to find one that suits your groups wants and needs!

Not much to do in October as most places were closed. Would have preferred to have stayed in Salou.

We called at portaventure park which was great but i did not think the park was worth the entrance fee.
The market at Terragona was good but i think it should be known that they keep animals in small cages in a inhumane state to sell to the public,it really upset me for the day.
The beach at salou is wonderful and should not be missed.

A lovely resort with something for everyone when we visited in October, not sure what it would be like in peak season though. Suspect it would be very hectic and very crowded with a "younger" clientelle.

Having visited towards the end of the season for a specific reason we had an idea what to expect from the resort of Salou. We knew some of the hotels, bars and shops would be running down or closed, but those that were open were excellent, particularly the Old Brown Cow which I would recommend anyone to visit for good food and hospitality.
The beach was a bit of a let down, although this is due to the ignorance and laziness of the smokers using the beach, with thousands upon thousands of fag ends littering the beach. I myself am a smoker, but I made a concious effort to walk up the beach and discard my fag end in the bins provided.

We like Salou but in October most places are closed and so entertainment was lacking.
The English beers were dearer than we pay in England and very few places displayed drinks prices at all. I think it would be a good idea, in Europe (including England), for pubs to display prices outside as restaurants do.
The smaller beaches, near the Golden Playa Park hotel, have steps but also one has a road down to it if you can't manage the 160 steps. The main beach, with sun beds and beach bars, is easily accessible off a beautiful promenade with fountains and lights at night.
Many reviews complain about the hills but we didn’t find them to be big problem even with poor health. You just need to take them steady or even circumnavigate them, which is easy to do.
There are plenty of tourist shops but also if you go to Barcelona Avenue there are better shops. The signs about shoplifting only in English were a bit degrading and shopkeepers seemed to be more vigilant around the English.
The Plana bus company staff we had dealings with were very helpful and friendly and would make sure you got the right bus for your journey and buses run 24 hours a day. Two of our party had left something behind and so got off the bus. They fortunately got a later bus with the same driver who didn’t charge them again for the journey.

The resort was very clean, entertainment was basic, beach very clean. We went shopping in Barcelona by train, I was amazed how busy it was. We had a great day in Barcelona.
I like Salou, it was my first visit and I will definately go back, mabe not to Regina Gran
