There wasn't much entertainment around although in fairness we didn't go looking for busy, music bars. There was never any trouble or feeling of being unsafe. We took evening strolls on the high street which as shops and bars close bye and thankfully no english loauts pushing you into bars!
You do get hastled abit with the locals offering you jasmin flowers- fruit, nuts on the beach-but they do take no for an answer and are not too pushy.
Avoid the carpet tour/trip with free bus which is offered in the hotel by a local, as this really is just to get you to buy and takes up alot of your time if you really are not interested.
Its worth getting any gifts at the Medina Center (at the big department looking store)as they have set prices and are very reasonable.

The local area is very poor and is reflected in shops, entertainment etc however if you are brave enough to witness local cultures, sitting in a bar with tunisian men smoking pipes is very entertaining.
There are several resturants around the hotel area but we found a local kebab stall and this was very nice. No upset stomachs obtained!!!!!!!!!

I liked the resort, very good transport (for tunisia), choice of taxi, bus, horse & cart, noddy train and tuktuk to take you to PEK or into town centre.
We aren't really night owls, so stayed in the hotel grounds each evening, but during the day we found plenty to see and do in the resort. Excellent shopping.
Beach was lovely and clean, beautiful white sand, very shallow, water lovely and warm. Plenty of pedaloes, banana boat rides, para gliding etc etc.
Would definitely come back here.

The resort is very clean and on looking at the roads seems very tourist friendly. However, they do drive a bit like lunatics and you take your life in your hands when trying to cross the road.
There are a number of restaurants in the resort - try the 3 Dolphins - reasonable and very posh!
The beach at Tour Khalef was private and therefore very clean. However a short walk along the beach to the more municipal end was a different story.
Once you have found your bearings, it is very easy and cheap to get around. The water-park in Port El Kantoui is small but has everything there and entrance is under £5.00 and sun-beds free. Once in there food and drinks reasonably priced

We visited this country to see a different culture and to meet new people,we hoped for a totally new experience and boy did we get one!
My husband was mugged in the medina by lunchtime on the first day. The man who jumped him from behind tried to grab his small camcorder from around his neck. He didn't succeed but the experience was very scarey. This was in broad daylight.
We were hounded all week, where ever we went by people trying to sell things, most of it rubbish.
All you will hear all week are shouts of "two dinar, two dinar" as people jostle and tug you to try and get you to buy.
We found them very intimidating and pushy.
They are not freindly they just want your money.
We went on the trip to the sahara and saw a lot of the country. Once more it was marred by men shoving things into our hands as soon as we got off the coach then shouting for dinars, Lots of aggression if you say no, stand firm!!!
If you take photos of any people or camels, horse and cart etc the owners will come screaming after you for money and are downright offensive if they dont get it.
The tour operators don't give enough warning of what these people are like, I ended my week in tears after a man stopped us in Sousse claiming to be a waiter in our hotel, he insisted we drink at a cafe with him and was frightening when my husband stood up to him.
We never ventured out at night, thank god.
Dead cats lie in the streets and some of the horses we saw on the carriage rides on the safari trip were so starved their bones were almost poking through their skin.
A very distressing holiday.
We have been fleeced, shouted at and robbed.
Never, ever, will I visit this place again.
Any smile here is a fake smile.

There really isnt anything in Skanes, just hotels and a couple of shops. however, Sousse and Monastir are only a short and cheap cab ride away.

The local area consists of local shops supplying snacks & also a small shopping centre "slim centre",.
It is a brillant holiday to take and this hotel makes the most of it

Make sure you get ice cream from the shop in the Slim Centre accross the road as it is superb. The Slim Centre is not a healthfood place or a gym by the way, so go in and check it out!
The Patterson surf shop in the Slim Centre has some nifty gear for sale too, linen shirts for TD48 and nice cotton ones for TD38. If you are bigger than a size 9 shoe however, don't plan on buying anything at all shoe wise as no shop will stock 10s or upwards for some reason.
On our first trip in 2002 the travel agent told us it was unsafe to go for a walk of a night. Wrong. Walk into town and you will find loads of shops selling all sorts of stuff at better prices than the Soula Centre (fixed price shop) or medina haggle merchants. It is a nice walk along lively streets, and a taxi back is cheap.
If you are landing late, buy some dinars from the UK airport on the way out (disbelieve whatever you are told about it being a controlled currency - which it is - therefore you can't get it before you get there, cos you can!), so that when you get there you have some dough. The reception staff can also change small amounts of sterling cash for you too. On the way home your rep will tell you on the coach to the airport that you must get rid of all your dinars prior to going through passport control as you cannot spend it. This is not true, I bought food & drink from the official cafeteria in Monastir Airport with dinars. Just keep em in your pocket, not in your bag, as the x-ray scanner machine will pick it up & the woman in front of me did get TD40 'confiscated'.
Make sure you tip generously. The Tunisian people are in the main dirt poor by our standards, so if you have any decent unwanted clothing for instance, take it with you and give it away. We got rid of an entire suitcase of my late Dad's clothes, to a very very appreciative few hotel staff members who we have come to know over the years we have been going there.
I am looking forward to our next trip.

We were in between the two resorts so we did have the best of both worlds which was great.
Port El Kantaoui was the nicest place in the world to visit especially at night time, the jumping fountain was fantastic a real must see, the shops in both Sousee and Kantaoui, are all mainly the same and the object of this is haggle haggle haggle thats what they want you to do.
If you can't get the right price in one place the shop keeper will be offering it you at that price because he will have heard what you were saying.
Sousse was lovely too the beaches were fantastic lovely bright blue sea and very relaxing although they are very very busy! The medina in Sousse is a but scary as its very narrow streets and there are always loads of people mainly men tring to get you in there shop you just have to be very forceful and say no firmly, there is also one other thing with the Medina the meat market its not for the weak stomach they do have the head of the animal of the day hanging outside the shop its not very nice so you just have to be careful and divert from it thats what we did each time we went there!
Tunisia was very clean some places were very run down but you should expect that and there is always building work going on we were also told to expect that, we were there when the president was visiting so that may be why it was so clean we don't know!
There are a few nightclubs, a small water park, a wild animal park and a fair. So there is alot of entertainment but you can go in any of the hotels to watch there entertainment which was good because ours was rubbish!
