This is a typical Tunisian resort reasonably quiet and totaly relaxing. If you expect it to be like Spain, Greece or the rest of the Northern Med, well it isn't.
There is no over the top drink culture in Tunisia, no lager louts and no groups of screaming hooligans making everybody's holiday a misery

For an African resort generally cleanliness was great, the occasional whiff from a drain/sewer but nothing to bad. The guys have the usual look for european girls, dress with consideration and you will be okay. It is amaxing how many women walk around in bikini tops and hot pants and get cheesed of with the hassle thay get, give it some thought!Lots to see and do, one little bit of hassle in the bazar from a trader but again I have had more grief in other places. Beach looked reasonabley clean, weather didn't allow for whole days on the beach. Lots of places to eat within walking distance, to suit all budgets, 4 courses for less than 15 quid a head (excellent local food). You can go local, french, italian, chinese, burgers etc. As it is a muslim country bars are almost always attached to Hotels so not a great choice, the more adventurous may find a walk round the old town quite interesting, my wife and I stumbled into a red light district.......Muslim Country?? Interwting place is Sousse!

The beaches were lovely and clean, but this is still a fairly new tourist area and the locals do not leave you alone. On this holiday me & my boyfriend were groped, shouted at and on one occasion spat at by a local when we tried to say we did not want to buy something. this is not the place to come if you want a relaxed resort where you can explore the area without being hassled. In fact place I felt relaxed was the hotel.

Plenty of shops in Sousse ,.. plenty of haggling to be done to get a bargain .. can be a bit annoying at times, but a simple no thankyou and walk away works.
Not much in the way of night life. Most of that is found on your complex. All in all a nice experience to visit such an eyeopening country.

On the whole Sousse is a nice place it is generally safe to walk the streets although I would not try it at night but that can be said for any town in the UK.
The street cleanliness is good in the tourist areas but they are not too tidy off the beaten track.

The whole of Sousse is dirty and about 25 years behind the times. Definitely not a place to visit if you're under the age of 75!

The resort as a whole appeared quite good.
There are a selection of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops around the area. However, there are also a lot of 'building sites'.
Beaches around own hotel were brilliant, did not really explore any others.
Think this is an ideal resort, near the airport, and with a selection of places within a short, and cheap, taxi ride.

The beach was very clean the sea was clear, but beware of the men on the beach selling cigaretes if you did not want them they tried to put peanuts into your mouth they became very insistant.
They hone in on children and women but just ignore or better still wear sunglasses so there is no eye contact.
The madinas are great if you like to haggle dont be affended if they call you a cheeky monkey or worse!
Take a taxi from outside the hotel it costs 3 dinas really cheap.

This area of Tunisia is not very clean.
We were in Sousse (actually Hammam Sousse) in February and the beach was not very clean - but it was too cold for the beach. The countryside around Sousse is filthy and litter strewn.
Sorry, don't know about resort entertainment.
Transport to other places from Sousse is fairly good and we were able to go to Sfax, El Jem (well worth it), Mahdia and a few other places very easily on the 'Metro', buses and trains.
I would really strongly recommend not going into the Medina in Sousse. It is made awful by the souvenir shop owners and conmen. In fact, after a few days I would cross the road rather than try to walk past a souvenir shop. In busier times it is also, apparently, full of pick-pockets. We didn't experience this, but it was very quiet when we were there.
If you want to see a Medina go to Monastir (a bit better) or Sfax whose Medina is combination of market, village and light industry.
The souvenir salesmen are a pain but apart from that, Sousse, and the other towns I mentioned, seem very safe. People are genuinely very friendly - this is what the souvenir saleman take advantage of.
We didn't see any women being hassled anywhere. Even women on their own.
You will get by easily in French, less so in English. It's worth learning a few Arabic greetings and small words just to see the delight in the local people's eyes.
