Attached to the Hotel is a bar, well worth sitting here at night - only thing is your all-inclusive option stops the moment you go past reception so drinks aren't free here.

Beaches

Beautiful and picturesque resort. Beach very pebbly , diving shoes recommended if your a beach fanatic. 2 sunbeds and a parasol cost about £4 for the day. You have to pay to enter the blue lagoon beach but a little further on is sugar beach which is also on the lagoon but free to enter. Blue lagoon not very blue when full of pedloes so normal beach better. Pedestrians have to be aware of paragliders landing randomly in the street. All entertainment based in restaurants , karaoke. Bellydancing etc. A few late bars for the diehards. Perfect place to chill. Trips reasonably priced. Loads to do if you wish.

I found the resort clean. Cant comment on entertainment as did not make use of this facility but when we walked past everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. Again beach, we are not beach people only went on the beach to access boats for trips which i would throughly recommend. This is why i gave the beach and resort entertainment average. We went to the Gorge brilliant although dont like how they try to sell you turkish carpets it was also too hot for me on the visit to thos although i did walk part of it. Yes I would visit this resort this was the second year i had done so.

We stopped off at Olu Deniz for our last 2 days following 10 days spent in Datca and Kas. The beach and sea were beautiful and we loved sitting on the beach despite the 4 lira each entrance fee to the lagoon area and 18 lira for 2 sunbeds. It was ok for 2 days but would have hated to spend this if we were there for a week or 2. We didn't like the town, it didn't feel at all Turkish and there was no Turkish music played and we hardly heard anyone speaking Turkish. They were stunned when we spoke in Turkish to them. We didn't see many Turkish tourists and are fairly sure this is due to the high prices for everything. It was much more expensive than anywhere else in Turkey I have been and I have travelled to many resorts.
We did sit by a Turkish couple on the beach and heard them complaining about the price of the sunbeds and asking for Turkish discount. They didn't get it. I was ready to pounce on the sun bed man if they had! I would go again if I was passing as the beach was so nice but I wouldn't stay for more than a couple of nights and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who wanted to experience Turkish culture. There just wasn't any, even the shop signs were in English.

olu deniz is not really for us, we are beach lovers and there is no really sandy beach apart from sugar beach on the lagoon, which we didnt find until the day before we were leaving.
the resort was very clean, and walking the streets was a pleasant experience.not a great deal of hassle.
plenty of restaurants and bars in olu deniz, we went into hisaronu and fethiye a few times on the dolmus.
the market in fethiye was amazing,i was particularly amazed with the vegetable market, everything looked good. and such a massive choice.
there was a paragliding competition going off when we were there, this was amazing to watch someone else do it, but i certainly would not have a go.
i do not think we will go back to olu deniz, the place is too small, although you can get easily to hisaronu or fethiye.
the blue lagoon was a disappointment, it looks like heaven in the brochures, but the beach is very pebbly and rocky.
you pay 4 lira to get in to the lagoon, then another 6 lira for a sunbed, and then the bar charged over the odds for food and drink.
across the lagoon is a private beach called sugar beach, this is the best place for beach lovers, at least you can get in the water without needing shoes on, the bar here was ok and not priced over the top.
always wanted to go here,my feelings are been there done it, will not go again.

I had my expectations set quite high having been to Icmeler twice and falling in love with the place but we wanted to try a different resort this year.
The resort of Oludeniz is smaller than Fethiye and Hisaronu (and Icmeler) but there are plenty of places to eat, lots of gift shops, an internet cafe, hairdressers and jewellers. The resort layout is like a ‘T’ with a main strip leading down to the beachfront. The main strip and beachfront are closed to traffic.
One thing we noticed straight away is that there was virtually no hassle from the restaurants and bars in Oludeniz. As you walked past you would get the usual “Come here, cheap drinks, nice food” but a friendly “No thanks” was sufficient.
We found that eating out here was more expensive than when we had been to Turkey previously, but we don’t know if this was because the resort itself is more expensive than others or if this is common across other resorts too. Certainly, compared to Hisaronu (where we went of an evening on a couple of occasions), Oludeniz is expensive. Drinks and food were cheaper in Hisaronu.
The beach in Oludeniz actually looked rather dirty, so we didn’t venture to the beach during our stay apart from one evening when we went to the beachfront bar opposite Buzz Bar. Here we sat on a deckchair, watched everyone else sitting on the beanbags on the beach and just chilled with an Efes. The beach seemed to be very stoney and we noticed that there was quite a lot of litter strewn around the beach area.
Although there are plenty of places to eat in Oludeniz, we did find it a struggle to go somewhere just for a few drinks without paying over the odds. There are restaurants a-plenty but a distinct shortage of bars! There are a couple of cocktail bars but the prices they were charging were ridiculous – Southern Comfort and Coke was 13 Lira and vodka and coke was 10 Lira in Tequila Cocktail Bar!!!!!!! Needless to say, we didn’t go there again!!!
We found that the best places to eat at were:
Madras – beautiful Indian food and great service. We thought we’d give it a try - we’d been disappointed in other Turkish resorts before with Indian food BUT this was our favourite restaurant in Oludeniz. During our 2 weeks we went here 3 times! While we were there they were doing a help yourself all you can eat buffet for £10 each. We chose from the set menus instead and can say that the food was the best that we had during our holiday.
Toscana – on the main strip not far from the beachfront. Here they did traditional Turkish cuisine, Italian and Mexican. We went here about 4 times in the evenings during our stay and also one lunchtime for a pizza. The food was lovely each time – try one of the steaks. The pasta dishes are delicious too and I particularly enjoyed the stuffed mushrooms for a starter (the mushrooms are stuffed with Bolognese sauce and topped with cheese – yum!). Again, great service from the guys here.
The Lemon Tree – we went here twice. On our first visit the food was faultless – we each had a steak and it was perfect. Second visit was nowhere near as nice for some odd reason.
Ottomans – on the main strip. Went here on our first night and the food was lovely. We each had a kebab. However, when we went back a few evenings later, we ordered crabs legs, a hot starter. When they arrived they were FROZEN!! So we sent them back after telling the waiter that they should be HOT and not frozen. We never understood how we could be served with a hot starter that was frozen. As for them being crabs legs, well, it was actually crab meat in breadcrumbs, not exactly what you’d call a crab leg! The main course wasn’t that nice this time either so we said that we wouldn’t go back there for a third visit!
Buzz Bar – on the beachfront. Without a doubt the worst meal ever! It was disgusting. The starters were fine but it was only Borek. However, I ordered a Lamb Iskender for my main course which was described on the menu as “strips of lamb doner meat on pitta bread”. I looked at it when it arrived and found that it was pieces of pitta bread chopped up with loads of doner meat on top of it in a sort of gravy – it looked like the cat food you get in those pouches, you know the ones, “finest cuts of meat in gravy”? Ugh. It was terrible. My other half had what was meant to be a spicy fish kebab but there certainly wasn’t any spice on it. This place was vastly overpriced for very poor quality. Do not go here because it really is disgusting. Just thinking about the Lamb Iskender now makes me gag.
Josephs – on the main strip. Went here for lunch a couple of times. Great food and good service. They do a fantastic English breakfast.
Shadows – on the main strip. Again, we went here for lunch a couple of times but had an English Breakfast with proper sausages and bacon! They do a large and a small and the large IS large! Highly recommend here for breakfast.
Dominos Restaurant (Hisaronu) – on both evenings that we went to Hisaronu we ate here. On both occasions the meal was faultless as was the service. If you go into Hisaronu then give this place a go as I’m sure you will love it. You might be able to get a balcony table with views onto the street below – great for people watching!
To summarise, we found Oludeniz to be expensive, the quality of food in some places to be below par, a shortage of places to go just for a few drinks, the beach didn’t look that appealing (but if you’re happy to stay by the hotel pool it doesn’t really matter). However, despite this, we feel that we would go there again as the positives outweigh the negatives. The scenery around the resort is beautiful, the Turkish people are amazingly friendly, Hisaronu is just a short taxi ride away if you want more choice and a livelier night out. We wouldn’t go there for more than 10 days though as after the first week, you really do get bored of seeing the same places over and over again. It’s not a big resort so you end up running out of places to go for walks etc. I think that the next time we go to Turkey we will be going back to Icmeler! We gave a different resort a try but in the end I think you’re better off sticking to what you know.

Olu Deniz, Turkey was absolutely gorgeous, red hot every day, wonderful scenery, plenty to do, plenty of lovely cafes and restaurants, serving beautiful foods cooked by chefs. Good variety and pleny of choices. We are going back to the area, but this time staying in Hisarano as that too was impressive and very, very friendly. The Turkish people are a credit to the area. we love them. Faultless!! Cant wait for September Holidays, this tiem for a fortnight.
