Hellooo! This is the annoying thing about LW - even the travel agent's don't have a clue! Some say that she does count towards occupancy. I have just spent 20 mins on the phone to TC and it wasn't confidence inspiring! The young bloke did his best, bless him, but there were a lot of 'I thinks' and 'maybes' .... too many at least for me to consider booking up a 5 grand holiday!
He did think though that she didn't count towards occupancy.
Do you know what the 'suites' are like? It seems they sleep 2 - 5 people!
It's very confusing, I know. There are 8 categories of room in the Village. The one that they might be describing as a suite could be cat 4. That's 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. Cats 5 and 6 are basically two cat 2 or two cat 3 rooms connecting.
You could ring LW's London office but they might not know what Thomas Cook are selling.
Hi does anyone know about internet/wifi at Lykia world.
Hee hee! Thanks for proving my point, bridd. What hope do we have when TC (who is, as you will know, LW's travel agent in Britain) is getting their room descriptions wrong, for it definitely describes it as a suite on their website?!?

is more or less what I've got in the brochure. They miss out categories 7 & 8 which are the garden rooms. Maybe they don't offer them now?
Re wifi - they have an internet cafe at the Residence reception - they add it onto your bill. Don't think they have wifi anywhere at LW.
Was hoping for Wifi so daughter could keep in touch with boyfriend! Look like a big phone bill instead or limited use of internet cafe.
i did not try any of the pay for restauants but i have the prices at home and will post on the 24th june if thats any help ?
i did look at the chinese menu and it seemed to be repeating itself every other night !! was going to go but thought why pay extra when you can have a good meal at the marina and the lovely sun setting !!

They did have free wi-fi in the residence reception when we were there, but it wasn't very good!
They did have wifi, in the residence, it was down the steps opposite the cinema outside the internet room, which if you wanted to pay to use their internet pc's it was only e1.50 for 30 minutes and there was also a wifi spot outside the corner shop / cafe in the village area, never used it myself but heard and seen plenty of people using the area with laptops etc

Thanks for the info Gregg - I vaguely remember someone using a laptop in the Corner Shop area when I was there 3 years ago. This is good news for my daughter.
Have anyone been or know what Lykia World Antalya is like ? I know it's golf but beach etc looks fine ! thinking of trying it next year !!!
I was looking at the pictures last night - it does look nice and is all inclusive from what I can see. Don't know whether any of the british tour operators go there - do you?
They maybe call it all inclusive but its only free wine, beer and soft drinks at mealtimes, the same as at Olu Deniz. Some but not all of the a la carte restaurants are free - others you pay a supplement.
It would be nice if lw in olu became AI, at the same prce then it would be worth every penny, just think every bar would be tottaly packed out !!
If the double bed is a large double I would happily sleep with all the children while husband has the single but this wouldn't be possible if it was a normal size double- my eldest is already nearly 5ft! I have been trying to find out more about the room situation to no avail!
It might be helpfull.
Also i think TA book rooms on the number of people in party, you can be lucky and speek to someone at TC who has been and understands your issues, why not ask to speek to someone in the know when you get thru on the phone ? just a thought !!
or just thought ..... we booked a residence room, it had 2 single beds and a sofa, which if you want, you can just open out one side of it for a single or both seats for two singles, then have the little one in with you and hubby ?? if you check LW web site its the room with pink walls and a sort of blueish type wall tiles ... hope this helps
Gregg
We once had 4 of us in the basic Village room - the one thats meant to sleep 3. There were 3 single beds and the smallest of our kids slept on the sofa bed. Never again. We always went for 2 residence rooms after that.
It's a funny thing but we are a party of 5 and were at LW 2 years ago, we originally booked a village room but when we arrived the room was over run with ants, so we went back to the village reception and told them about this, they offered us another room and to our delight it was in the residence area (all they had left apparently). They let us view the room before taking it but it only slept 4, it was like a proper family room/suite really, you walked in the front door then there was a hall way with loads of cupboard space and a dressing room, 2 bedrooms (one was a double the other a twin) and both led out onto the balcony. There was one bathroom between us out in the hall next to the dressing room. When we told reception there were only 4 beds in it, they said they would put another 'rollaway' in...and they did! So the 3 kids shared one room and me and DH had the double next door, but in the same 'suite/room' ifykwim!! This type of room was not on any of the room plans on the LW map. It was also in a brill position, right down next to the marina with a sea view, you could slip out of the side door by walking down the stairs and be at the marina in about 2 minutes! No need to walk all the way back up to the residence lobby area just to get the lift! it seemed to be on the lower floors and I don't know how many of these rooms there are but I know it was definitely different to the other residence rooms as we looked inside another room when the maid left the door open, then on our leaving day, after checking out, we used another residence room to change & shower in. The room we had was a brilliant idea for a family of 4 or 5 and I really don't know why they are not advertised? it might be worth ringing LW in Olu to enquire about this if this is the type of room that would suit you better? I'm sorry but I can't remember the room number now might have been 201, sure it was the 2nd floor though.
Sorry to hear of your troubles Outnumbered, but in a perverse way it's good to hear I'm not the only one who has found this!
The problem is that all the LW rooms have been contracted to Thomas Cook. They have a monopoly, which explains the cr@ppy customer service. In fairness, LW detail the room layouts on their website reasonably well, so the fault doesn't really lie with them. The problem is that these descriptions don't tally up with what's on the TC website, so you have no real idea what you're getting. I have tried emailing TC for clarification but, typically, haven't had a reply. I have always found their customer service to be a joke.
'Hays' did my best quote, Outnumbered, so you may wish to give them a phone ... still expensive, but a wee bit better. The lady I spoke to (Kelly??) was really nice and helpful, and I guess it's good to give a smaller company a slice of the action.
Hope this helps and do PM me or whatever to let me know your booking outcome xxx
Thanks also to Gregg, Bridd and everyone else on this lovely forum
