This is a large hotel and I stayed in block two which seemed the best option (I had e-mailed the hotel previously to request) it is not noisy and close to amenities

Shop around for the best price. sometimes it is cheaper to use the internet like Trivago and other times booking with the hotel direct is cheaper, strange but the last booking I made for later in the year I am making a saving of £40 a night on an airport hotel booking. Some hotels like Barcelo give discounts if you register with them under their My Barcelo banner 5% plus 5% for over 55's.

Away from the swimming pool area, very noisy all afternoon, those who wanted their afternoon siesta were not happy.

Don't take a room at the back of the hotel as these seem to be the ones plagued by mosquitoes.

Slightly more than a 20 minute walk from town. Car definitely needed, but well worth it.

well what can I say about Calleta, Its lovely.
It is lacking in entertainment for the teenagers, but thats about it. Its a great place for the kiddies and couples. Very romantic down on the beach watching the sun set. Thiers a new fish restuarant just off the Sheritan's beach, cant remember its name, but its a lovely place to watch the sun set.
Calleta is getting bigger all the time, but you'll notice that it is dominated buy two hotels. The barcelo, which owns most of the shopping complex surrounding it too and everything along the beach, and the Elba, which owns most of the rest including the San Jorge and the pubs and shops under that too. Of course they are still many toher aprtments and hotels and new ones springing up all the time.
One place you should definatley go to for a good night out is Pieros. In the shopping Mall nearest the Barcelo Hotel and down a few steps from the Chinese. I've had many a good night here, splitting my sides with laughter. Don't be fooled with the Sinbad night. Its not just for kids, its harlarios, with Pieros himself spitting fire and doing some incredibly funny jokes. Never laughed so much in my life. The hypnotist night is gret for a laugh too. the pub stays open til the wee hours, great place to go
Next to this I would say the Barcelo is the best for entertainment. Don't forget you can walk into any hotel and enjoy what they have to show. Nights like the Four tops, The beetles, Grease, parrots shows, magicians etc etc etc. Wednesday is change over and its usually a rubbish night, but its always worth a look just incase.
Food wise, The steak Houses are great. The restaurant next to Villa Florida is wonderfull and the waiters very funny. El Roca, the one with Miss piggy outside, I would say is the best stake house in the area, you can tell its always full even when the rest are empty.
Down in the harbour is the jet skies, snorkling, submarine trips, the cattamaran with seal show and just about anything you canthink of.
For cheap groceries forget the trourist shops actually in the centre, Get the free bus from outside the Elba (runs every 30 mins) and get to the Atlantico centre. Here you'll find an array fof shops including Spar. Not as cheap as home, but much cheaper than anywhere else in Calleta. Beer is only 33 cents!!!!!!
The Atlantico is the base for a lot of local celebrations, the Carnival Band contest is here in March, quite a site I can tell you.
To the rear of the Atlantico are the pubs and restaurants, Downstairs youll find Burger King, Amusements, a Bowling alley and the cinema. OUtside is a sort of lake with ducks in it and next to the the Kiddies bouncy castles, trampolines and go karts. Behind that, and if you made it this far, you'll already would have seen the beach, This first beach is owned by the Atlantico sopping centre (yess a shopping centre with its own beach) and the second to the kI spoke of earlier. Across from the front of the shopping centre and next to the petrol station is the only McDonalds on the whole island.
While your here, Don't forget about Chip Monk mountain, Just straight up off the round about. There are some lovely Pubs and restaurants up there, my personal favourite being the Travelers rest. If you have a car, go right to the top. Nothing there, but the view if fantastic.
NUeve Horizonte is about 20 mins up the road and you can take the free Elba bus or take the long walk along the sea front. When you arrive at Nueve walking this way you'll see a big white building, this used to be the water park, it wasn't open for long, shame it would have been something for the elder kids to do. Here are a few pubs, Flannigans and Rosie Malones, etc Lovely pubs run by friendly people. But not much ese. But its worth just taking the walk and having a lovely relaxing drink at the end. Oh the food is wonderful too, if your hungary after your walk.
I COuld go on and on and on. But I'll just say its a lovely lovely place, and you'll probadly not find most of this out on your firt visit, best ask around and find where the good place are.

The resort is modern, easy to get about and has just about everything you could need. It is a shame the Netto supermarkets are geared up for tourist and very expensive. There is loads of building work going on and the resort is right under the flight path into the airport so it is not quiet. A week is quite long enough!

The resort was quieter than I expected but the beaches were beutiful and it may not suit some people as it is very quiet. However I can see it blooming in years to come but cant see it becoming commercialised. If you want peace you will find it here.

The resort was very clean and there is enough to occupy the week I did pass Correlejo which does look busier but liked Calletta more, as it was smaller and easy to get around, however I had good reports from other holiday makers about Correlejo.
It all depends what you are after.
You must visit the market if you like Bags, Sunglasses, Belts and Jewellery as that is all they sold!!!!
Plenty of places to eat out and the beaches were nice check out the sand sculptures!
Definitely worth a visit if you dont like busy resorts that are too commercialised and like a cosmopolitan feel.

Town itself is kept clean, wide choice of places to eat but dont axpect to find any true Spanish/Canarian food.
If you have children take them to the rocky area [beach + turn left]they will love to watch/feed the chipmonks, if you have a rat phobia steer clear as they share the area with chipmonks. The rats will not go by you, my g/daughter loved them.
Turn right at beach at the end camel rides 10e + you go a good distance. To find bargains use side streets.
Fags + tobacco ask at 'Mexican corner or by the trampolines and anyone will tell you were the shops run by the Indians are.

The resort is well maintained and kept very clean. Continuous washing of floors, rubbish collection and sweeping of well used areas was the norm. The whole complex was excellent in terms of cleanliness.
Entertainment couldn't have been better, the team were brilliant all through our holiday.
The beach was very clean and there were loads of beds to use.

The resort overall was clean and particularly manmade. The beaches were clean and generally not dangerous, i.e. high waves etc.
Location is good in relation to local amenities and airport. Local town only 5 minutes drive and a 15 - 20 min walk along coast front. Do take a small jacket at night time though as it can get a little breezy next to the water front!

Costa Caleta is a fantastic resort. If you spent 2 weeks there you could not get to visit all of the restaurants, so many to choose from, including chinese, mexican, portugese, italian, all serving kids meals also. Beach is lovely (9 euros per bed though!) they have crazy golf course which was fun and a play park opposite Vista Playa which my daughter loved. I also spotted trampolines for the kids. We would definately visit this resort in the future, thoroughly enjoyed it.
