Lots of places to eat outside resort.
Recommend going Bed and Breakfast, ignore half board option.
Do not book April, May, June as 80 percent closed with only one restaurant on offer.

Don’t stay here. Death would be better.

If you can afford it, get a suite. Overlooking the pool and the sea - perfect!

My top-rated restaurants are Camel, Bodegon Las Tapas, La Romantica, and Ninen.

Avoid altogether. Vastly overpriced.
2* - being generous. A very large ‘holiday camp’.
Pool areas fine except for other guests! Ring-fencing areas, playing loud music on portable speakers. No consideration for anyone. Vulture behaviour for sun beds ? Up at the crack of dawn we assume?
Altogether awful- unless you have very low expectations and this is your idea of holidaying, which amazingly seems to suit many of the ‘Indiscerning’ guests. Very disappointed with Althams and Jet2 for recommending.

Playa Blanca is more sophisticated and upmarket than most other resorts in the Canaries.
Ideally suited to couples who enjoy a more laid back type of holiday.
Excellent but crowded and a great promenade that stretches for miles. Eating out is generally a high standard and we especially enjoyed our meals at Casa Jose on the Square, El Marisco next to the chemist and Lanis at the Rubicon Marina.
Mixture of bars but can recommmend Molly Irish Bar but from our experience avoid the Kings Head on the sea front.

The resort itself was well maintained and it seems as if a great deal of money has been spent there. As for the restaurants etc,we didn't use as there was no need on all inc but we did stop at a few of the bars whilst out and about to quench our thirst.
My tip is be wary of the bars that overlook the harbour as they are pretty pricey(i think you pay for the view),but stroll into town and find the bars that the locals use as you get far better service and value for money, afterall if they use the place you know it must be good!
All in all,it is a beautiful place with stunning scenery, and worth a visit.

Just returned from Sun Beach! This really has become a nightmare hotel.
Under new management and it seems that all standards have slipped.
The place is filthy. If you want black feet after having a shower in your room, then this is the place to go! If your unlucky to be in blue block (around room 605) you will be woken up every morning by the cleaners at around 7a.m. who thinks its great to have lengthy loud conversations. Their cleaning rooms are in that area - be careful not to trip over the bags of washing / trolleys on your way back to your room.
Pool area (walkways) was never cleaned in the 2 weeks we were there. Bins were emptied every 2 days at some later point in the day.
Warning - our friends apartment had loads of items stolen this week. The police visited and informed us that a key had been used to enter the apartment (either by a cleaner or someone else who had access to room keys). The hotel did nothing.
After a text from a guest still at the hotel today, it seems that another couple have had their safe broken in to today - having had 1000 euro stolen.
No warning was given to any other guests. Thank goodness none of our children went back to collect something and was confronted with the offender.
Amonst other things that happned, no, definitely would not recommend this hotel.

Playa Blanca itself has expanded considerably since our last visit and it is in danger of loosing its identity.
As would be expected in July beaches very crowded and it was hot. The shops were never one of the resorts strong points and its worth remembering electrical goods are a little cheaper but any after service back up or guarantees are useless.
A good selection of restaurants. We can recommend Casa Jose on the square and La Cuadra in the shopping precinct. The food was good and our 15 year old daughter enjoyed them. Mollys Irish bar is worth a visit but we did not like The Kings Head on the seafront, lousy entertainment and very moneygrabbing with short measures.

We have stayed in Lanzarote 3 times, twice in Playa Blanca and have already booked return there next year.
Very clean with many different types of resturaunt and entertainment.
Although I would say the resort is quite low key, the entertainment suits us as a family with young children, not exactly clubbers paradise and unsure how teenagers would rate it either.
However, Playa Blanca is definitely the holiday destination for us.

I loved Playa Blanca. I have been to the island 6 times now over the years but this was my first time staying in Playa Blanca.
The selection of shops is much better the in the other resorts and I especially loved the Bijou Brigitte jewelery shop and Chevere down by the water, some great bargains to be had there.
Lanzarote in general lends itself very well to hiring a car during your stay. The roads are very quiet and well sign posted. A good place to drive if you have never driven abroad before. As it is a small island, it is also possible to find where you are very easily if you get lost.
I thought the weather was better in Playa Blanca that in other resorts. It seemed to have less wind than Costa Teguise and fewer clouds than Peurto Del Carmen and neighbouring resorts.
I would highly recommend Playa Blanca for those looking for a quieter holiday with a good selection of restaurants and shops.

Playa Blanca in our view is the best resort on island.
We wanted somewhere fairly quiet, not too busy but with a few shops. There are no rowdy nightclubs, and we were not constantly hassled to go inside shops.
We felt very safe walking around and local taxi's were very cheap, only cost 2 euros from centre of Playa Blanca to our apartment which was at rear of resort and about a 10-15 min walk.

Resort cleanliness, 10 out of 5. Not a piece of chewing gum, bottle or fish and chip paper anywhere to be seen. We were amazed to look into the water at the harbour/mariner and see the bottom. The only thing in there were fish ( not supermarket trollys and old tyres)
Playa Blanca...a credit to the local council and the people of this lovely resort. It was realy nice to walk around without being hassled by timeshare reps.

Nice looking resort with the Dorada beach in particular looking fantastic.
The sea was absolutely crytal clear an the beach well kept. Around the resort however, it was noticeable that there was a wide range of litter being dropped and not cleaned up for a couple of days.
Things such as glasses, bottles of the glass type as well the plasic type, also quite a few beer cans. It looks as if the "element" have discovered this quiet little resort and seem intent on turning it into another hole.
Entertainment is sparce to say the least in Playa Blanca, so if you are not capable of making your own entertainment, either sick to the hotel or don't come here.
We found several good eateries and enjoyed eating out in quite a number of good places (after failing to be satisfied by the hotel food).
Would I visit Playa Blanca again? I sincerely doubt it, unless I was in dire need of peace and quiet.
